Freda's Gang by cruiser143

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

while this is not our first cruise it is our second with Celebrity...we found the amenities on the boat somewhat less than experienced before...the robes and face cloths were heavy (the robes) coarse and not all nice to use...the quality of the lotions and shampoo lacking...I did bring my own but with the amount of hand sanitizer offered and used the body lotion in our cabin smelled awful and was not really worth using...the cleanliness of the ship was wonderful...our cabin Stewart Kadek was beyond amazing...he met every challenge we gave him with a smiling face and a wonderful disposition each and every day...never once did he not acknowledge us by name or fail to respond to anything we asked...our dining experience was a totally different story all together...the Oceanview lounge was everything you could ask for...while we had breakfast there most mornings...the staff was cheerful..watchful and professional...the food was plentiful, hot and offered a great variety...dinner was another thing altogether...while we enjoyed the preferred seating...there were 47 of us in our group, all situated in tables within reaching distance from each other...the first night our service would have been better if we had served ourselves...we found it disorganized, slow and disfunctional...the second night was probably worse since the maître de assured us that the first night was always a bit disorganized...we did complain and were assured it would get better...slowly it did..Julio, Admir and Despot came through with flying colours...but I cannot say the same for the rest of our group on any given night...some nights we were served and finished before they had received their desserts or main courses were just finishing...the specially restaurants were the best of the cruise dinners...the Murano being our favorite..you would think we were the only guests on the boat..superb...the Tuscan was no less impressive but we were not in a private room and there were more of us...but again fantastic..our guest relations we found unacceptable...we had charges on our account that we never made...went down to fix the problem and then had to go back down again....this should not have had to happen..I found the staff short and very abrupt..if a client has an all inclusive account...there should not be additional charges on their bill for anything and explaining it was a mistake but not rectifying it is unacceptable...but all in all the embarkation was a piece of cake...the disembarkment was organized and efficient and quick...glad we did it

Food rates a "meh" by SLR63582182

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Wow...disappointing.  Always looked forward to a celebrity cruise but the food quality has gone down.  Taking away huge portions was a great idea...taking away the flavor and quality...will make us think twice before booking again.  Even the speciality restaurants were just average...with Silk Harvest being the worst.  Captains Club members will see less perks in the way of coupons taking away the incentive to rebook.  Cabin carpets and drapes were frayed, found used Qtips left by previous passenger in our stateroom and carpet in the Oceanview Grill was filthy. Staff and crew were as friendly and helpful as always, but this cruise was not up to the usual Celebrity standards.  Not certain if celebrity intends to make 2 days in a port the norm, but it is a bad idea in our opinion...especially in places like Columbia.  Overall, this back-to-back cruise was just so-so.  Booked with Oceania for March in hopes it will be better.  Have 4 more cruises booked with celebrity for the future, but may opt out if Oceania is with the extra money.

Not the celebrity I used to know by paws393

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were two woman in our late 60's traveling together.  We love to listen to music at night and enjoy a nice drink before dinner.  The music was all the same, every night, with the same song....longed for a nice piano player.  The show were nice and some of the talent brought in where excellent.  We bought the dining package so ate at the three extra restaurants in the package.  Murano was excellent, Tuscan Grill beyond expectations so ended up eating their 3 times.  The total disappointment was the Silk - I enjoy good Thai/Viet food - what a disappointment- everything was soy based - when I asked about their "style" she said they have "westernized" everything.  Not good.  We selected the classic beverage package.....only thing was that their wine selection was limited and boring.  Finally upgraded to the premium package but found out most of their wine by the glass was sold old. Because of the addition of the "Suite" dining room, the main room has now lost 150 seats....we were NEVER able to find a set table - some of the food was good some bad.....the menu was one page - offering mostly the same appetizers every night.  One night we couldn't face the "Hall" one more time so ate at the café.  No, we would not cruise again on Celebrity but YES we would use the booking company we did AGAIN.

Surprised

Great Food by 4mbrian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food in the specialty restaurants was the superb.   The service at all levels was very good.   The ports of call could be better.

Formal nights are no longer truly formal, this is good news for some and not so good news for others.

Great trip by tflynn308

This was our 19th  cruise.  We consider it one of the best.  The Celebrity Equinox ship was outstanding.  Food was great, entertainment out standing and the service in all areas was all you could ask for.  We signed up for another Equinox cruise in 2017 while on the ship.  Great value for the money as well.

A pleasant surprise and a great experience by hansh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

If it hadn't been for the very rocky embarkation process, the whole experience would have been great.

From the surprisingly large cabin to the dining, to the shows, to the enrichment talks, to the glass blowing exhibition everything was great, Our cabin housekeeper and our waiters at dinner helped make the experience special.

It is just a shame that 9 days passed so quickly.

Cruise it self GREAT. Getting onboard AWFUL. by whymama20240

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

We waited in line to get on ship for 2 and 1/2 hours. This is unacceptable. Even tho the cruise was the best, we are not sure we want to cruise with Celebrity again. Nobody told us what was happening. Water was brought out after 2 and 1/4 hours. People were hurting from stranding line so long.

Clelbrity Equinox - Caribbean Cruise by rlehnes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

The Equinox is a beautiful and very clean ship. The crew, restaurant and cabin staff were wonderful. The food excellent!!! The onboard entertainment was amazing including the ship's singers, dancers and live orchestra. The guest entertainers were great. The unique Hot Glass Show is fascinating.

Except for the long wait at check in, the cruise was a perfect 10!

Celebrity Equinox Caribbean Cruise by forejoeb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

The staff on Celebrity Cruise lines is excellent.  The ship's officers are visible and interact with the passengers even participating in some of the "game show" activities.  The food was excellent every night with a good selection.  The itinerary was good with stops at Martinique and St Kitts, two destinations we had not visited.  Celebrity had to use a different terminal in Ft Lauderdale for embarkation and that process was not good. We did use a different terminal for debarkation after the cruise and that process was much smoother.  Many passengers are using the express departure handling their own bags so the lines are pretty long, but once the debarkation started the lines moved fairly quickly.

January Cruise by vrl2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

We were very pleased with the overall experience on the Celeberty Equinox . The specialty restaurants were the best part of the cruise. The main dining room was very goo too. The wine prices were quite high for the small selection that is available. I sold wine for 36 years so to see prices 3 times my retail was a lot to swallow. The staff was very nice but again the only problem was the Wine specialist. It wasn't him personally but it took forever to get a bottle of wine every night in the main dining room. In the specialty restaurants it was perfect. Our rooms were fine but the location on the 6th level was right above the smokers on the deck below laughing and yelling until 2 in the morning EVERY night. Never again on that level. The location close to the elevator was great for my 89 year old Mom. I forgot to book her a handicap room so that is fomenting I have to remember to do on our next cruise.

Almost perfect by drssabatini

Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

It has been 2 years since we were on Celebrity Aqua class

Overall all our expectations were met in the restaurant as well as the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the crew.

Our free laundry arrived on time and was done well.  We used the laundry and the dry cleaning services.

The attentiveness by the cabin crew was good and our requests were always met.

We had one excursion which was really unsafe.  This was a snorkeling trip in Martinique.

The boat used was a ferry and it was quite crowded.

On the second stop, for some reason the ferry captain needed to move the boat about 40 feet farther away from where he was anchored.

There was no warning, no horn blown etc. and the anticipated swim was much longer than first expected.

My husgand does not snorkel so he was on the boat, saw me floundering and tried to get the captain's attention.  One crew member spoke only French and by the time the captain understood my dilemma and got the safety line to me I was at the ferry.

I know how to save myself in such an event but fortunately the sea was quite calm but it was a frightening experience.

I reported it to the excursion people so that they could take note of the event.  I was not  interested in any compensation. The travel desk handled it well.

Another event happened in the buffet at lunch at the salad bar.

I reached for a bottle of olive oil and the very large bottle about 18-20 inches tall, apparently had dripping oil on it.  Consequently the bottle dropped from my hand and the very small splinters and shards of glass was all over me and my foot including my dress.

The staff assisted me immediately and I was taken to the medical center where I was checked and a cut to my toe bandaged.

My concern was that there was no follow up after other than the nurse to see if I needed anything.  I could not wear my shoes for a few days and it did interfere with my enjoyment of the cruise.

When I went to the purser two days later to request some assistance for the ruined dress, they were most helpful and gave me a $50 credit to my account for the dress.

Fortunately when I checked the salad bar two days later they had replaced these very large oil bottles with smaller ones and some of plastic.

Bad start by petebar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

The boarding process at Port Everglades was horrendous. Standing outside in the sun for nearly three hours with no explanation of the delays and additional delays inside the building. A written apology days later was too little and much too late and did not really explain the issue.  The rest of the cruise was okay but tainted with the lack of customer care during the boarding. In addition some of the staff seemed unhappy or upset as if they were under some duress.

A great cruise! by cstidger

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

We cruised with 2 other couples.  We were greeted on ship with a glass of champagne-a nice touch.  It was lunch time so we went to the buffet for lunch.  We found a table without much trouble and enjoyed a leisurely meal while waiting for the third couple to arrive.  The embarkation was so slow due to a different terminal than normal.  We all got together for a drink and sail away.  There was mix up in table assignments and it was remedied the next night.  Food in the MDR was excellent so there was no need to eat at the specialty restaurants.  Mixed Drinks and wine were more expensive that they were a few months ago.  Pools were wonderful and we were always able to find a place to sit.  Love the solarium.  We did not like the production  shows however, the music was not at all familiar and themes of the shows were very different.  The guest performers were all good.  Love Captain Leo.  He was very visible and friendly.  He is so funny-loved the Liars Club show and his talk on ship navigation as well as his daily announcements from above.  Corning Glass show was amazing!!! Ports were St Thomas, St Maarten, St Kits and Martinique.  Not impressed with Martinique-lots of work needs to be done there.  I found the people to be friendly this is not what I had heard from my reading.  All 6 of us had a really good time and are very pleased with the Equinox and Celebrity.  We all would sail with them again!

An ok cruise by cruiser717

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was beautiful and the crew was one of the most friendly crews we've experienced.  That said there were some major disappointments.

The main dining room experience for quality of the food and service was significantly below standards.  The specialty  restaurants were good, but then again we were paying for this added experience.

The entertainment was disappointing.  The production shows, though colorful and with significant skilled performers was not directed at the demographics of the ship.  The headliners were better.  I'd rate the entertainment portion of the cruise a C- to a D+.

Boarding the ship was the absolute worst experience we've encountered and we have well over 25 cruises.  Long lines, no direction for Elite guests.  There was no accommodation for the Elite status until we had waited in line for well over an hour and half.  Absolutely miserable experience!!  This alone will ensure we never - ever sail on Celebrity again.

Disappointed by Cruiser347

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean

Food was not good in Blu. The dining room was badly run. Thelma tried to straighten it out but it was a problem when she wasn't there. Actually went down to silhouette dining room to get away from it.  Service all over the ship was poor except for ensemble bar where Andrea and Pedro took good care of us. Sailed on Equinox three times and have no idea how this cruise could have been so unacceptable. She was always such a friendly and we'll run ship with fantastic food and service. 😒

Celebrity Christmas and New Year's Cruise by skyeten69

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ports of call were quite good; lots of variety and many things for cruisers to enjoy.  That's why we wanted to be on this cruise.  The food was mediocre and

many others shared their feelings about this.  Some of the kids were quite unruly;

I had a shoe hit my head walking down the stairs.  Kids above kicked them off and

then ran down to find them.  It was a game for them.  I had to tell them they should be careful because they could hurt people.  Also, during some shows, kids were

told to leave, and they didn't.  Eventually, they disappeared, so Celebrity must have found a way to quietly get them out.  Overall, the staff was good.  Waiters excellent, but housekeeping not as on top of things as other cruise lines.
