On The Equinox On The (Spring) Equinox by Muehlings

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Very enjoyable, relaxing experience. The ship, including accomodations, was excellent. The on-board staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The menu and food in the main dining room was what we expected from Celebrity, outstanding. We found the specialty restaurants not to our tastes, and the one we did try, Tuscan Grill, the food was not worth the extra cost. The buffet (Oceanview Cafe) was great for breakfast and lunch, but not as good in the evening. Enjoyed the evening shows and on-board entertainment. The casino was "dead" most nights after 10 PM. Would recommend this cruise, and the itinerrary to other cruisers.

Excellent cruise with one suggestion. My husband is confined to a wheelchair and could not read the offerings in the cafe because they were on top of the food on the glass instead of vertical where he could read them.

Great way to spend my birthday with my family! by cblickle1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Eight of us enjoyed a great cruise to good destinations.  The ship was excellent.  The service was excellent and the food was very good.  We were in Aqua class.  We enjoyed the healthy food choices in the Blu dining room.  On my birthday we ate in Murano.  The food and service in Murano was 5 star!  The two things that we were not extremely happy with is that it does have an older crowd and there are not as many physical activities as some of the other cruise ships.  The other was that we felt that the nightly entertainment and shows were very mediocre. All in all we had a great time with fantasic weather.  I would recommend this cruise.

The ship experience was very good. This was my ninth cruise and the Equinox was tops.  The ports we visted were not at all pleasant  and I would not schedule any of them again.

a few negatives by mselna

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall a very nice cruise your  break down disclaimer about not waiting for guests that have booked trips onboard and for reasons  beyond  their control  (bus breakdown, accident, road close, ect.) put a damper on many guests trips that feared missing your sailing. We beleive baised on the cost of the cruise you could at least offer FREE water to people going ashore instead of selling it at the gang plank

Excellent Service by Restaurant and Stateroom Staff by michelezito

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Staff in the RestaurantS and our Room Attendents were Excellent.  The Food was fresh and well prepared however wished there had been more of a variety, seems the same sellection was offered during the duration of trip.  Furniture in Suite was worn, torn and repaired, pillows were not fresh, asked and received fresh bed pillows.  Each morning between 6:30 and 7 AM the outdoor patio of the 14th floor restaurant shifted the tables and chairs to wash down the floors which was loud and disturbing, would not book end units on that floor again.  Other than that, we had a GREAT RESTFULL TIME ON THIS CRUISE!

Great time....first cruise by croemd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a great time on the cruise.  Food, entertainment, and service was great.  I tell everyone that the only negative thing (and it's really not a big deal) is that it was an older crowd.  It might be nice for the ship to publish the age groups so people can book accordingly.

Western Carib Cruise by Delawarecruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very easy on but the port traffic is horrible. Getting off the ship was a disaster. We stood in line to go thru customs for 2 and half hours. My wife is hadicaped and no advance warning. It really put a sour taste in my mouth after a lovely trip.  The beach sucked in the beginning of the trip. I felt at  times like your cruise line is nickle and diming us to death. Your staff is great. Food in  the  Blu was grreat. Our waiter connected with us. The entertainment was wonderful.

Excellent Experience on Celebrity Equinox by CoupleCruising

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had an excellent experience on Celebrity Equinox.  We have cruised with several other cruise lines but Celebrity surpased them in many ways.  The service, dining, entertainment, ease of boarding, excursions, and disembarking  were all first class.

Best Cruise Ever! by OceanVoyager

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Everything from start to finish was excellent.  The room, the staff, the food, the ports of call, the activities were fantastic.  We are going to do this exact cruise again and ask for the same balcony room.  That's how satisfied we were.  It was a great memory.

Not close to what I expected by Zack

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First I was sold a bill of goods that the stateroom we paid for was a Sunset extralarge (suite size) room. Infact it was the same size as all the other balcony staterooms. Nothing special and it was a 500ft walk to the nearest elevator. It was in the stern so the engine noise was louder than normal and much rougher in turbid seas than a central stateroom. The food was mediocre in all respects including the "special restaurants" The buffet which in our experiance was not done well and the food was served like slopp. The ship itself was not pretty or salty, just a big monster. The service was generally very good overall. I can say thats the only really positive thing about the cruise. The ports were OK and the excursions the same. I chose this cruise because we had never been to all but one of the ports. The stays were not long enough to get a feel for any of the countries. The entertainment was excellent. All in all I was very disapointed in Celebrity from the last time we cruised with them. Finally the disembarkment at Ft Lauderdale was horrible took two and a half hours to clear customs depite the fact that every one was given a delayed departure.

Love Celebrity, not huge ships by travelsingle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I still think Celebrity is a good value, after cruising with them for many years (elite member), but the size of these ships leads some disappointment, especially for dining.  I am a single traveler and am happy to be seated with people at any table that is available.  I had open seating and tried to make a reservation immediately on the first day and was told, as a single, I would need to come and be seated that evening - no specific time.  After standing in line for 40 minutes, I was told I could either sit alone or wait another 1/2 hour.  I ate alone at the buffet.  Same thing the next night.  I finally met a couple in the lounge for elite travelers and asked if I could joint them for dinner and got seated.  When I complained to customer relations I was told that I could either be seated at 5:15 or 8:30 - neither of which is really acceptable.  I have not had this problem on any other cruise line - Holland America, Royal Caribbean, etc.  While the staff is excellent and service is great, getting on and off the ship in ports with no dockage is a nightmare with people getting sea sick waiting for the shuttles to be full.  I loved the hot glass show and had a good cruise because I had a balcony, elite perks and good entertainment, but I expected more based on prior experienc with Celebrity.

Beautiful, Big Ship by FriarTuck

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

There were many things about our cruise on the Celebrity Equinox we enjoyed.  The entertainment was excellent, both the guest entertainers and the on-board entertainment staff.  The ship is clean...public restrooms are spacious and clean.  The buffet in the Oceanview Restaurant was the best organized we have experienced.  Martini Bar was the place to go for some fun and refreshment.  We especially liked the Corning Glass Museum sponsored glass blowing demonstrations; a unique experience on a cruise ship.

Cabin was clean and wellkept by our cabin stewards.  Not a lot of storage space, particularly drawer space though.  The downside for us was there were just too many people around on the ship.  It was hard to find a place to sit on many occasions.  If you wanted a seat at the early dinner seating show, you would have to leave dinner early.  This led to a lot of seat and table saving...something we do not appreciate on a cruise ship.

The ports were good.  Shore excursions in Costa Rica and Belize were especially good.  Salsa and margarita making in Cozemel also a lot of fun.  Train ride in Panama was good too, especially for me as I was born in the Canal Zone and left as small child.

One year anniversary by BillandTeri

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My wife and I were married last January, both having been previously married - her for 30 years and myself for 39 years. It was her first cruise and my 8th. I wanted her to have a first class experience so we chose Celebrity since I had had several memorable sailings with you before. The cruise was everything we hoped for - beautiful ship, wonderful ports-of-call, good food, and great service. She (and I) can't wait until we go again.

Equinox cruise by Bigbadbob

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Geat ship.  Lots of activities.   Dining Room service was very good.  Balcony cabin worth the extra money!.  This was the second time we had been on this ship in the last 8 months.  Very user friendly ship;  Check in was very efficient and well organized.  Dining room food was quite good.  We did not dine at any of the specialty resttaurants on the ship.  Well equipped fitness center and lots of spa services.  Don 't miss the special brunch that is held near the end of the trip - ice sculptures, fantastic presentation of food - take your camera.  Three production shows were fantastic.  Other entertainment in the show lounge was better than average.  Ship is very clean and well maintained.  No areas ever seemed crowded, even though the ship was full.  Celebrity knows how to do it right.  This was our 36th cruise on various lines.

Great Relaxation and Variety by DocMelCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Had a wonderful time!  I have sailed numerous times on various ships and cruiselines. I found the staff and service on the Celebrity Equinox the BEST I have ever had.  We were in veranda cabins in the middle of the ship on deck 7 with elevators very close by.  I was a bit hesitant about the location, but we loved it and never heard anything from the atrium/elevator area. Traveling with someone with decreased mobility, being this close was very convienent.  We were fortunate to have good weather to enjoy the veranda.  Having 2 chairs and a larger table allowed for nice morning breakfasts on the veranda.

I have cruised Celebrity in the past, yet this time I found the food much improved.  We had thought about booking in the specialty restaraunt(s) but decided not to after the first couple of nights.  The selections were excellent and quality high.

Embarkation and debarkation were handled very well, with limited crowds or long lines; partly due to Celebrity organization and part from cooperative guests.  Daily ports of call were easy on and off.  Each port was unique, I can never say which is my favorite (I like them all); but the variety of St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Barbados, Dominica, and St. Maarten made for a nice combination.  The photographers on the dock and onboard were not as aggressive as on past cruises about photo opportunities (i.e. they respected a 'No,Thank you.').

Entertainment was good.  Nice variety - some to my taste, others not so much.  However, it is nice to have something to suit everyone.  The Equinox show was excellent as always and Gareth Oliver had me crying, I laughed so hard.  These were our best 2 nights in the theatre.

The fitness center was well equipped; however, the machines did not have fans, nor was there much air circulating in the room.  This made for very warm workouts.  The jogging track is also the walkway around the deck above the pool.  Traffic and lounge chairs frequently blocked or hindered having a brisk walk or jog druing the day and the high cross winds in the evening made jogging uncomfortable at night.

The pool deck was always busy, particularly on sea days, but I was always able to find a single chair.  The CelebrityLife activities (particulary by the pool with Zumba) were alwasy fun and long enough to enjoy, but not get bored or over done.

I would highly recommend this cruise for someone with the time to enjoy 4 sea days of relaxing and to have a variety of Caribbean ports.
