Lovely relaxing Cruise by Tushers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The App is a good idea - IF it actually worked, it gave misinformation and it didnt work to open your door. the Edge is ALL about Suite guests and the rich, no shops for every day shopping or to buy souvenirs. It is the first time I have gone away and felt actually poor. The one good thing was that staff did enforce the rules about no kids in the solarium, but I was surprised to see large lilos allowed in a crowded pool, dangerous I would off thought, especially with 450 kids on board.

Nice ship, but doesn’t live up to the hype. Lots of art, very few activities. by cwstnsko

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

EDGE delivers on what was advertised, but also took away many things we took for granted based on previous cruise experiences. Magic Carpet is a gimmick, it spent almost the entire cruise “parked” on deck 14, was closed for private functions much of the time. It appears that Celebrity is targeting a different demographic with this boat than their existing customer base. This was a common theme of our discussions with other passengers.

Amazing ship! Excellent staff, great... by Marj2017

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Amazing ship! Excellent staff, great food. Be prepared as others have written that the ship, entertainment, restaurants, and food break new ground in the cruising industry. Entertainment, not your traditional theater nor shows, but they should sell dvd's as much happens. Perhaps the background instruments should be toned down so the voice is heard more, but the sound is exceptional as is the choreography. Many new specialty restaurants. Fine Cut, great menu and food, Eden is funky with entertainment during your meal and after. The food is very good and presentation also excellent. The chef there is working on a Michelin star it's that good, and the first at sea. Le Petit restuarant offers a preset menu, with tabletop entertainment. Rooftop Garden is on the top deck with great bbq. Luminae service and food always excellent and this ship is even better. The Tuscan,Normandie and Cyprus restaurants are well done and very good food. The ship also has over 4000 peices of art, many are photographs, but are well worth exploring. The spa and its service are unique at sea but they do sell products. Yes, the entertainment may not appeal to everyone, nor Eden's entertainment but relax, you're on a cruise expanding your horizon.

The New Celebrity Edge by radon11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Loved the ship. Had a infinite veranda room. I think it will be a hit with some but not all. Celebrity really did a good job. Eden was a neat experience. The shows on board and overall entertainment was disappointing. They need to really step it up in that area.

Disappointing Caribbean Cruise by sswisher

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

In all the ship was fantastic but it seems Celebrity forgo about entertainment, Activities. The longer I was on the ship the less enchanted I was with the whole experience. Sad that a company with the status that Celebrity has failed with this one. Please do not change the other ships to this format. It was one of my worst cruises.

Excellent Ship by derekzurich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Very nice design. Exactly my expectation with form and colors. We are missing curtain in the room!!!! One person is sleeping and the other can seat outside. In the night I would like to check what happens outside ..., well, not possible. It takes to long to pull up the roll. Missing body mirror in front of bathroom. Definitely I like the Sunset Bar but with new furniture (super), but the bar is horrible; it is white like in a canteen, no bar feeling. The roof about the bar is tooo high! I personal like the Ocean View, its canteen but with the cold colors even more as canteen and not restaurant. The pool, spa, solarium etc are fantastic. We are looking forward to improvement on the other Edge class ships.

New Ship Not Outstanding by Nana24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was only our third Celebrity Cruise, having been on the Reflection & Solstice previously. With all the hype on the Edge we expected it to wow us. We found everything from the rooms, staff and ports of calls to be average. It is not worth spending the extra money Celebrity costs over other Cruiselines. I do not think I would go back on the Edge again, but would go back on the Reflection anytime.

Sailed on the Edge in... by carmel101bs

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Sailed on the Edge in December 2018. It was the inaugural Eastern Caribbean sailing. Loved the ship, it’s beautiful and stylish. We had veranda ocean view room not one of the infinity veranda rooms but I was fine with that. Still had a small balcony to sit out side with my morning tea. I liked the 4 different themed restaurant options. The food was very good in each of them. We only had cocktails on the Magic Carpet but it’s a fun place to hang out on the ship. We are not night life people so only did a couple of shows. One was ok, not really to my taste, but the comedian was hysterical. Overall we enjoyed our pre- Christmas trip very much. Always enjoy Celebrity ships. It was great to go on a brand new one!

I started out really disappointed... by tomkitten

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Edge

I started out really disappointed in the ship because so much of the burden of getting familiar with the ship depends on the not-quite-ready-for-prime-time app. The activities content in the app is not quite reliable, and the staff seem as confused by it as I was. However, once I gave up and decided to just allow the mystery to unravel on its own, I fell in love with this quirky vessel. For me, the best thing about this cruise has been the music. The live music is wonderful, the relentlessly hypnotic ambient music is delightful. I'm sure that it all contains subliminal spending suggestions. They should sell mix tapes of the voyage. That, I'd buy.

Very disappointed with The Edge... by Scorpius

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Very disappointed with The Edge maiden voyage. Ship not as spectacular as others we have cruised on. Hardly any activities, especially quizzes: those available required payment and the system using Smart technology crashed. The “drinks package” did not include most of the drinks on the menu & required extra payment per day to upgrade to a premium package for most of the drinks menu- a real con which we did not experience on a recent Princess cruise. Would not use Celebrity again. It was plain boring & there were too many restaurants which required additional payment which meant that some of those which did not were fully booked. The only good point were the dancers, who were excellent. I found Eden rather pretentious too. Never again.

The Celebrity Edge certainly is... by julieNmike

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Edge

The Celebrity Edge certainly is a fabulous ship with so many things to be impressed by and enjoy, but traditional she is not. Some of the new features perhaps need something of a rethink considering many of the comments from our fellow passengers? We really enjoyed our 7 day cruise from Ft Lauderdale and we’re hugely impressed with the quality feel of the ship, but it seems very obvious that Celebrity have set the Edge class to appeal to a younger demographic than their current clientele. The most visible feature is of course the Magic Carpet. This the the orange ‘lift’ which moves vertically between decks and doubles as a bar, restaurant and tender bay. Whenever Edge was in port we found that there would be a private function on the carpet, and for lunch and dinner the supplements are $40 and $75 respectively! On the occasion we got into the Magic Carpet bar, we quickly found out a major flaw - it is really windy! Pretty obvious really, but probably nothing an aeronautical engineer couldn’t fix with a wind tunnel and some deflectors, but having a half-full glass blown across the table is not good... The Eden Bar is very interesting, quiet during the day, with lots to look at. This includes a panoramic window overlooking the stern, faux plants and odd background muzak, far-out cocktails and mixers, but is perhaps more in tune with Avatarworld in Disney’s Animal Kingdom on an evening than as a nice venue to have a quiet drink. The swirling, pulsating lights and dry ice actually made me feel nauseous. The entertainment in Eden is weird to say the least, and we saw people leave almost as soon as they had arrived having briefly experienced ‘Eve’ looking vacant and wandering around in her golden dress. The circular theatre is very impressive with the partial surround back screen, but don’t expect any Broadway / West End style shows in there, everything we saw is cut from the same cloth as the Eden Bar; not really to our taste, but perhaps aimed at attracting the younger passenger (which is fine, but I don’t feel at all old - we’re in our mid 50s). I’m sure that many will enjoy this type of entertainment, but not us, I’m afraid. We loved the ambiance of the rooftop garden and the solarium, both of which have pleasant soothing background music, though the former usually has live music in the evening. The eye catching bow is not a new idea, but is unique in current Cruise shipping. It stems - I understand - from turn of the century military ship bows but has been proven to be highly efficient. Odd it’s taken so long to establish that again! There is virtually no symmetry or straight lines in the passenger areas of the ship which is great in that no two areas are alike; even the main pool is an irregular shape, forcing the sun beds into a similar pattern. Slopes or ramps between decks are not uncommon and are not just for the disabled. Included is the running track which is actually shaped like an 8 and covers three decks. State rooms are beautifully equipped but small but with ample storage despite noticeably low ceilings. I don’t think anyone we spoke to were keen on the infinite balcony concept as it feels like you’re still in your room. Staff are excellent as we always find on Celebrity and food in all four of the ‘complementary’ restaurants is quite superb. Embarkation took 10 minutes from dropping off our luggage to stepping on board. Amazingly, disembarkation was almost as speedy. We have, in the past, usually found Ft Lauderdale to be tediously slow. In summary, and amazing and fascinating ship, but we much prefer the Solstice class, and would return to them far sooner than to the Edge or upcoming Apex.

Cabin number:11241 Embarkation/Disembarkation: A very smooth process.... by TheWinds

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Cabin number:11241 Embarkation/Disembarkation: A very smooth process. Getting on the ship, we had used the online checkin and the app. We could have been onboard in 10 minutes. We had a wheelchair traveler that delayed us boarding for 10 minutes while waiting for staff to transfer between the terminal and ship. 30 minutes total was wonderful. Once onboard lots of pictures and welcome sparkling wine. Leaving the ship we did not have to exit until 9am. We cleared customs via face recognition. We cleared in 5 minutes. We did have to wait another 45 minutes for our wheelchair traveler to brought down. Concierge Class room: Our room was ready at 11:30, and we were permitted to store our bags and get our cards and daily paper. The room was beautiful. I’ve reviewed it separately. Disappointed to have to call to receive our wine and no fruit but at least it hadn’t gone warm. Our cabin steward did an awesome job. The Entertainment: I thought was wonderful. The three shows were excellent, especially A hot summers dream. Ron Sheridan provides a great show. The live music and entertainment throughout was fantastic. Sadly, so much to do we never got to see performances in Eden or the Rooftop. The Spa and barbershop: I had a fire and ice manicure with Althea which was superb and would recommend. The price was standard. My husband had a collagen facial and shave. He bought products as a first time goer...I didn’t. I also had the 1000 flower detox wrap and full body massage...the service was wonderful but for $400 the thermal suite should have been included. The Food: The Main dining rooms were great and we were able to prebook all four with Select dining. The downside is accommodating food allergies when ordering 24 hours ahead in a different restaurant...next time I will stick with traditional dining. The menus were 75% the same and the signature items did not rotate. Let petit chef was a fun tasty dining experience. I would do it again if there was a different menu on a second experience. The bar/sommelier service needed a bit more practice but we were on the first seven night voyage. The service: Impeccable as always. The Design: Full disclosure I am nearing forty... the colors were beautiful and elegant. The artwork was impressive. The layout of the ship is new and works... no more confusing partial deck areas except 15/16 when you are not suite class. I didn’t feel left out because I wasn’t in a suite. The areas were not overcrowded and flowed well. I love the new theater design. The magic carpet and new tenders were easy to use and well furnished. Overall: I think Celebrity did a great job with the new class. Many people want old or gimmicky features that don’t stand the length of the cruise ship. I think the new design allows Celebrity to constantly make changes and be able to keep up with the changing interests of the newer cruising generations.

Celebrity Edge was my first... by sanquase20

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Celebrity Edge was my first cruise with Celebrity Cruise line. All I can say is wow. It was an amazing experience trying something so innovative. The ship all around says luxury. From the amazing artwork to the venues design. It didn’t disappoint with wowing me. Such elegance. At night the pool area was lit up so pretty and the rooftop garden Is a wonderful area to relax and lay back. Eden is a wonder in itself with such a relaxing environment. The buffet area was amazing with so much to choose from. The show in the theater was some different and I would definitely go back n see it. There are areas in front of the ship that is catered to suite guest like the retreat and other restaurants. So there is a divide. The magic Carpet really is some unique and amazing. The French restaurant le bistro is a must try. It was a innovative way to eat dinner. Didn’t get to try the infinite Veranda but will definitely book again just to try them. The crowd age is a much older crowd so barely any kids or teens. So if you want a vacation to relax this is the ship. But overall the ship was awesome and doesn’t disappoint.

Life on the Edge-Not a Traditional Cruise Ship by cruisedivag

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The Celebrity Edge is a beautiful ship. I felt like I was at a luxurious spa resort hotel and truly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the ship. Food was wonderful, with lots of choices. However, I will probably never cruise on her again. I'm more of a traditionalist, and feel this ship is designed for the new Millennials and people that are more liberal in what they want in a cruise experience. I cruise because I love the feel of a traditional cruise ship, and Celebrity Edge is definitely not a traditional ship. This was my first Celebrity cruise, and I will definitely try them again.
