The Celebrity Beyond is beyond all your expectations. The ship and its crew are Outstanding!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
So easy. We booked the two day pre-cruise package. We got picked up the airport, had great tour guides in Rome, and then we were taken to the port (which was an hour away) by our driver.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
All of the food was incredible. The buffets had so many choices. We particularly liked Le Voyage. Our waiter, Sasha, provided top rated service.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
When we were on board, we took advantage of the outdoor pool and the hot tubs in the Solarium. The Solarium is a great place to take a nap. :) When we were in Marseille, I watched the movie on deck (which started 30 minutes prior to its advertised time on the App).
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were stunning!! Amazing dancers, singers, and acrobats. If we ate dinner early, we typically went to the shows twice because they were so good! Stage Door and The Artists were our favorites. Matt Johnson was amazing.
Children's Programs
We didn't bring kids!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Anthony was an excellent Steward. Our room was always done whenever we came back. We don't know how he did it so fast. As mentioned earlier, Sasha, provided us with great service in Le Voyage. All of the staff in Oceanview were incredible.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We loved the ship and all the well thought-out quiet spaces. The restaurants were well laid out as well. We never had to wait for a table anywhere. Plenty of places to sit in the sun and read a book. The entire ship was spotless and it didn't go unnoticed that no one on the ship was above picking up a dirty dish or a piece of trash on the ground.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We loved our cabin. It was so roomy and so well laid out. We had plenty of storage which we really appreciated!
Ship tip
As cruise newbies, we probably should have visited the Concierge to better understand our offerings.
We did two excursions. Our tour guides knew so much about Rome - it's really overwhelming how much history was there. You can't not go and try and see the Colisseum (which we did on our own the first day). Our Guides took us to the other "hot spots" (Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican City) and provided a lot of information about each place we visited.
This was a great port... but we were extremely disappointed with this excursion. We spent far too much time on buses and trains and not enough time near the water or getting to see these very charming towns. Our first stop after being on a bus for over an hour was less than 30 minutes and our second stop required us to do the wine and food tasting (which was not great) and put us in town during a very busy lunch period. We had just an hour to eat and pay our bill WHICH IS NOT ENOUGH TIME in Italy. It takes 30 minutes minimum to pay a bill in Italy. Our guide did not know English very well, nor could she recommend a place for us to have lunch. This was the place I was most looking forward to seeing and the excursion was an incredible disappointment.
We went on the 4 hour tour to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We knew going in that half of the time would be spent getting there, which was OK (even after the disastrous experience in Portofino). Our Guide was excellent and we enjoyed getting to see the Leaning Town and seeing Pisa.
We had an excursion which we cancelled based on our Portofino experience. When we arrived in Marseille it was raining and we were pretty tired from all of the touring we had done up to this point. All of our friends who had visited Marseille in the past said it was a good one to miss.
We did Barcelona on our own... and if fact we stayed two extra days. What a beautiful city! Next time we travel, we would be more likely to start from Barcelona.
So easy! And boy were we surprised when we say Luigi there to say to good bye to each and every passenger. I literally got a lump in my throat when I saw him there and I gave him a hug. He is a spectacular Cruise Director. He made everything fun and easy to understand. I found myself missing him in the mornings (no Luigi TV in Barcelona) and in the evenings where he was seemingly everywhere.
