First Cruise and was not real happy with service by Philb022273

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was not as good as I thought it should be. I felt the service was not good. I also was disappointed with my excursion booked through Carnival. When I asked for a refund they basically laughed at me. I feel they should credit me for a full cruise for all six of us. I will never use Carnival agin.

Great for families! by Newbtocruising

Constant activities... not matter what you want to do, you can find it going on somewhere on the ship!  Camp Ocean was a really great feature for families with small children. Definitely worth it, our children had a blast!

Mixed Feelings by ReadyToGoAgain

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Vista cruise started out bad.  We were given an 11:30 boarding time and did not get on the ship till 2:00 P.M. because of disorganization.  The atrium with new décor was a big disappointment.  The Liquid Lounge seating was awful.  There were no signs indicating where the restrooms were and there were no clocks in pool area and other prominent gathering spots.

That was all the bad features.  Food was very good.  Room steward was good.  The juggler entertainment was excellent.  Entertainers were fine, but music was not to our liking.

Carnival Vista by djerford

Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I enjoyed most of the cruise.  My room was very comfortable and quiet.  It was located on deck one in the middle of the ship.

What I didn't enjoy was the auditorium that was used for the evening performances.  The layout of this part of the ship was very poorly done in my mind.  I went to some of the shows but couldn't see most of the performance because I either had a post in front of me or the seat in front of me what too high to see what was going on.  By the end of the cruise I wasn't really interested in going to see the performances because I couldn't enjoy them and just got frustrated.

I thoroughly enjoyed Matt, the piano guy, who played our requests.  He had a clean sense of humor when I went to the earlier shows.  I am not interested in adult rated comedy, so I usually was back in my cabin by 10..

Our cabin steward did a great job!  He called us by name every time he saw us.  Such great personal service.  I don't recall his name but he cleaned our cabin #1307.

Overall had a great time. by jansanso1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My favorite port on this cruise was Aruba.  The best thing about the cruise was that we had Carnival's BEST cruise director Matt.  He is awesome.  The entertainment was excellent! The food was very good, better than on most large ships.  My biggest complaint about this ship is the elimination of a theater.  They have a lounge that converts to a theater which has chairs in the center and no elevation.  Therefore if you want to see a show you have to get in line an hour before the show to get a decent seat.  You can't see in the back and the balcony has many poles which obstruct your view.  The comedy club is the same.  If you want to see a show you have to line up an hour ahead of time.  Bottom line is the entertainment venues and the pools are not large enough to accommodate the number of guests onboard.

Great family experience! by raylenkris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed everything from the selection of food to the smile on every staff member. Excursion and photos are too pricey, I almost wish there was a discount package, or something to help us buy more pictures and go out to excursions with big groups. I'm very impressed with the staff organization and attention to detail. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely go back!

Worst trip ever by kjackson64

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. My family and I were on the Vista 01/22/17. I have thought long and hard about sending this letter. We love Carnival do to the fact that we got married on the Miracle in 2006. Let me give you a little background info and then you may understand why I had to write this letter. When we got married we had a son who is Autistic. Over the years life does happen and we separated in 2015. I lost family my house,2 cars, and my apartment that year.in 2016 I retired from my job in Law Enforcement. With a lot of work we decided to make things work and got back together. So what better way to start thing over than with a cruise where it all began. I took the last bit of my retirement money and booked a cruise. We were so excited about this cruise. A big ship this time.

Well from the time we got on board we had one thing after another. We go to our room and it's dirty. There was stuff from the past guest still in the room (ear rings in the sink, paper, hair in the drawer). We ask to have the room cleaned they had to do it 3 times because after each cleaning we would find more dirt. I sleep with a C-Pap machine. I brought a power strip with me but on the TV it said not to use mine. So I asked for one it never came that night. Asked again in the morning and got one after calling again at midnight. That was day 1.

Your guest services tried to fix the problem. They gave us a fruit basket and a $50 spa card. We knew we would have to add money other then the $50 to have a service done. Since there was no Spa price list in the room my wife called. She explained about the card and how much it was. Before she could finish her sentence the person on the phone stated that there treatments start at $100 and hung up the phone.

My wife went to the jewelry store to by a silver cleaning cloth. She was asked were she bought the idem she wanted to clean. She told them back home he handed her the dirtiest cloth he had. Then she asked if they sold Pandora charms. She was told that they done care inferior products in there store. Our 13 year old Autistic son picked it out himself for Christmas. I'm glad your people pointed out to my wife the it's cheap jewelry.

For formal dinner I did my wife's hair. I asked at guest services if there was somewhere I could get some hair spay cheap. I was told only in the salon. I bought hair spray for $34. The next morning I found it in the shop for $10. At dinner that night one of the waiters hit my son in the head with a tray of food so hard he had to stop to balance

Tray. He said nothing to us, just looked at us and walked away. My wife booked a photo shoot because the photographer said it would be about $150 for the pictures. We did the shoot. Had to come back 3 time to see the pictures because they were busy. Even though we came back at the time we were told too. He showed us the pictures and then told us that they were $1100. We only bought 6 for $200. If the everyday pictures sell For $19.95. Why did we have to pay $35 each .this is why we are looking into another Cruise line. I hope this letter helps you with future guest. I told everyone at my job at Walt Disney world that your line was the best. And the is what I got in return. Thanks.

Very disappointed with this ship by Vacationfun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I was very disappointed with this ship. I expected to see a show every night in the Liquid Lounge. The seating in the lounge was horrific. Absolutely poor planning. Also the staff in the buffet area did not greet us unless we said good morning first. My husband stated something to our dinner waiter and the remainder of the cruise each person we saw in the buffet greeted us with a warm and friendly smile.

MY EXPERIENCE by taxplus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I GUESS THE CRUISE DIRECTOR WAS THE BEST PART OF VISTA

I WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE SHIP EXCEPT FOR THE SHOWER AND THE SKYRIDE

FOOD WAS DISAPPOINTING AND WE WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER GO ON A CRUISE AGAIN WITH ANYTIME DINING. WE REQUESTED TIME AFTER TIME TO THE LATE DINING AND COULD NEVER GET IT.  VERY UNORGANIZED TO GO TO ONE DECK TO STAND IN LINE THEN GET A BUZZER AND GO TO ANOTHER DECK TO WAIT ONLY TO BE TOLD NOW TO GO TO ANOTHER DECK TO EAT. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING.

THE EXCURSIONS WERE GREAT AND THE STEWARD WAS ALSO.

Hard to enjoy in bad weather by wsucougarx

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I am a first time cruiser, 31 years old, traveled with 3 friends. We had bad weather throughout the trip, causing a missed first port, last minute cancellations at second port for excursions, and not a lot of comfortable weather for spending time on deck. This will create bias in my review, I cannot help that, but I am trying to be fair.

Ship

The draw for me for choosing this ship was all the outdoor activities. Bad weather kept the ropes course and bike closed a lot. When they were open, the lines were long. I got to do the ropes, it was harder than expected but I loved it. Never did the bike because I didn't want to stand in line for over an hour. I would assume the lines wouldn't have been as bad if we had been able to have it open more. The weather kept most of us off the decks as well, causing crowding within the ship. It made it hard to be comfortable in bars, at events, etc. So to me the ship doesn't handle bad weather well. The rumors of the elevators are true, they do tend to take a long time. Plan at least an extra 15 min to get anywhere if you want to ride them. The layout of the ship was confusing, kept getting cut off on the decks we wanted to walk through. That is probably my inexperience, but more signs would be nice to stop me from walking half a deck before I realized I couldn't get where I wanted. I thought the set up for the night club was cool. The piano bar was nice. Red frog pub needs to be bigger to handle the people, but nice. Also, the Havana Bar was cool, but too small as well. My favorite spot was deck 11 on the railing areas with the view of lido. The ship was clean did not look run down at all.

Room 1302, deck 1

Very cool room. We had 2 bathrooms, on with a tub/shower and sink and the other with toilet, shower and vanity/sink. Made getting ready much quicker. Comfy beds and easy to use thermostat. We had a window, and being that close to the water is great. I think it may have been louder hearing the waves hit the boat, but ear plugs took care of that.

Food (any time)

Dinner food was always good. Service was slow unless you made it to earlier times (5:30). My favorites were the mushroom soup, fillet mignon, and stuffed mushrooms. There were a lot of options. Breakfast in the dining room was always prompt and good. Lido wasn't usually very special, but food was decent. I did love the corn fritters. Sweet spot ice cream was good, soft serve was not very good. The other desserts were better than most buffets I have been to. Great salad bar too. Breakfast was better than lunch and dinner for flavor. Guys was awesome. Very good burger. Pizza was better than I expected. I got gluten free and usually gluten free isn't real great, but it was good.

Bars

All drinks I tried were good. Favorite was the Hurricane Wave. The alchemy bar maritinis were amazing, but spendy. The bars were almost always crowded, especially Red frog Pub, making it hard to get drinks.

Spa

Too spendy, people I spoke to trying to ask about deals were confusing and pushy. If you want something, book it ahead online for better prices.

IMAX 3D and amazing, I don't have access to IMAX locally. Very cool

Excursions

DO NOT do tiki beach with chair and 1 drink in Grand Caymen through carnival. We originally booked something else, it got cancelled as we were at the port waiting for it to start (weather). We had no warning and had never been there before so we ended up signing up for the Tiki beach out of confusion and time constraint. It was a ride to the beach, a chair to lay on, and a very watered down tiny drink. You can do this for about 20 bucks if not through carnival, and we paid 52$. The beach was fine, just didn't need to pay 52$ to get there. DO the Cozumel private VIP catamaran all inclusive. Only about 20 people if that. Great crew, very friendly. The drinks were strong and you never felt like you couldn't have one due to lines or the crew not serving you. The snorkel wasn't great, very pressured to stay too close, but they were trying to keep us safe (weather, high traffic area). The rest of the ride was well worth it. Seriously great, even though I dropped my phone into the ocean and said bye bye forever.  We also did Miami everglades air boat, very good, lots of alligators. The food in the restaurant is better than it seems it would be based on the looks of the building.

Staff

Cruise directors are awesome, and rest of staff is friendly and hard working

Vista Rocks! by Cruiser51428904

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

this Carnival ship is gorgeous, has a retro feel to the décor, colors are great, the atrium centerpiece is spectacular with its changing scenes, the shopping and eating layout is much better and even though it is a large ship - moving from one end to the other is easier than on most large ships, it has more floors that travel the length than most ships too, I never felt like I was forever walking to get somewhere which was very nice, crew is very nice and always smiling, they seem to enjoy their job and are proud of the ship, the food selection in the Lido Marketplace was better than I've experienced on any other ship I've sailed, was not impressed with the dining room though, service was very slow and food was not as good as I expected, we stayed in a Spa Balcony cabin which was very nice, the only problem I found was the balcony was dirty when we arrived and was made even worse when the outside of the ship was cleaned while in port. overall the cruise was great and I would recommend this ship for your next vacation

Would NEVER cruise on Vista again. by dollyco

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

As a frequent cruiser, this was the worst cruise we have ever experienced.  Staff not that friendly, long lines to wait at bars to get a drink, buffets have little variety, Cat in the Hat was out for a photo opp at 9:30 at night when the kids were already in bed.  Splash park not set up very conducively for parents to sit around all sides to watch the kids.  Water was freezing in the splash park.  Re-thinking if we will ever cruise Carnival again.

Nice, new ship. Cabin steward was great.  Waiters on Deck 4 Horizans restaurant need to provide better service!  Ocean was rough and the weather very windy most of the cruise.

Party Ship by jenniferbrandon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was so much fun. The cruise director, Matt, and his helper Cookie were extremely entertaining and kept the whole ship rocking and laughing! My highlight was the lido dance party when Matt got a lady off her scooter and twerking....words cannot fully paint this picture. Luckily it's burned into my retinas and provides me with a smile for years to comeat.

Great food in the restaurants, exceptional entertainment, and nicely appointed staterooms.  I would have given 5 stars, but we couldn't dock in Jamaica, so that was sad, but Matt and his associates made it anow extra fun day at sea!Happy

great friends by cgacegmaurer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

I feel the staff is slipping.  You don't get called by your first name, or really treated well anymore.  Much better treatment  years ago. 1 bartender and 1 waitstaff stuck out in our mind. and our bar bill was over 1100.00!  We had 9 people on board, 2 newbies!!   Stick to personal care. tell staff to smile, when ever we walked down the halls from am to pm, we always moved out of the way of staff and said Hi with a smile, maybe 2 times we got a smile back!!!!  Work on it, norweigen is looking better...... plainium or not!
