Wonderful Ports Ok Ship by acaswell4592184

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Overall it was a great cruise. I think that he price of the cruse is so high because of the wonderful ports, so as long as you go into it with clear expectations you are fine. We have been to every place in the Caribbean now so next time we will cruise for the ship not the ports and we will take Royal Caribbean.

Great vacation. The trip went very smooth. Long way from miami to aruba, but it worth it every minute. We truly enjoyed this ship and their friendly staff. The shows were awesome and the cruise director is simply the best! Thanks guys.

A Great Cruise by AGreatCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I enjoyed everything from the booking to cruise it self. Iwill be back to cruise again on the VISTA. One thing when booking future cruises the sale person need to ask if you would like the cruise protection. Because it was not offer when I book my next cruise in July 2018.

First Cruise by mea640

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I really enjoyed a lot of things on this cruise, the staff was fabulous, the food, amazing! The ship itself was clean and in good condition. What I didn't care for was the fact that I purchased the "bubbles" (unlimited soda) and had to go to a bar every time I wanted one. (Room service wouldn't deliver me a soda at one point). I also didn't like the pools, there were only 2, and it was either barley cover your feet with water, or be in 6 ft. of water. There was also a very strong, pungent smell the entire time, I wasn't sure if this was normal though, so I don't know if I can report that as a complaint? The IMAX theater was wonderful, so were the shows, and again, the staff was phenomenal! Good experience for my first time!

Carnival Vista Fun time by tlinz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

my overall experience on this cruise was good. It was a lot of fun the cruise director was amazing and kept the guest entertained. The food was also delicious the appetizer meat balls were my absolute favorite, wish they would've had them every night. The French toast and has browns were amazing for breakfast. The only down side about my experience was the formal dinner night. We had to wait one hour for our table and were given a buzzer as if we were waiting at red lobster. They should have given assigned eating times which is what most cruises do. The other factor was there was an all white attire party which we were not aware of. I'm not sure if this was communicated to people when they booked their cruise. But this something that we were not notified of so I was disappointed and we did not participate in the party that night.

Good Time by All by CLM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Paid a little extra so we could have access to the Harbour Lounge however, it was a disaster from day one.  The lounge had hot chocolate and coffee and water and ice and ice cream machine.  I thought it would have a drink machine with the ice tea and lemonade but it did not.  That was a disappointment.  They had a breakfast and light lunch which was very nice you didn't have to fight the Lido deck on port days. But the room was quickly taken over by kids and they destroyed the room daily.  Games and cards all over the floor where you could not walk and ice cream machine left running where ice cream was everywhere.  When I called the front desk and explained how the kids were destroying it and explained that there were stewards in the hall way but not saying a word the lady at the front desk said they could not say anything to the the kids the parents would have to do that.  She would send someone to check out the room.  I get that Carnival does not want to put a negative vibe out however it was a negative vibe for me and my family who paid extra to have this amenity that we could not enjoy.  The young man working (Lee) was working his butt off trying to clean up as fast as the kids were messing up.  The cruise it self was great.  Bed and pillow were so comfortable stewards were excellent.  The dance and singing shows in the evening were a lot to be desired however the comedy shows were excellent.

Best vacation ever by CathyMcCoy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

I have two favorite things about my cruise.  Having Matt Mitcham as the cruise director and my stop in Cozumel Mexico. The only down side was trying to catch the elevator,  but with 5,000 people or more that was to be expected. I would recommend a Carnival cruise to everyone I know.

Vista or Bust by Jojofo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was super excited to get on board the ship and see the moderness of it.  The ship was the most modern of any I have been on in recent years. I must say things got off to a rocky start because my anticipation.  I was expecting to  be wowed  and I was not.  Please do not get me wrong at the end of my vacation I was all smiles and did not want to leave.  I did not like the shorter ceilings which took away from the grandness of the Ship.  In my opinion there were many great ideas on this ship, the bars, food, water works rope activities, comedy and more.  This was the first Ship I have been on that did not have great shows.  They were 4th rate at best.  So much so that they were not highly advertised.  I stumbled upon a show just walking about the ship.  The movie on the first night was great and then things went down hill.  The other movies were slow and the crowd felt the same since there were much less folks watching on subsequent nights.  The waterworks park and skyride opened at noon and closed at 4:30 each day.  WHY????  Even on sea days this was the case.  As a result the lines were so long that one could have easily spent about 2 hours in line.  Of course the casino was open late.  The cruise director was out and about and very friendly but he did stiff the crowd on the Quest game.

NOW....the steakhouse is not to be missed.  It is well worth the $35 per person.  From beginning to end the morsels that hit my lips made my soul dance.  My Steward Jaran was awesome!!!!  He attended to every detail. Each time I entered my room after he left; I had a big smile on my face.

Long story short, I was not a fan of the layout of the ship as so many things were closely packed together but I had a good vacation at the end of the day.  Wink

And for my travel agent Mitch, you are AWESOME and have a client for life

Long line at the Buffet ( LIDO Market ) by delafervu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My favorite part of the Carnival Vista cruise is the islands, These Islands that other Cruises didn't stop. Other cruise ships repeating to the same Island, Like Bahama / St. Thomas / Haiti / Etc..

My lease favor of the Carnival Vista is long line at the Buffet ( LIDO Market ), less variety of lunch buffet or breakfast. Also the flooring are so slippy, I have seen some almost fall due to slippery floor. I have new tennis shoe and still slippery when walk into the Lido Market. Have to walk like walking on the moon, to prevent from slip.

Entertainment it's not great!.. All entertainments are singing ( Boring ). Need to accomodate to all ages, not just adults. More show like magic / comedy / something like Vegas show, etc...

Small work out ( weights room ).

Great Family Cruise! by lrutledge

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

I enjoyed my time on the carnival vista. I think the activities (outside of the casino and the club) could have been extended because there was not much do to after 11:00 am.

Good, but not Great by candmslabach

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was a brand new cruise ship, but it still had a lot of kinks to work out.  The wait staff in the Horizons dinning room was AMAZING.  Olie and his crew worked their butts off and knew everyone by name after the first few minutes.  My wife is gluten-free and they catered to her each and every meal.  The entertainment was ok, but could be much better.  It seemed like most of the activities were geared towards the kids, which is fine, but the adults are the ones that need the vacation. :)

If you have a chance to go on the Vista before October, make sure you check out the piano bar with Elizabeth.  She is amazing and will leave you in stitches by the end of the night.

Overall, minus the fact that we were unable to dock in Curacao due to Tropical Storm Brett, this was a good experience.

Loved the Vista, staff was amazing ,very entertaining. by Cruiser78311513

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The flying Scotsman was awesome and talented . I would add self serve drink machines for people that bought the bottomless bubbles package . It was hot drinks on ice and they were always flat . And I don't think we should have tonqait on a coke that long . We don t drink so going to the bar isn't our favorite thing.

Horrible Service! by jpoulson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

AngryBoat was great, however we were woken up at 4am each night of our cruise (except 1) with the sound of crashing dishes or dumping/dragging silverware.  We complained to two people, they came up to investigate, couldn't discover where it was coming from.  Called the customer service multiple times, even at 4am when it happened, but since it only happened for a couple minutes each night they couldn't determine the cause either.  My wife's mother just passed away and we were trying to enjoy some relaxation time.  Instead, we got hardly any sleep, were groggy during the days and basically told that we were "lying" about noises by the service desk.  We paid extra for the nicer accomodations and were not offered any sort of comfort or compensation for the mess they would not fess up to.  Horrible experience.

deck party, but the lido deck is slippery and there were lots of falls. They needed to be a little more diligent with the removal of water. The elevators were much better than the last time

Enjpy by donaldmcpherson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall it was very enjoyable. Matt was great as the director. Jai and the night auditor from Zimbabwe at guest services was phenomenal. Our statesroom attendant was excellent. Kimjal the sandwich person on the Lido deck was wonderful. (sometimes she was the only person working at the sandwich shop and lines on both sides). Lenardo and Ronald in the dining were exceptional.

Downsides were too many lines especially on the Lido deck. The bar attendants at the pool on the Lido deck were not very responsive. Did not have good service one night at dinner and if Lenardo (who wasnt even our person) hadn't have helped us it would have been awful. INTERNET was horrid! What a waste of time and money!! Loved Joe Molariti! Tom Foss was good at times but a little raunchy. Price was too expensive and too many people/lines.

Carnival 6 day cruise on the Vista by suntraveler58

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were so disappointed on our room location, two of our cabins were 8266, 8252 but my son's room was 6265 on the sixth floor which I asked for all three to be on the same floor. It was hard to gather together because of the rooms were so far apart, even though we used the phones in the room but if we needed something from one another's room this wasn't convenient for us, to meet up together was a problem and we wanted to stay together!  This is something I had worked on a year before we went so I don't know the problem was!

Fabulous Honeymoon Cruise by Crystal79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was fantastic! We enjoyed it for our honeymoon after having gotten married about 7 months ago. Our room steward, Francisco, was excellent - he was always extremely friendly whenever he saw us in the hallways, always greeting us by name with a huge smile on his face and asking how our day was going! We opted for the flexible dining time option for dinner, and were curious how this would go since in the past we have always done the traditional dining of a set time each night. It went great - we just went to ticket area each night and got a ticket for our seats right away (never any waiting). All but two of the nights, we got a private, two-top table. The other two nights, we were right next to other guests at larger tables, but that was fine. The food was delicious every night and the service was always incredible - never had to wait more than just a few minutes for each course and the servers kept our waters constantly filled. The buffet lines for breakfast were sometimes a little longer than I would have liked, but lunch was always quick - whether we were getting the buffet food or a Guy Fieri burger. One day we tried the Pig and Anchor Barbecue and it was delicious and not much of a wait! Our room was on the Lido Deck, which made me a little afraid that we might hear a lot of noise in our room, but we never did - everything was always quiet in the room, and it was nice to be so close to all the "action!" The Lido amenities (pools, water slides, deck chairs) were very crowded on at-sea days, but that is to be expected on a  ship that can carry almost 4,000 guests. My husband took advantage of the water slides, Sky Ride, and ropes course on the afternoons when we were in port since many people were still off the ship doing excursions at these times, and the lines were much shorter. We enjoyed three awesome excursions on this cruise too - a tour and beach break at Bamboo Beach Club in Jamaica, String Ray City in Grand Cayman, and Salsa and Salsa (and Margaritas!) in Cozumel. All three were excellent, although we most enjoyed String Ray City and Salsa and Salsa. I highly recommend both of these outings! All the shows on this ship were great - we caught two nights of comedy at the Limelight and three of the musical shows at Liquid ("Amor Cubano," "Flick: Movie Magic" and "America Rocks"). The performers were all fantastic! You can tell how much hard work they put in to giving stellar performances every night! For a small performance space, Carnival does amazing things with the sets, lighting and effects too! Besides some of the crowds and long lines on the ship at times, we only had one other minor issue. Some of our alcohol that we had checked was not delivered to our room as it was supposed to be on the final night. But, as soon as Francisco found out about this, he immediately jumped into action, making calls and checking all the different areas of the ship where it might be located. Within less than 30 minutes, he had found it and brought it up to our room (the sticker had either not been placed on the package when we checked it in or it had somehow fallen off, so it got misplaced). But we were not upset about this since Francisco did such an amazing job in tracking it down so quickly! Overall, we had an amazing honeymoon! Highly recommend the Vista and this particular cruise itinerary!
