You can take your own water and soda on the ship. When I researched this option and saw it was unavailable or I was not permitted to do so and chose to purchase drink packages, I was truly unhappy when boarding and going through security to only see people checking water and carrying boxes of soda onboard. Recommend if you desire to take your own beverages (water/soda) you inquire further as to not wind up like me who didn't take any and wish I had.

Make sure you have heat! Also, please don't expect the normal Carnival good food in the dining room, as a lot has been cut back or skimped on . It is still good, but not what I am use to on a Carnival ship.

Just relax. People will be anxious getting on and off the ship, so if you relax that will help you enjoy the cruise more. Do not join the "anxious" crowd.

Perhaps make excursions easier to depart boat: times, place. The steps departing the boat for sites we scary. I like solid plank better.

try to book a room in mid ship if one of your company has bad motion sickness. Our first time to cruise and this is the one important lesson I learned.

Take your own luggage on board. Unfortunately mine was broken and I only ended up with three wheels on my suitcase from the ground up to the boat to my room on arrival. Customer service were complete assholes and told me that I should empty my suitcase and bring it up and they would tell me where to go buy a new one.

Love sailing on the smaller vessels. We always book a cabin at the rear of the boat. Quicker access to the Lido deck restaurants and morning coffee.
