Ship: Carnival Pride

Love the layout and flow of the Pride, easy to navigate. The Pride is full of charm and though it isn't the biggest or fanciest of the ships I've been on, it is definitely my favorite ship so far!

Embarkation was a breeze! Do... by matthewfreil

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Pride

Embarkation was a breeze! Do NOT show up at the port before 1130am though or you will not be let on property. We had FTTF and we're in the terminal within 15 mins of arrival, through security in another 10, checked in and seated for boarding in a total of 30 minutes. After a short wait for the Platinum and Diamond guests we were on the move and on the way to our cabin. Cabin 4133 was a 4K, interior with a French balcony, it was spacious, and comfortable, flat panel TV, and French balcony doors that opened to open air and sea breeze. Our stateroom service was great, our steward was tentative and friendly. Food across all dining venues was great. If you're expecting Michelin stars, you'll be let down, but the menus were varied, and all tasty. Blue iguana served up tasty breakfast and lunch items (huevos, arepas and burritos), Guys Burgers (tasty, greasy and always hit the spot). The Chefs Table experience was phenomenal as always and does rival a Michelin meal with a detailed tour of the galley, and chats with the chef de cuisine. Davids Steakhouse was another great speciality meal, superb service and high quality food. Entertainment on the ship was seemingly above par too. Live music on Lido from a Caribbean steel drum duo, the piano bar was a good time and the musician was funny to boot. Trivia at multiple venues and with different staff was always engaging and fun. The ship overall has a ton of seating areas to just meet up with people, dive into a good book or play a game or two of cards. The themed bars are always fun, Alchemy has great and inventive cocktails and if you have an idea and some flavors the "alchemists" will not disappoint. The red frog pub always had live music and yummy beer on tap. The rum bar and tequila bars had a smattering of drinks that never disappointed. All in all a great cruise that was super convenient to get to and get back from.

Ship: Carnival Pride

Very nice ship. Easy to get around. Something for everybody. For dining, ask for Milos table 384 on deck 3, he gave excellent service. Decent sized pools compared to Victory. My boys loved the water slides. Go early for everything, Seats fill up fast.

Cruise Carnival Pride by ronehall

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our second Carnival Cruise and the first on the Pride. Overall, very satisfied with the ship and staff. Trip was from Baltimore with stops at Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Freeport.  The Baltimore port was extremely easy to get in and out (drove POV). Pride is not a large ship, but plenty large. Cruise Director was very good.

Sales, sales, sales by VIANNE1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Most of the activities centered around sales.  Excursions, didn't have any other info on ground travel or independent activities, even said when asked: "We are here to sell excursions". Fun Shops multiple opportunities to join raffles with purchase, sales events on over priced goods.

Art Auctions with increasing pressure to buy after first purchase.  Disappointed with art when received, not as remembered--frame and matting covered much of picture not showing edition number and with spot on matting.

No heated pools and "hot tubs/whirlpools/jacuzzies" were cool. Entertainment was mediocre: comedy, music, shows were mostly performed by cruise line employees who also had other duties. Recreation/entertainment staff were overly perky and annoyingly sweet, and unintelligible over the loud speaker.

The wait staff, cabin stewards, and other service people were polite and helpful, even if they didn't really understand you.

A snafu occurred on first excursion day when we were all called to wait in the Taj Mahal to be called for debarkation for tours. There called those with cabanas and beach suites first, neglecting priority and early tour times. So tours were cut short or rushed.

The food was excellent, but not as plentiful or varied as on the Royal Caribbean line, which also has better entertainment: impersonator, ice show, educational/informative talks, and shows.

Picture sales were over priced, no packages only individual photos at $23, $15, $10, CDs of all photos not available only of each photo for an additional fee to purchased photo for $10.

Spa service typical, limited specials, but did have a free class for facials, and on losing weight, posture, acupuncture, etc.  of course leading to use of their services or products. My husband did have a massage with hot stones (mine on special) that were relaxing after a day of zip lining, horseback riding, dune buggy riding, snorkeling, and kayaking (excursions).

The Steak House was superb, $35 for 4 courses, surf and turf delicious, as was the chef specialty of lobster BLT! Given as an extra treat.

The dining room manager, Ken was also an Irish Tenor who serenaded us each night, followed by the staff who danced one of six different routines. My waiters Samet, Richard, and the 2 others whose names I can't remember at this moment were great and attentive, remembering our names and preferences. They have so much energy

My husband and I sailed... by kram70932204

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Pride

My husband and I sailed on the Pride last week and it was absolutely marvelous and we had a wonderful time. So wonderful that we are planning to take the exact same cruise next year! It was our 30th wedding anniversary during our trip and decided to dine at David's Steakhouse for our special evening. The service and food was exceptional and the restaurant brought us champagne and cheesecake after our regular meal for our anniversary. The other evenings we ate at the Main Dining Room and had anytime dining. A few evenings there was a little wait but usually only 15 minutes or so. The ship itself is beautiful. Not any of the neon and bling the other carnival ships we have sailed on in the past. The Pride is dark woods, chandeliers, and pure elegance. We had several favorites things we liked on the ship; Serenity Bar/ Pool area, Guys Burgers, Blue Iguana Cantina, The Ivory Piano Bar and The Alchemy Bar to just name a few. The mixologists from The Alchemy were great. They knew our names and what we wanted to drink the 2nd time we went there. My husband and I attended a Mixology Class one afternoon and not only was it fun but it was very interesting as well. Miro and Lydia at the Alchemy are the best bar tenders that I have ever seen. Found a new favorite drink also (Classic Manhattan). We had a balcony room portside which was nice. Our room steward,Dwi, and his helper were very good and took great care of us all week. They cleaned up our room in the morning and then also did our turn down every evening. If you would like robes ask your steward and he will get them for you. All the pools on the ship are really pretty. We liked the Serenity pool the best as it is Adult only and much quieter than the other pools. The ports we visited were Gran Turks, Half Moon Cay, and Freeport Bahamas. We snorkled at Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay. Both ports were beautiful and looking forward to going again. We had been to Freeport years ago so knew what to expect there. Did all our souvenir shopping and was surprised to hear the song Take Me Home Country Roads (we're from WV) being played by a band out in the common area where all the shopping was. We had a very memorable trip and looking forward to going again next year.

Awesome family trip by Steelerfanllp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My favorite part was getting to do the trip with my family. The staff we had was great. They knew all of our names from day one. Room cleaners were excellent. Our dining room staff: Mladen, Robert and Wilson were totally awesome. Also knew all of our names after the first day and had our drinks on the table after the first couple of days. Super friendly and very entertaining. All around awesome cruise!

May 7, 2017 Carnival Pride 7 day cruise refiew by cwebb6463

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

HappyI loved my 2nd cruise on the Carnival Pride with Douglas Simpson.   This was my first trip to Half Moon Cay and it is now my favorite port and beach.  The service on the Pride was superb and so was our cabin attendant Victoria.   She went over and beyond service for us and our room.

I do have to mention my concern and annoyance with the amount of smokers and smoking allowed in the casino.  I've enjoyed playing more in the casino and would spend even more in there if there was no smoking.   I became very congested from the second hand smoke in the casino.  The other smoking areas were well away from the activities and not an issue.   I would enjoy the cruise more if there was a room only for smokers or even a bar for smoking that wasn't part of the casino.  I'm sure that less than ten percent of passengers even smoke anymore.  Can this issue be addressed?

Carnival Pride 5-7/5-14/2017 by waller28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

First off the ship was beautiful. The room was exceptionally clean and taken care of. We loved the balcony room.  The house keeper, Victoria was absolutely amazing and so attentive and kind. She made the experience wonderful.  We also really enjoyed I Putu in the Normande dining room. He treated my family well and joked around making us feel comfortable. The dancing the wait staff did was also amazingly entertaining.  My only complaints are too much time cruising to Grand Turk. That was my fault for not realizing 2 and 1/2 days was a long time to sail. I didn't feel there were enough activities on the boat. We got bored a lot.  I didn't like that the buffets closed during the day and I didn't like the going to the bar for my soda, I got the endless bubbles package and it took forever to get a soda.  My other request is longer times on shore.  But I think you can look for cruises that offer longer shore stays.  So next time I'll look for that. The staff was exceptional.  I would add more activities/shows to cure boredom on multiple cruising days.  And revamp the endless bubbles program. Going to the bar is ridiculous.   Maybe staff could get the drinks for you? That would even be better.  Also buffets should be open throughout lunch time hours so their are more choices.  Thanks!!!! Happy

Choose Your Cruise Wisely by Tootser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

First time on Carnival Pride.  Ship is dark and not what you would expect for a Caribbean vacation. Rooms were nice.  Had a balcony which was a great amenity.  Always hot water in the roomy bathroom. Staff was great. Food was good, although breakfast became monotonous. Never changed. It was hard to get a seat in the adult pool area. Folks would put their towel on a chair at 7 am and keep it there all day, even if they weren't in the pool.  Drinks were expensive and mediocre. You would think you would get a piece of pineapple, or some kind of fruit, in a $10 tropical drink, but you did not.  The casino does not have a "no smoking" section so if you are not a smoker, it's not fun.  I don't think they should make it non smoking, but have two separate areas would be nice. This is why I say "choose your cruise wisely"....  First stop was Grand Turk - it was TOTALLY AWESOME.  But we were only there for a few hours.  I believe we got in at 7 am and had to get back on the boat by 1 pm.  7 am??? for a beach stop????  All that time on the ship and only a few hours in this beautiful port. Makes me want to go back there on my own.  2nd stop was Half Moon Cay - another absolutely beautiful place to be - but again....way too short and started very early.  Not exactly the perfect beach time. Back on the boat in no time.  3rd stop was Freeport, Bahamas.  What a joke! I can't believe they would even consider this a vacation port.  It was like a maintenance stop for the boat and NOTHING for the vacationers.  They used the port to refuel, get maintenance done, wash decks and windows, do an emergency drill for the crew, etc. It was awful! And I'm not exaggerating. To include that as a destination port is quite the joke. There wasn't enough time to actually do a real excursion and see the island.  The people who did that I spoke with said it was a huge rip off.  Did I have a lousy time - no.... I made the most of it.  But I was hugely disappointed in the fact that the two magnificent stops - Grand Turks and Half Moon Cay - were not nearly long enough to make up for the 3rd pathetic stop at Freeport.  Choose your cruise wisely.  Make sure you are in port long enough to enjoy the cruise. And steer away from Freeport.  Docking in your port at 7 am is not ideal - especially when you are on vacation.  Last thing you want to do is wake up at 5 am and battle everyone for breakfast and hit the beach at 7 am!!!  I don't think I would do a Carnival Cruise or this itinerary again.  But I would cruise again!

Just finished my 3rd cruise on the Pride and I absolutely love this ship! The crew is always so friendly and helpful. This ship is on the smaller size which makes it easy to get around and has a very homey feel. Can't wait until the next cruise!

We had an incredible inaugural cruise on Carnival Pride! Definitely more cruises in our future! Food was fantastic; though, preferred the Lido deck buffet better than the dining room. Food was better and little to no wait! Great crew and very accommodating!

Awesome Beaches by LadyWithHeart2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I always enjoy sailing on the Carnival Pride. I have sailed on it at least four times. I find the wait staff to be very attentive and friendly. The ships public restrooms are always clean and well stocked. My cabin was always clean without intrusion of my privacy. I enjoyed eating on the Lido Deck as much as I enjoyed the MDR. I didn't do a Davids Steakhouse the last trip but will in January. Guys Burgers and the blue Iguana are both great. I love the Carnival Pride and will look forward to being back in January!

Tropical spring break! by varshakb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a great time on Carnival Pride for 7-day Bahama trip. Weather, food, excursions were perfect for the cruise. Additionally, kids Camp Carnival activities and water fun activities kept our daughter super excited. She didn't want to leave the cruise ! All employees and managers were courteous and friendly. Employees at Freeport beach getaway managed kids well and so did camp Carnival. We would definitely travel again with Carnival.

1st cruise ever by kozmo2017

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

As this was my first ever cruise I had a pretty good time.  The all inclusive beach excursion for the 3rd port call which was Freeport was excellent.  The beach excursion for the Nassau 2nd port stop not so much (rude lunch staff, cheap quality liquor, recommend getting sodas from the can, etc)

Steakhouse was excellent at a reasonable price, ship staff friendly and nice food good except the burger joint was so so IMO.  great taco bar.  Recommend you get the drink package for the ship to include booze as you drink more than you think.
