Review summary

Very nice ship. Room 7291 had extended balcony as there were 3 of us, however they would only allow 2 chairs out there. Had wet carpet for 3 days which they cleaned and put big fan in our room after they cleaned it. They gave us credit on our shore account for the inconvenience. Generous of them. Service and food were great.  There were times we wanted to be in room but housecleaning wanted to clean 2ce a day. We said we did not want them 2ce a day, but they were adamant. They asked we vacated the balcony one day for cleaning, which we did. But they never cleaned it. We prefer sitting on shaded private balcony then out with so many  other people.

This cruise was mostly elderly people, few kids. Clubs and bars were quiet.  Drinks on the ship are high, the specials are one dollar of a $11.50 drink.  And the mixed drinks are small.  It would be nice if they had a more affordable alcohol program.  There has to be a lot of profit in a drink.  Late night dining is just to late, 8:15.  Early dining and anytime dining were full.  Seems ships are trying to get people to go to specialty restaurants.  Ship is cutting corners, but some of that is ok. No table cloth except for formal nights, staff doesn't put napkin on lap or pull out your chair. I'm ok with that. At buffets staff no longer brings you drinks. It is all self serve. No robes in room unless you request.

Carnival does a nice job. We liked the Pride a lot.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Serving sizes are smaller at main dining which is great. Hate wasting food, and like to try a lot of different things.

We were 3 in room but they would not allow 3 chairs on the balcony. Balcony was dirty. They asked we vacate it one day so they could clean but they never did show up. So we forfeited a balcony day for nothing.

Ship tip

At St Lucia when you get off the ship there are tour people that charge 30 for tour of island. 2 hours at beach with free chair and drink at beach. Hslf of what you pay if you buy thru ship. Very nice tour.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Free trolley system comes every 15 minutes. Nice way to navigate old san juan. Stayed at Verdanza about one block from ocean with vendors right there cooking tacos, kabobs.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Took tour from party outside ship at 25 a person with 2 hours at beach. Safe and affortable

Roseau, Dominica

Ship docks next to ware house where local vendors have similar tables set up. Small local bars have beer 3 for 5 bucks. Nice outdoor spots to enjoy a reasonably priced beer, versus the 7 dollars ship charges

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
Right outside ship was tour buses for 30 a person. If you go inside shop areas tours were 55 a person. Nice your, bus was comfortable and many stops allowed for picture taking and shopping. 2 hours at beach with free chair and rum drink at Pigeon beach Nice beach. Man with boat full of drinks on water with reasonable prices.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Casino bar right off ship has $1. Beer.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Water taxi is 7 per person taking you to beach and shopping , and casinos. Good shopping right at pier.

Baltimore, Maryland Did not visit port

People from Baltimore said it is not a safe city and best bet is to go directly to airport. Nice airport. Getting a taxi from ship was very disorganized, few taxis around. People said that is not normal. We waited 45 minutes for taxi. $30 to airport.

Wow, it surprises me that they don't pull your chair out of put the napkin on your lap. I have been hearing negative reviews about the "American Table" and no tablecloth. I don't think I'll like that.

Great ship enjoy all of it, Great staff if you want something request it they usually accommodate. The cabin Stewart's are great, blankets, pillows, toppers, robes, whatever you need ask, corkscrew for wine, at the buffet just ask the servers if you need drinks they will assist. Enjoy the cruise, we will be back on in July

@mrsD1972.....just go with a positive attitude, don't let the little stuff bother you, remember you are on a vacation that most people only get to dream about, any day on a cruise is better than any day at work lol !!!! Read carnivals FAQ's...lots of good info in there, lots of good forums online too. Doing research ahead of time is always a great idea, about the ship...the ports...excursions...fees... rules and weather. Mostly don't sweat the small stuff, make great memories, and have a great time!!

I'm going on the pride next week. Sounds like a lot of issues on your cruise, but yet you still had positive thoughts. I am super excited. Any tips you could give us to make my first experience a pleasant one ?
