I now know I am getting older, need a ship with less noisy partying. I do miss those days though. by Cruiser828

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is a great ship for the younger crowd. They need to make it a NO SMOKING ship. When you passed that bar, and casino area you had to hold your breath. The entertainment was super, especially the comedy shows. Put you in a great mind-set to hit your pillow at night. There was a great choice of meals and food at all hours of the day and night. My room was perfect and the steward the best I ever had. It was impossible for anyone to get bored, You have so many choices of things to do. Had no problem getting on or off, and totally enjoyed my trip. The trick is to go with different friends all the time so you have different experiences. My motto "Enjoy every day".

Pleasantly Surprised! by pnutkeeper

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had not thought I would take another Carnival Cruise after having not such great experiences on previous ones, but I found myself booking one and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.  The ship was nice & clean, as was the rooms.  I had pleasant interaction with the staff, and the food was good.  My only negative is this is the first cruise I can say there was groups of not so great people.  I heard a big fist fight broke out in the dance club, and various things like that.   But outside of that, I would recommend the boat.

Vacationing in Paradise by Cruiser16303621

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival Paradise is an older, smaller ship but still has the goods to make for an enjoyable vacation. Recommended for newer cruisers that don't want to start at the top. Great dining food, wish they had open sushi buffet. Also would be great if they had smoked salmon at breakfast buffet. Room steward very personable, we chatted every day. We sat at a table for 10, great fun as we lucked out and had wonderful tablemates. Our waitress and assistants were over the top great. They knew all our names and conversed every night. Really enjoyed the Serenity section, aft. The main stage nightly shows were average, as were the comics. All in all we had a wonderful vacation @ Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Good by robinanita7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The shows and the Lido deck food. The customer service was good except the last day at Guest Services. Customer Services Representative Jeremy was very rude when I asked about more representatives should be working because of a long line. He was so rude that the man at the counter checking out, told Jeremy that he was not behaving like a customer service rep should. He had to say it twice. Jeremy did not apologize and the supervisor, Wayne came out and apologized. In other words, nothing was done about his rudeness towards me.

First cruise experience was not a good one by Cruiser34804121

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

There was a fire the first night, evacuated from my room. The air did not work well. Speaker did not work at all. Food was not very good. They switched our port days because of boat issues and could not go max speed. Our times at each port was cut very short. The pool was very small and salty. Bathrooms and elevators would be out of service for periods of time. Very disappointed with the overall experience.

Awful by sfrizzell29

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have never been on such a terrible cruise! The service was horrible. There was an engine fire on the first night that prohibited the engine from running at full capacity. Therefore. They had to switch our ports.  They arrived late to cozomel our excursion was cancelled and we were rushed on the excursion we decided to substitute. We were also 4 hours late docking at Grand cayman and yet again our excursion got cancelled last-minute. We had to wait to get pff the boat while people who did not purchase excursions jad to wait and yet again we were rushed through our excursions we chose to do instead. When I called carnival when we got home they said it wasn't their problem! Terrible customer service. I never again will cruise carnival

Favorite part of the cruise was everything. I enjoyed the boat ride and the food was great in the buffet area every night. Nothing needs to be improved because I enjoyed my first cruise this year. Very excited to book my next cruise for next year.

Happy time at Carnival Raradise Cruise by longfeihu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time at the cruise. The room services are very professional. They cleaned the room twice a day and made a very cute animal using the towel every night. My son loved to play ping-pong there to make some new friends, although it would be great if the cruise can upgrade the ping-pong table set in better quality. We enjoyed the food and the shows during the dinner time at Destiny Dinning Room. The most sweetest thing was the great customer service. When I told Joseph about my 30th anniversary, he congratulated me and arranged to deliver a  bottle of champagne and a tray of fruit and a nice card to my room. We love the experience at the Carnival Paradise. And thanks for all the great memories!Happy

Had some issues by kiddwonder

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The overall cruise experience was a bit lacking compared to my expectations.  We went on the cruise to celebrate my girlfriends birthday.  The cabin was old and dated in need of renovation.  The cabin was extremely noisy due to machinery and maintenance limiting out ability to sleep at night.  I ordered the Birthday package which arrived a day late.  We also didn't care for being treated like cattle during the muster drill in the rain or re-boarding the ship at the ports of call.  The food was inconsistent in terms of quality from day to day.  We found the on-board activities lack interest during our two days at sea.

Rough Seas but Amenities Adequate by leah76moss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Staff were mostly friendly and fun, but some very poor service will stand out above the 80% good. Food was ample; occasionally surprisingly delicious but at other times could be very average. Some slippery floors not posted on the boat from time to time, but the older ship is well maintained. We detoured around a hurricane and felt very rough seas for a day, took longer than planned to get to a shore stop and was disappointed with short shore time in Cayman Islands. Stateroom was not airconditioned, I recommend taking a fan. The "free" drinks programs - buyer beware that if in US waters sales tax applies to drinks, so they're not free after all!  The photographs taken and produced on board were quite nice, but they start at $22 for one print - and at 4 a day taken for 5 days I could have just cruised again for the cost of the memories captured - no discounts or packages available. Dinner service was too structured and not family friendly, and takes a long time to complete as your entire table moves through courses at the same speed. The "24" hour pizza bar was wonderful, but found it to be unstaffed for 2-6 hours a day. Pools were tiny; and crammed full and weren't in operation at non peak times. It took getting splashed in the eyes with the salt water by unsupervised children and unruly adults 8 times in 15 minutes before I didn't return.

Family vacation by jbell28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

The staff are what make this an amazing cruise!Happy

The bingo coverall should not have a limit of numbers....

The kids were not thrilled with the activities that should be improved.

My son did like the video game time.

Valarie the comic was soo funny the other guy was too.

With the storm Earl the Sea's were rocky on night.  The Captain changed course to Cozumel first we still did the same shore excursion but did not do the same one we booked in Grand Cayman so a little disappointed thought we should have been compensated.

Wish they would have explained what there was to do on the boat. by jfrazier465

We figured out finally what time the shows were and other activities. Wish I would have known a headed of time. The wait staff and bartenders were amazing.  We meet a lot of nice people on the boat also.

Celebration dud by wmnosker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have been on several cruises with different companies, this was the worst.  The ship needs to be put out of service or made into a couples only retreat.  There was very little to do except drink.  You couldn't even get in the very small pool --they only had one for the adults and that had the slide so the many, many kids used that one along with the pool reserved for them.  The shows were very basic with very thought put into them.  To be fair the ship is so small that there is no room for more entertainment or amenities.  However, there was no excuse for the food.  The Lido deck buffet was an embarrassment.  The food in the dining hall was better but not much.  It was a disappointing cruise.  The one good thing was the people who served us and waited on us.  Very, very wonderful people.

Not a KIDS friendly Ship by hl305

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I contacted several times before booking the cruise, I stated that I need kids friendly ship everytime and I also stated that I like to visit Kennedy Space Center before the cruise.

Overall cruise was fine, it was a party ship not a kids/family oriented ship, did not meet our needs, plus Kennedy Space Center was two hours drive from Tampa, agent should have recommended another ship from Port Canaveral

Kids were not happy, therefore overall experience was very poor

Very friendly and helpful staff by lwestbuckhorn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Staff A plus all the way. I really did not like the "tender" boat ride to the Cayman. took way too long. Food was ok, service has the best. The pizza area really needs improvment. The only pizza available was chesse, if you wanted another type you had to wait 15mins and the half the time you still didn't get what you wanted. "one person working that station"Crying

Awesome vacation aboard the Carnival Paradise by pwoman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my first cruise ever and I'm ready for my next cruise.  My stateroom service (Ketut), waiter in the dining room (Alfredo) and my go to server (Hong) were just awesome.  I couldn't have asked for a better crew.  Their service was exceptional.  Kudos to them all.  They work really hard to make sure our stay was the best.  Happy

Small ship by Esperanca

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I accomplished my goal: to rest. I did rest, but my poor kids had nothing to do. The pool is super small and all the adults/ drunk is we're siting on the side of the pool smoking and drinking all day and no kids could come in. The other little area with 2 small little jacuzzis were for adults only. 2 ping pong tables always very crowed and no balls to play. The little golf had lines for the whole day and no clubs nor balls to play. So...... They rest with me. Anyway, yes I did rest in my room, because the smokers are allowed to smoke in ANY open area, therefore..... My room was the best part of the ship.

Cozumel was great. We did the paddle board and snorkel. First we booked the turtles excursion and guess what! It was in land. A volunteer work learning about turtles and walking in the heat!!!!! Hahaha.... So we switched to paddle board with snorkel and it was worth it. It is nothing what they said was going to be. A lot simpler and short, but my kids had a lot of fun! And the guides were amazingly nice.True advice? Do not go on cruises leaving from Tampa. The ships are small because they need to fit under the skyway bridge. Depart from cape canaveral.  A lot better. I did not know that, and now you do too! Enjoy!!!!!!
