A Great Value by KarenS24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was nicely laid out. Different pool areas midship gave a more initimate feeling rather than one loud open area. Some lounges were available in the different areas (better than on other ships.) The overall appearance of the ship was impressive although sometimes a little too busy - the wood moulding was classy but the constant urns were not. Ceilings were sometimes busy in "legends" themes including chandeliers resembling Medusa's hair. I was not thrilled about the shows; in the 8 nights, I really enjoyed only 2 shows. While the entertainment staff was just that (entertaining), 2 of the shows were passenger-talent shows, and 1 was a one-man show by one of the usual entertainers. Three of the shows also catered to a specific genre (country, jazz and Frank Sinatra/Sammy Davis Jr). The shows were not of the same caliber as other cruise shows. The decor of the dining room was appealing, although the food was not always. The presentation of all the dishes was great, but the meat was sometimes a little too tough and some of the dishes weren't that tasty. On the Lido Deck, the buffets were plentiful (many choices) and delicious. Usually the Lido staff was constant in cleaning tables. However there were a few times when unoccupied tables around us stayed full with dirty dishes as we ate an entire meal. We were extremely lucky to have a suite with a balcony and found the cabin and bathroom space plentiful for our family of four. The cabin steward never introduced herself but was always pleasant in passing and kept the room spotless. We had been to the ports before and took this ship for relaxation which it certainly turned out to be. I would recommend it based on value, but not as impressive for an experiened cruiser.

Very nice ship by NancyD18

Buffet was good. The open ice tea and punch and lemonade were very nice touch. Dinner in dining room was great. Ship was taken care of, no messes left around until the last day at sea. Garbage in the elevators and on the decks and in the corridors of the stateroom hallways. Lots of children running all around the ship with out adult supervision. Did not expect so many children to be unattended. Crew did a good job despite this drawback.

Fabulous experience by JuneG3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was beautiful. It took a few days to become acquainted the many areas on the ship. I was upgraded to an outside stateroom with a balcony. That was fabulous. The entertainment was par excellence. The costumes, singing, dancing and set changes were excellent. Hats off to the show hosts. They were warm, friendly and so full of energy that one could not help but enjoy onself. The staff in general was very personable and any questions or problems were handled efficiently and quickly. I will definitely sail again on carnival. It is truly the "fun ship". I had a wonderul time. The food was delicious, well prepared and fabulously presented. If the menu in the dining room did not have anything u liked, the wait staff would have something else prepared for you. That's customer service!!!

A nice ship by JamieM2

The ship was pretty. They staff was wonderful. You can feel the movement of the water beneath you, so you might want to take precautions if you have trouble with seasickness.

The ship was amazing. Even though there were over 1,000 passengers my wife and I felt like we were the only ones. The service and crew were amazing.

A Great Time by DonnaR12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

The Legend is a beautiful vessel! On the whole, it is kept immaculate. The staff is very friendly, however, there are not enough to keep up with the demands of the breakfast and lunch rooms during peek hours. There also seemed to be less than needed cocktail hostesses during shows. However, there were plenty on deck during sailing hours. The cabin steward was very good and tended to basic needs well. My 11 year old son attended 3 events at Club Carnival that were marked for 6-11 year olds. He wasn't happy with the counselors who kept telling then that they were spoiling the time of the 6 year olds. I think they need to separate the groups further into 6-8 year olds and 9-11 year olds. The counselors spoiled those times for my son. The restaurant food was good, but we opted for the buffet style food 5 out of 8 nights. There was an abundance of fish served in the main dining room (not our preference) and we were having too much of a relaxing time on deck to go get properly dressed for the dining room. Evening entertainment went from fabulous some nights (Broadway style shows) to not so good (comedian and musician). Two nights of entertainment was from passengers, so that was quite interesting. All in all, the cruise was a good one, but the ports of call were by far the highlights.

The Most Fun Ever by FlorenceL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have cruised on other lines before and we really weren't sure what to expect from Carnival. We were not disappointed. The lay out of the ship was such that no one area was ever crowded at any time, except by the pool. The food in the Unicorn Cafe was very delicious and a wide variety of food types were always available. We loved eating in the dining room. Our wait staff was superior. The dishes never stayed on the table for long - they were extremely efficient. I loved that the wait staff would perform for us every night. The Carnival ships really are the fun ships. Our waitress got so attached to us, that she actually wept on our last night together. There was only one bad experience for us and that occurred on the evening of the Carnival Legends shows. An elderly man thought that we were saving seats and began shouting at us and calling us rude. The truth was that a woman had taken her elderly mother to the ladies room just before the show started and it took her a long time to get back to her seat. The man eventually took the seat next to me and was very embarrassed when the two women returned. If security had been present, we could have been saved the argument. I wouldn't let this experience stop me from cruising with Carnival again. It could have happened anywhere. The man spoke broken English and obviously didn't understand what we were trying to explain to him.

Treated like Royality by DebbieO4

The ship was beautiful, the staff were friendly and made sure you were taken care of. Food was abundant and they made the best cheeseburgers we've ever had! The captain always advised us ahead of time of passing showers, so we were prepared to "move" quickly from the sun decks. The shows were first-class and thoroughly enjoyable, except for the show that featured a "one man band." We would definitely travel on the Carnival Legend again.

Awesome time! by FlorenceL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our teenaged daughters enjoyed making new friends and hanging out together. We felt comfortable knowing that security was visible on the ship and that they would be safe. We have cruised on other lines before and this was the first time that we had a deck party. On our last cruised we were in dock next to a Carnival ship while they were having a deck party and we were so jealous. It sounded like everyone was having so much fun. Well, I can attest to the fact that everyone had a lot of fun. My daughter and I enjoyed the low fat choices at lunch and dinner. And enjoyed the sugar free desserts every night at dinner. The food was so good, I never had a meal I didn't enjoy. The entertainment was very good, we really enjoyed going to the shows. My husband and I enjoyed dancing in Sachmos lounge every evening. The trio that performed there was fantastic. This was the best part of the cruise for us. We also really loved picking up the ship in New York. It was so convenient and really a money saver. I was also afraid that the Atlantic Ocean might have been a little rough, but it was actually the smoothest part of our trip. Once we got to Florida the winds got stronger and we felt the motion a little bit more, but it still wasn't bad. The nice thing about being on the Atlantic was that it was a little cooler on deck. And since we couldn't get a seat near the pool it was quite comfortable with the cool breeze. Our first priority for our cruise was to relax and get away from our hectic lives. Thanks to Carnival we were able to do just that. A good time was had by all.

An enjoyable cruise by LizF1

The staterooms were great. Much better than expected. I was on the 7th floor in a balcony room. The common areas of the ship were pretty much as expected--a little overdone and gaudy. The dining room decor looked like a badly done christmas tree.

Very pleased with the ship. Not sure about the urn theme, but once we got past that, we thought it was great, especially the pretty glass elevator.
