My expectations were low since my main reason for going was to see Alaska, but everything about the cruise was even worse than I expected. Food-atrocious, activities-poor and sparse. They seem to have no idea that it is cold and rainy in Alaska and therefore nobody will be using the outdoor pools, outdoor bars, outdoor waterslide, and outdoor sunning chairs. They need more indoor activities and they were few and far between.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Long and tedious embarkation. Things that were taken care of booking the cruise had to be redone at the counter then redone later at guest services. Basically spent the whole 1st day standing on lines
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
With the exception of one meal which was superbly prepared and served, the rest ranged from mediocre to inedible. First nights meal was so bad, they remade it. Was worse the second time and completely inedible. I didn't eat that night. Don't even try to have a late lunch because they close the buffet lines from 2:30 to 4:30, once while I was standing on line. I didn't eat that afternoon either. The unlimited drink package, "Cheers", is not unlimited. 15 drinks is the maximum and no amount of bribery will get you another. The liquor is top shelf.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Too cold to use the unheated pools, it is Alaska and to be expected. During in port days there are many shipboard activities while at sea days there is virtually none. What little was offered was jammed packed because of the lack of activities. Trivia seemed to be the major source of entertainment.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Comedy club was good. One comics ad lib part of the show was better than the scripted act. Musicians were fair, the band in the Red Frog lounge being the best and they were missing their bassist. The piano bar was especially good.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
All service personnel were cheery and eager-to-please with their competence ranging from non-helpful from me not understanding a word of Thai, to impeccably trained and attentive. They were so cheery in fact that spontaneous disco dancing complete with flashing strobe lights and ear shattering music would break out in the dining room lending an air of anxiety and tension to compliment a relaxing dinner.

Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
My cabin was bigger than I expected. It was clean and in good order, but the latches for the balcony door were not properly secured, one was broken, and during rough weather banged from side to side all night until I could get someone to secure the latches properly.
Ship tip
I will use Lee, the cruise directors words during the disembarkation briefing to sum-up the cruise. "When you get our survey in the mail and if you enjoyed the cruise, please rate us a ten on a scale of one to ten. If you didn't enjoy the cruise, give us a ten anyway since you probably won't be coming back." As he suggests, I'm not going back.
Too little time, too dark. The only reason the ship stops in Victoria, Canada is because vessels whose keel was not laid (built) in the United States may not make U.S.port to U.S. port stops. They must stop at a foreign port before comming back to a U.S. port.
Honestly you sound like the kind of person I'd rather not cruise with, thst being a person who will whinge and moan about everything. As others have said it's Alaska so it's going to be cold, you would have to be a total moron to not reliable this.
Maybe next time just don't bother cruising. I've cruised before with people who have a similar attitude to yours and all you do is ruin others fun.
Reading your review it's a bit clear you hated every single bit of your cruise and complained about everything including all the little things.
Next time don't bother cruising, all a miserable whinger like you does is spoil everyone's good time
These people complaining about Alaskan weather is the reason why there is directions on shampoo bottle. No common sense or cannot read a book or watch TV or find any information about it.
My hubby and I went in April and we still had snow it was freezing and one of the best cruises we have been on the ports were amazing did not go to do water slides !! And fancy Alaska being cold ... wow 😳 we head to the Caribbean when we want sun and Alaska for the beautiful ports ... we have 40 days until we leave Australia to return to the Caribbean for the sun ☀️.. then Alaska next May for the snow and cold weather it seems like you went with a bad attitude... so that's what you got ... what a waste of money you should of stayed home!!!!!!!!!🍹😎
Yes it rains and is colder than you are used to but thats why its so green and beautiful... I admit I live in Seattle so I am used to that type of weather... I would expect it to be cold in Alaska...
U said your expectations were low to begin with so you got what you expected and should have been happy. Was wet and cold when I went and had a great time. Cruise ships don't control the whether. To really see Alaska you don't cruise, you fly in or take a cruise further north and take a land trip then you see the real Alaska
