unhappy cruiser by james7097

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Let me begin by saying I thought the bad experience we had on the destiny was bad but the glory beat it. I understand why you can't smoke in state rooms and I will abide by the rules of smoking. But had we known you could not smoke on the lido deck we would't have booked this cruise. It is your job to inform people of the dos and dont's of the cruise. The area where we could smoke had 16 chairs and around 3 to 4 ashtrays and there were several hundred people smoking. In order to get coffee you had to you go lido get coffee walk up stairs or elevator and maybe if you were lucky you could set down or most of the time there was no place to set. Bar service passed u by if you were in the smoking area and in order to get a drink you had to go to bar my husband set aside money to drink but refused cause of the way  we were treated as smokers. It was like discremination to smokers people would empty ashtrays on the floor or into glasses cause the smoking area would be nasty and dirty I even saw cigarettes in the drain area which I thought it was wrong but when you don't get ashtrays emptied then thats what they did. Room service was a joke I ordered room service at 10pm and they woke me up at 1am knocking on my door to bring it I ordered another night it never came and tried one more time an after 3 hours I cancelled it. We tried to get off at there private island and by the time we got down to get on a tender we set there over an hour and we finally just stayed on the ship. ENTERTAINMENT there was none I do not care about comedy club cause I don't like nasty jokes one night was about Milton Bradley games I had those games when I was a child at the age I am now do not classify that as entertainment. dining room staff was good but the person over the dining room was more worried about his staff dancing an singing rather than making sure we as guest were served food. we went to dinner at 6 and didn't leave til after 8pm. The last day we were waiting to get off of ship we looked under the bed to make sure nothing was under there and found a  NASTY CONDOM

If I had found this sooner I would have had  a different room never in my 7 cruises has this happened and that makes me wonder how well the rooms are getting cleaned. I will be letting friends and family know about this and I know a lot of people that are getting ready to book a cruise. You should be like hotels and offer smoking you say you don't want smoking around kids but I would rather my kids be around smoke in open air than around alcohol and drunks who are loud and cursing. So in all I love cruising more than life itself but because of the bad experiences i will probably never get my husband to book another cruise. signed VERY UNHAPPY SAILOR

Glory be....it was fun! by gramjsb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

All in all, this was a good experience.  The ports were wonderful, but lacking information for handicapped access.  Our cabin was clean and well tended, and the food was enjoyable, with good variety.  We notice the lack of live entertainment compared to other cruises.  Dr. E was the best, and made the cruisers feel so welcome.

pleasantly surprised! by treehouse4us

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had been on this ship a few years back and noted the food was not quite as good as other CARNIVAL ships  that we had been on. What a pleasant surprise  to find how this experience had changed with the new implementation of THE AMERICAN TABLE and Guys Burgers. The quality of the food was quite good and the port of ROATAN was beautiful (and easy on the budget). The couple dining beside us had never been on a Carnival cruise before (over 700 days on Holland) so we educated them on the various offerings (Punchliners Comedy CLUB etc.) which have also improved  over the past few years. We really enjoyed the ports we visited and that our stateroom was  signicantly larger than others that we have had in the past.

Great cruise for the money by Ryujinflame

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My partner and I were largely taking the cruise for the sake of going onshore to a couple of locations in Mexico and the Caribbean, but the cruise line itself did a very good job of accomodating its passengers and our cruise director (Dr.E) brought energy every morning and evening with a call over the intercom (for better or worse, but we enjoyed the enthusiasm he brought to the experience). The cruise was particularly good at taking care of meal needs, from buffets to sit-down dinners and 24-hour emergency pizza options. Some pool and hot tub areas can get crowded, but if you're at least 21, the upstairs Serenity area offered a relatively comfortable area to relax without huge crowds. There was one occasion where we found ourselves short on seasickness supplies and tried to consult guest services, but they were somewhat low on medicine, so you might want to ensure you have a good supply of general medicine in case. Other than that, great experience and at $620 (after taxes and charges) for a first-floor sea room and window, not a bad deal for a week and sea experiences.

Carnival Glory Cruise - Fantastic Service, Fantastic Food, Professional Staff ! by conwayretired

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Everything about our cruise on Carnival Glory was outstanding. We have cruised on 5 other cuise lines but none matched the Carnival Glory.

Worth a separate note was the dining room staff.  Our Dining Room Team was headed by Wijaya, with Ronald, and two other gentlemen.  They took exceptional care of us throughout the cruise and were instrumental in making our cruise so enjoyable.

Overall, the food was exceptional - especially the Dining Room Food.

There was more to do then we could plan to do and animinaties we both enjoy. Also great land ecursions to join in.

to suggest a line to someone asking for their first time, i would definitly advise Carnival. thank you for a absulute wonderful time.

Overall very enjoyable cruise by trueone56

I'm a frequent cruiser, so I sort of know what to expect. Ports of call were breathtaking, speaking of Puerto Rico and St. Thomas.. Take the historical tours for these two. Food was very good. Entertainment was hot. hot, hot.  Big ups to Mary Ann. Amazing voice. She had Whitney Houston down pat. Cruise director, doctor E. was hilarious. He brought the energy. I could probably nitpick, but everybody likes what they like, given their situation. I would recommend this ship & cruise. As a matter of fact, I'd take this one again.

The staff was fantastic, so kind, helpful, and welcoming. We had a great time enjoying the deck on our at sea days. And the process at each port went very smoothly for excursions. Wonderful experience for my first cruise.

Very nice ship! Excellent food. Nice cabins. Entertainment better than most. by cindypalazzola

So good to have Adult only areas. Easy to get on and off ship when in ports.  Easy to get around.  Great to have "anytime dining"!  This was the first time I was on a Carnival ship and I was impressed.  However, it was Spring Break and there were lots of families and children, which was why I was glad to have Adult Only areas.  It was also a diverse group of class of people.  (I had a wonderful experience on the Dawn Princess & Celebrity Summit, which were mostly adults and a nice class of people.) Dinner menus changed each night.  I would recommend this ship.  The Western Caribbean is not as pretty as the Eastern though.  My favorite stops were Cozumel and Mohogany Bay Roatan.  Belize is yucky and needs to have a port instead of having to tender over.  Go visit Caye Caulker if you want to see something pretty.  However, the water taxi is an hour ride from Belize.  Do not buy a round trip ticket. Belize Water Taxi Terminal did not tell us that the taxi coming back would not get back to port to get our ship's tender in time.  There was 2 hr time difference from ship time and Belize time.  Bummer.  Time in this port was not long enough.  However, I don't know who in their right mind would vist the city.  Most people went on excursions out in the water.

Winter Getaway by imdwr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Having been on 50+ cruises over the past 40 years, the cruise we just completed on the Glory rated good enough that we would do it again.  However, the anytime dining service was somewhat slower than anticipated, but the food that was available was excellent and very well presented.  The selections were not as extensive as Princess or Holland America, but was very tasty and we had no complaints regarding quality, etc.  Cabin was always taken care of in a timely manner.  However, even though we traveled in a suite, there were absolutely NO amenities in the bathroom except a small tube of toothpaste!   This is no comparison to the other suites we have traveled in.  When we inquired about this with the cabin steward, we were told we could buy whatever we needed in the gift shop.  Also, tips were suggested for room service delivery, even though the cruise line was already deducting quite a large amount for tips for the waiters.  It seemed like this cruise was "nickle and dimeing" for services that we had not noticed on the other cruise lines.

The most outrageous event was the Captain's night, which took place in the casino.  We traditionally have been introduced to the captain at a party in one of the entertainment rooms, with cocktails and hors d'oeuvers.  On this evening, the Captain and the ships officers were lined up at the bar, and were pimping drinks at a $1 discount.  How embarassing for these men who have worked hard to gain a position, only to be lined up like a rogues gallery with people wandering around them, not knowing what was really going on.   Doesn't Carnivale have a hostess, or someone who could have orgainized the event so the the passengers could be introducted properly, rather than than just wandering around trying to figure out who was who.  I don't think the evening was a financial success, as I didn't notice a rush to the bar for the $1 off drinks.

A Fine Experience by barbbabe50

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

For a quick hop on cruise for seven days it was a fine experince. The room was nice with a balcony and our steward was fabulous..The food was okay.example:cherry pie was geletin with cherries. And i did not care for breakfast and lunch as a buffet. To many people waiting in line..I did like that they had separate stations for sandwiches and pizza and eggs/omletes.The ship was very clean and friendly.

Carnival glory by Akagen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very clean, pretty ship, attentive waitstaff, great variety of food choices. There is never enough time to see everything at each port of call but we had lots of fun and were able to include or rule out places that we would return to see.

Great smooth sailing and itinerary, but the onboard entertainment was rather lame. Food and crew were great. Cabins were very small, but well appointed. Very clean ship. I would go again on a different itinerary.

Great Cruise! by emilia1992

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was an amazing cruise! The cruise directore was very enetertaining and the food at the buffet and the restoraunts were delicious. The dessert was to die for and the comedy shows were hilarious. The stops were all very beautiful. On boat days there was a lot to do on the ship whether you are an indoor person or an outdoor person. Lots of place to tan and the pools were very nice. The adult section was very calm. The gym and spa facilities were also very nice. Everything was very clean. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Fun cruise! by soufou

Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Enjoyed a repeat cruise on the the Glory. Loved the Guy Fieri burgers and taco stand on pool deck, as well as the revised dining room menu allowing you to pick your sides and customize your meal. Comedy Stop was fun, live band in smoky casino, not so much.

Amazing experience by RachelChristie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My boyfriend and I stayed on the carnival glory from Feb 16 - Feb 23. It was very fun! My waiters were the best you could ask for! We had Suka, Arnold and Manolito. These 3 men made it hard to leave the ship. They were constantly doing anything they could to make our experience amazing and they really went above and beyond. Actually the entire staff went above and beyond. The only negative thing I have to say is I ordered breakfast to my stateroom one morning and it never showed up. But over it was absolutely amazing and I would recommend this cruise to anyone and everyone!

Not up to expectations by aFloridaCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

If you desire to drink, gamble and party only, this is the cruise for you. Many clubs and bars on board. Little else. The shows were pathetic as were the attitudes of some of the staff. The food was mundane and not artistic (same menu everyday for breakfast and a few different choices for dinner). One morning we decided to go to the Lido Deck for breakfast instead of the dining room. My husband waited a long time in line for an omelet. He then was given 3 strips of bacon. When he asked for a few more strips he was told to "eat that and come back". Unbelievable! Movies (lg screen) by the family pool were not appropriate for children. Language, suggestive, adult content. We will not cruise again on a Carnival. There are So...many quality Lines out there to choose from.”stomer
