First cruise with teenagers by derekschansberg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We decided to take a family cruise with our teenage children.  Carnival offered the best sailing date option to islands we hadn't been to before.  Preface this review by stating that this is our 2nd Carnival cruise and 4th overall in the Caribbean.  This was our least favorite so far.

The overall appearance/impression of the ship was not what we expected.  There were doors that didn't work, stains in the carpet , parts that needed painting and touch up, uneven floors and the ship just seemed old and weary.  The cruise director, although informative and social, was not what I was expecting.  He was over the top and would have preferred hanging out on the Lido deck drinking with the passengers over getting people involved and interacting.  The tender process was also a joke as no one checked anybody's number.  After getting a low number still ended up waiting for an exceptionally long time to get off the boat.   Not what I was expecting after cruising with Carnival previously.

The trip itself was a success and the islands we visited (Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize and Cozumel) were fun and enjoyable.  We only went on one Carnival excursion, to the Mayan ruins on Belize, and it was education and interesting although a very long bus ride there and back.  The scenery out the window was both beautiful and disturbing.  The other stops we did self guided tours or hired local taxi's for the day.  Roatan and Grand Cayman had the best beaches while Cozumel had the best shopping.

We had two days at sea and while they were sunny and relaxing there weren't a lot of options for on board entertainment.  The daytime entertainment (bands or skits on the Lido deck) were entertaining but other than that not a lot of options.  No great evening shows, although the comedian were funny and entertaining.

We will definitely go cruising again but I am leaning towards either another river cruise in Europe or a different cruise line.  Was not overly impressed.

My first cruise by evelinesmth3510

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I paid for Wi-Fi that did not work,

they took to long to fix the toilet,

they were painting the out side of the ship while we were in port.

before I sail on the Glory again it will have to have a lot of work done on it.

Warm weather away from Michigan by Cruiser768

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Carnival Cruise line as always tries to do a really good job of making our vacation a pleasant and relaxing time. The weather was great..even though it rained the first few days...I walked a mile on Grand Cayman beach in the rain and it was awesome...walking in the rain in Michigan any time of the year and I'd be shivering in 5 minutes.

The Fish & Chips was a daily favorite (the soup is awesome). I missed the stir fry and sushi that the Breeze has. Otherwise the food was more than enough in every way.

Of course the cabin stewards were great and kept the room spic & span. There was some banging with a hammer going on at 2:30 in the morning that kept us awake one night and the guest services manager went waaaaaaaay out of her way to make up for the disturbance.

Mike at the piano bar was really good...he was a little out of the box which of course made it all the better.

The shows were great light shows but the content needed something the middle aged crowd could really relate to.

Mike, the cruise director, was a very amiable guy and very funny...he did a great job with the "love and marriage" show. We'll see him on the Breeze next month...said he was moving to the Breeze..can't wait.

Overall cruise including ports of call, activities and hospitality good. Food was horrible. Grand Turk excursions and port is not worth visiting. All excursions in Grand Turk end up at the same reef and therefore have too many people in water at the same time for an enjoyable time. Grand Turk Port only has shopping.

Best Cruise Experience Yet!! by erogan1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first time crusing with Carnival and I have to admit we are Royal Carribean fans.  The staff was more than welcoming, kind and courteous!  The food was PHENOMINAL.   My husband and I agreed that the only thing we would comment negatively is we wished the weather would have been better :)

Great Job Carnival!!!!  can't wait to cruise with you again!!

Glory by srieben

Overall the cruise was good.  A little disappointed in how early some of the food closed down.  We found out the last night night that they do not enforce the dress code for the dinning room as people were in shirts and tshirts.  If we would have known this we would have eaten there mire often.

despite the clouds had a nice time by kelsey385

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Overall the cruise was very good - that boat was clean and service was excellent.  The only complaint we had was the nightclub for dancing did not open until 11:30p. We enjoy dancing but after a full day of being busy, we could only do it one night.

Carmival Glory Cruise experience by klstorey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was a good cruise.  I love the exclusions.  Our dining staff was great.  Had a few rude staff members on the ship.  The food wasn't as good as my last cruise.  Wish the ship would have been updated.  Friend with me had been on this ship before and said it still had not been updated.

Awesome time in the Carribean by ashx1964

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My daughters and I cruised on the Glory and had a blast. The Eastern Carribean is beautiful. Never a dull moment. The food was good in the main dining room. Our rooms were adequate and the balcony was great. Most all of the staff were attentive and accommodating. I love watching the movies under the stars!Love

Do not go with children under the age of 2! by sarahfeliciano2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was not a vacation for me. The lack of available child care options on Carnival is disgusting. Carnival charges half the price for a child under 2 and there are absolutely no child care options or activities for the child until after 10pm (they call it for the late owls). Sure you can use the play room if you'd like but you have to be there with them.  A whole day with your child, running after them, fighting to get them to sit still for dinner etc...who wants to wait until after 10 to go out?! I would put my son in stroller after dinner (730)and walk around the boat and look for a spot I could sit where it was not too loud  so that I can wait the 2 + hours to bring him up. So of course, I'd give up from boredom and end up in my room. The 2 nights I actually did use the 10pm child care, they threw him in a large room with all these screaming kids. When I came back, my son was up. The fact that they have no quiet room for sleeping kids is appalling. Plus they charge you for care after 10pm. If that is the case then why not give the option to take them for dinner so mommy and daddy can have some alone time? I will NEVER advise anyone to torture themselves with a cruise with small children. CARNIVAL YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR POLICIES!!!! I did not watch one show, did not participate in any activities, could not have a quiet dinner with my husband, I did not have a vacation. With the amount of money we spent on the boat (over $1,500) I should have had the time of my life. Sincerely, a very tired, frustrated mother who needs another vacation.

Plan your own trip by conley10m

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a marvelous trip.  That being said, we did not rely on Carnival to entertain us.  Tried that in the past and believe again would have been disappointed.  Lack of shows, music never at convenient times, requested any time dining, didn't work out, etc...However, if you go with your own agenda, balcony view, own excursions (because Carnival excursion desk was rude), you can have an amazing trip.  We loved our stops.  Research each location first and you'll find many things to do that are not offered trough the ship.

Carnival Glory Sail date 11/21/15 by dawn842

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time! The ship is still in decent shape and the crew was very nice.

The Epic Rock show was awesome!

Our weather was not perfect, but that was no one's fault. ;)

Heard that Carnival or a cruise line is developing an island off of the coast of Belize. That will be wonderful to not have to go into Belize City.

In Roatan, we went to Little French Key which is absolutely awesome! This is our second time there and did not disappoint.

We are going to the Eastern in February and looking forward.

It was an okay Cruise ! by lrforever95

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was a good cruise. The room was okay but had a lot of dust and it made me sick. The room was sometimes too hot but at least it was clean. I did not like Belize too much. I did not like the fact they allow smoking on the ship mostly in the Casino. They should two Casino one the smokers and one for the non- smokers.

Excellent family vacation cruise by Cruiser355

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was an amazing family vacation!!!  The cruise ship was awesome, plenty of entertainment for the whole family and an awesome array of food whenever you were hungry.  So happy with the ship, all of the staff were great, entertainment was a lot of fun for all of us (I have two teenagers, one boy and one girl), and the food was very good!!  I would recommend this cruise for anyone who wants to do some site seeing and water fun; snorkeling, shopping, ruins, beaches, this one has a bit of it all.

Carnival Glory 11/21/15 Western Caribbean cruise by Cruiser442

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cabins 2412, 2416, 2420, 2424 should not be used as they are right below the galley and our sleep was interrupted every night due to the activity above the cabin. The guest services folks were unable to get the noise stopped so our experience to say the least was not very positive.
