Great cruise!! by beachdreamer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Freedom always has great entertainment aboard. We had an ocean suite and we loved it, however the only thing is they should offer a smokers side and a non smokers side. So that non-smokers can enjoy their balcony. We were not able to be outside much- our neighbors were chain smokers and constantly everything smelled like smoke!! The islands were great!!! Tortola by far the most amazing- loved Virgin Gorda- the baths!!!! A must do again!!!

Highly recommend this cruise!!! by cruiseyearly

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great a time!!! Service was excellent, food was great, room service always came on time and the entertainment was awesome too!!! I loved the ports we stopped at. Did the train tour in Key West which my 3yr old loved. Grand Cayman went to Royal Palms on 7 mile beach, it was a little pricey but well worth the $5 for a chair and $5 for an umbrella. Lunch was about 13 for a burger and 12 for a pizza. Ended up going closer to the cruise port and ate at Burger King which was just as good as the States. I didn't like Jamaica, Bobsledding ride and climbing the Dunes River Falls was AWESOME. However they nag you to death to buy something, I just simply said "no, thank you" and walked off.

Honeymooners by FirstTimers513

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our honeymoon. Overall I had a great time. The staff was extremely friendly, the ship was maintained perfectly, and the food was good. My chief complaint is that while we were out for the day our laptop was broken by housekeeping with a large cracked screen. We filed a report with guest services but since no one came forward and admitted it,they said they couldn't do anything.Very disappointing.

Survey by DiannaYvonne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall Carnival Freedom staff was a good experience. What needs improvement subcontractor that you have when we get off shore for entertainment. If you se up a time schedule we shouldn't have to wait for other people that are running late. We waited 45 min's because we had a group of young kids. The young group was 45 minutes late so this caused us to delay 45 minutes of site seeing we could have saw. The tickets stated on there to be on the shore a half hour before scheduled time. We losted a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes.I work very hard for my money and it would have been cheaper if I would have just went with the people that stand of the shore waiting for our business!

First time cruiser by Ennsfamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean

As a first time cruiser I cant say I came away an excitement and desire to cruise again any time soon. The experience dealing with Carnival up to the point of sailing was difficult, a live and learn lesson for sure! Certain booking names like Early Saver & Easy Saver really make a huge difference in what you end up paying, stuff you don't know as a first time cruiser. It ended up being a very expensive vacation! We had seven travelers in all, we traveled with five young adult children. Can't recommend that this particular ship offered much for that age group. The rooms were adequate and the staff was excellent. If we were to cruise again in the future, we would most likely not cruise Carnival.

Pleasantly surprised by Nonnie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Great ship. Noisy staterooms? Great food. Need more activities for families. I booked six cabins. Two interior cabins and four balconies. Dining experience was great. Not enough swimming pools. Mini golf and other actives ended too soon due to steak house dining room caused early closing every night

comparison to prior cruises by brigittebund

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 8th Carnival cruise and overall I was quite happy with everything. Noticed some cost saving measures on this cruise however: 1. PM housekeeping was often skipped and used towels not replaced. 2. Duvet covers were not changed in the 6 days (not sure about the sheets) 3. Espresso used to be available at no charge after dinner. $1.95 charge now

Family Cruise Vacation by KenFuller

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My cruise on 5/18/13 thru 5/26/13 on Carnival "Freedom", Boarding the ship was very easy and organized. During the course of my vacation their was no place to relax on the Lido deck. Not enough lounge chairs, and the Serenity Deck the same way. The pools and hot tubs were filled with drunk people and some were having sex in the pool and hot tubs. the only clean outside water fun was the waterslide. The Lido deck restaurant had signs posted no bare feet, and bathing suits. Alot of people were wearing bikini's and not wearing shoes. This wasn't enforced. Trivia games the same people always won, not enough famiy shows after dinner, and the disco was very loud and to smokey. The best things were the housekeeping staff on our deck level, and the wait staff in the restaurant for dinner.

Hard, droopy beds took away from a potential great experience by Luvcruising3708

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This would have been a wonderful cruise, as the service, entertainment, and activities were all pretty good. The main thing that took away from our experience was the very hard, droopy, sunk in beds. It made our sleep at night quite a challenge. We couldn't get a good nights sleep to save our lives. Considering we went on this cruise to get some rest, the objective was completely unachievable. We did have several extra comforters put on our beds, but even still, it didn't help enough to illiminate the pain and discomfort we went thru every night we hit the sack. As soon as we walked into our room, we could see the beds dipped horribly. We had an extra comforter put on the bed, but it didn't help the dipping, nor did it make the bed more comfortable. We then had another one added and it still didn't solve our problem. We found 2 additional comforters under our bed and proceeded to triple them over and place them in the center parts of our beds to try and add more bulk to the part that dipped, but still it looked like a hammock. The edges raise so much higher than the center that we could only sleep in the very middle of each twin bed pushed together. When we tried to cuddle, it was like trying to keep ourselves from falling down a cliff. At least, that's what it felt like to us. It is so wrong to keep beds like that on board. They should replace them when they get that bad. It is impossible to get a good nights rest when a bed is that hard and that con caved. We were so tired the entire trip. We didn't even schedule any tours because, not only were we tired, but our backs, hips, and shoulders hurt so bad. We even took pain pills and sleeping pills to no avail. So unfair to put customers thru that kind of experience. Had it not been for that, out trip would have been so much better. Lack of sleep and rest can change your entire vacation, and that it did. We are still trying to recover from those beds. Too bad, because the trip could have been so much better. We even had to miss the 2 best nights of entertainment because we were just too tired. We even tried to sleep in, but the pain got the best of us. It was also impossible to get lounge chairs around the pool, as many put blankets out early to save their spots and made it difficult for others to lay out. It was like that all over the ship, actually. Even at the serenity deck for adults only, we couldn't find lounge chairs. We weren't the only ones complaining about that. Many were. I guess, that was to be expected. Carnival tried to get that under control, but it was nearly impossible.

6 day, 3 port cruise by sbest7773

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We chose this cruise for its great itinerary: Key West, Grand Cayman and Jamaica, mon. There were enough sea days to take full advantage of the open decks for sunning, reading in the shade, and just people watching. Of course, it helped that the weather was fantastic! April - May and October - November are usually great weather-wise in the Caribbean. (We have been cruising for 16 years and live year round in Fla.). The staff on Carnival Cruises have always been very friendly and go out of their way to offer assistance and get us whatever we have needed. Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale), is easy to get to and there is great transportation from a nearby Park and Go if you choose not to park at the terminal. We highly recommend this cruise.

Not Impressed by shipster

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Since I have been on about 15 carnival cruises, I was expecting a very nice cruise experience on Carnival Freedom. I was actually disappointed with my trip this time. The food on Freedom was mediocre. The flat iron steak had no taste and the shows were disappointing except the Beatles show.
