Fun Trip! by Cruiser13051508

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Cheers package with 30 close friends was awesome fun!  The bar staff at the Red Frog Lido Rum Bar, casino bar and Alchemy bar were the Best.  The craft cocktails at the Alchemy Bar were amazing!   The burgers at the Burger bar were delicious and the convenience of 24/7 pizza was very nice.

Wonderful Trip with Family by kimgrasty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Boat was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Getting together each night with family was my favorite part and our wait staff was a big part of our enjoyment. The food tasted and looked wonderful that we received in the dining room. We took in a few of the nightly shows and really was entertained.

August 6, 2016 Cruise by Cruiser71122495

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Dancers, shows & food in main dining rooms & waiters were outstanding. Our cabin steward, Olvin, was eager to please & I was extremely pleased to receive a $50 spa gift certificate which I used toward my 1st massage onboard a Carnival cruise. Shondra was my therapist & the experience was fabulous! Martin was our main dinner waiter at Posh Early Dining, 2nd floor. He & his crew were outstanding. Harta, the Bar Waiter, at dinner became my friend because I wanted a glass of Merit nightly! A few things that could use improvement were the Casino. The strong smell of smoke was horrible everywhere! They certainly need improved ventilation as I could not even go near that area. The Hairy Man contest was a joke this time as the guy who won was such a slob & no hair. There were better candidates. Wish we could choose where our dinner dining location would be before boarding, & even after boarding, have better dining choices. Oh yes, George & Ebert were our morning dining waiters & they were fabulous. They were in main dining room, lower floor, back of the ship. Don'T remember her nsme, but lady who served the "flavored" delicious coffees, as well as cookies & shakes was very friendly & efficient! Carson Rhoades was the Piano Man & very entertaining! We were not as impressed this time with the adult comedy guys. I was a bit disappointed with the shopping on the Carnival Freedom; however, it is smaller than the Carnival Magic, which we have cruised on numerous times. Overall, it was a very nice cruise, we seemed to get on & off the ship faster, & we will look forward to cruising with Carnival again soon! We truly appreciate Dream Vacations for taking care of our reservations & details to safe & have a good time. Thanks to Carnival & Dream Vacations!!!

Fun for the entire family by colleenwesterma

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This trip was a great value! Each port offered something for the entire family!  I would highly recommend! The ports and excursions appeared clean and very safe. The excursions were sensitive to the needs of my elderly parents traveling with us and made sure to take extra steps to accommodate them.

Family friendly and affordable by hilyarajrohan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We love cruising with Carnival.  This was our 2nd cruise and we decided to cruise again with Carnival because we enjoyed our 1st cruise.  Out 1st cruise was on the Carnival Imagination and this time we cruised with Carnival Freedom.  The staff on both ships exceeded my expectations.  The housekeepers and all dining staff greets you with a smile.  The dining staff goes out of their way to accommodate you.  My daughter has a few allergies to foods and after mentioning to our waitress of those foods, she suggested other options for foods that my daughter could eat.  The housekeepers were prompt in tidying our rooms.  All staff seemed to truly enjoy their job and saying bye at the end of the cruise was bittersweet because we created a friendship with the staff and was truly going to miss seeing them after seeing them everyday for 7 days.  We made new friends with the staff and I hope to see them again in the future.Happy

Service was SPECTACULAR! by LISADO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Everyone remembered our names and would say hi to us whenever we would run into each other. I don't know how they can remember us all, but we appreciate it. :)

It's also amazing how quick they are to clean up something on the ship. The boat was always clean wherever we went!

I can't say enough about the excellent service we received from the Carnival staff. We were traveling with my mom, who requires a handicap scooter and they could not have been more cordial and helpful.

Carnival Freedom Cruise July 2016 by Cruiser15065014

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The best part of our cruise was the attentiveness of the staff to our needs on board the ship.  The crew we came in contact with daily knew our names and were always cheerful and willing to help in any way. We also really enjoyed the dining room for our evening meals and the Serenity deck for adults only. The first day getting on the ship and the last day getting off do require a bit of patience as it's a long process, but otherwise it was relaxing and fun!

Awesome Family Vacation by TEXASTRAVELEE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite port was Ocho Rios as the Beach Club VIP package was priceless! We ate on the beach in shade and write serviced the entire time we were there by charismatic islanders who made us feel welcome. In Cozimel  there were fish swimming with us which provided a memorable experience for the children. The ship was nice, the service was exceptional and the memories are unforgettable.

Carnival Freedom - Western Caribbean Cruise by dpalms

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Food was by far the star of the trip - Exquisite, exceeded expectations and the ship itself is truly a work of art.  The staff from top to bottom are top notch, friendly and knowledgeable with only a very few exceptions that not worth mentioning.  The people are dedicated and committed to making your vacation memorable.  Truly outstanding service overall.

Communications on the ship left some to be desired - the PA system is not very good, very difficult to hear.  It took us a few days to get used to the rhythm of how things work and we missed the Captain's Dinner as a result.  A small investment upfront in helping first timers figure it out quickly would be well worth the effort.

Overall value for money for sure.

Carnival freedom by caroliwalker480

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall it was excellent! We did the ruins of tulum with lunch, in Cozumel which was amaIng. We where a little rushed throughout the whole ordeal which was a bummer and we also didn't have enough time to shop or do anything other than the excursion . We also did the stingray city and turtle farm in the Cayman Islands which all the kids loved. Make sure you bring snacks because the excursion does not offer any type of food and it lasts all day. The turtle farm is neat for little kids , however my 13 year old wasn't too impressed and we couldn't get lunch and it took forever just to get a drink. Jamaica was my least favorite. As soon as you get off the boat you are being hounded by locals to get a cab or buy something and even after you say "no" they still follow you. We ended up at margaritaville and that's where we stayed until it was time to get back on the boat. Overall it was amazing time and I would still do it all over again .

7 Night Western Carribean by mbv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Everything was great!  The only things that I wish would be improved are having someone to direct people after debarking to the luggage pick up and the shuttles back to the car.  A few more food options after 2-3pm would be great also.

Less than I expected. by knmfox

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

When being checked in, they spent 15 minutes examining a bottle of White

Zinfedel wine, saying it looked like bourbon. Even took the top seal off and

sniffed the cork. I finally told the fifth person, a supervisor to uncork it  and

take a drink.  He let It pass.

There were few activities That I was interested in.  The evening shows

were geared to a much younger age group... of course.

I felt the excursions were over priced for what we received; one staff person talked us out of and excursion, saying it was not worth it.

Pros and cons, but the cons have the edge by codox

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Pros: most of the staff was extremely friendly and a couple stood out even above those.   Food was never bad but also never great.  Drinks were the same. Some staff were rude and also offensive (racist, homophobic).  The live shows and comedy were great.

The largest issue we had was that we had no A/C.  We reported it daily, and each day were told "You have to report it if you want us to fix it" as though it was our first time to mention it.    I then reported it in writing and got it signed off by the employee.  Still no air.  That makes sleeping pretty tough for 6 nights. We weren't given so much as an apology or a fan, and we were pretty grumpy due to sleep deprivation.

Fun on waves by jilloo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had an amazing time on our first cruise. We loved everything about it. Who can complain about nice people, sunshine, swim pools, movies, plays, comedy clubs, dancing, awesome food, music of all kinds, no dishes, no making beds, clean linens, and no cooking for a week! Awesome experience!
