Great relaxing vacation by MelissaR4

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my first cruise and I found it to be very relaxing and overall the best vacation I have ever had. The stateroom was just like the picture on the web site. The bathroom and shower were great also, plenty of room and storage. The beds were very comfortable. The food was great, I really enjoyed the dinners. The staff are also very helpful and friendly.

Disorganized cruise by TammyK5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have been on 3 past carnival cruises and they were all fantastic deals and great fun. This ship was the worst looking, and badly run. Evenets were not planned out to span the day with big events, they all gathered at the same time frames. When on shore the instructions and debarking was a mass confusion and the people were rude!!! I even saw someone push the person in front of me. I felt like a heard of cattle being rushed through a slaughter pen. The ship travel was VERY rough the whole trip and eating in the back dining room was a horrible experience due to that, however the wait staff were great! They never finished tha halloween contest and had promised us all prizes ( finalists) We were asked by several others if we knew who won, they promised prises in several categories then left because they were late to introduce the movie on the other side of the ship, It was BADLY organized. The directors were perosonable and funny, but it was hard to excuse the confusion and that to me is not a vacation! To be pushed and hurried here and there because it wasn't organized well. NEVER again on that ship for me, actually I am thinking of changing to Royal carribean cruise lines after this experience, We heard good things about them on this trip. MANY other people were all complaining of the same thing and even the camera crew had to tell people to smile all the time for the videos because you seldom saw anyone smiling on this cruise. Very few of the events were announced but yu could always tell that they were more glad that we got off than on.

The best family reunion by ZairaG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We traveled on the Elation, Western Caribbean on 10-28-06. It is beautiful, clean, and classy. The staff was great. We would leave our rooms and less than an hour later came back, the rooms were clean and organized. This would happen more than once a day. We would really look forward to our dinner. Jose and Carl our waitters were the best. Educated, polite, proffetionals, funny. I booked seven rooms and paid for 5. I have worked for years in hotels in the Orlando area. I had never tried to acomodate so many in a cruise. It would have never been posible if it were not for the help Customer Service gave me. They were so polite and profesionals. My children and grandchildren were so happy. It was a great family reunion. I would highly recommend Carnival. WE just can not wait to go back. The children just loved the kids Club. Even my 15 year old boy. He made friends and had a great time. My husband wants to go back next month. This time just us. He plays classic and popular music . He was very impressed with the piano and two violin players. Like I said before our children and grandchildren are our treasures. We will be back next summer. Memories and pictures will remain with all of us forever. Thank You Carnival. You are the BEST.

Average Cruise by CarmelitaC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The length of the cruise was very nice compared to the shorter versions. Our dining room staff "tolerated" us as we were an "afterthought" table added to their night. Therefore, we had to beg for more water, rolls, etc...we certainly did not receive the "attention" we were accustomed on previous Carnival cruises. I never met the Casino host after spending enormous amounts of money in the casino. The slot attendants were rude. Although I enjoyed the 7-day cruise vs the 3 and 5 day cruises, I would hesitate to sail again on the Elation. Other services were very nice along with specific crew members. Overall, my entire family agrees we have experienced "friendlier" attitudes from crew members when we sailed other cruises.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The food and service was great and we loved the ports but we would never that this boat agin I was horrable. It rocked sooo bad. Almost the whole trip. You could not hardly walk sometimes. Lots of people sick. This was my tenth cruise and never had one to rock like this one. I thank something is wrong with the ship because we had calm seas.

It was okay! by DorothyE

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The employees, for the most part were friendly, professional and the dinner staff were most accomodating and friendly. The ship and all areas were clean, bathrooms were kept immaculate. Room service was prompt. The Filipino band in Romeo and Juliet lounge were great, when they sang a song they sounded like the original artist.

More Positives than Negatives, Worth It by Ebs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This cruise was a good value for the money. Even though we had a cheapo cabin, it was modern, plenty big and kept spotless. The shows were good and we especially liked the band in one of the lounges. While most of the ship is nonsmoking, all of the lounges are smoking. We like to dance, so that was sometimes a problem. A big negative is that Carnival seems to equate yelling with having fun. You dress for a formal dinner and then find everyone is expected to yell their lungs off. Does anyone notice an incongruity here let alone the strong probability of ear damage? We left the dinners early because of this. Also, the dress code for dinner is barely followed. On formal night guys in short sleeve shirts and no tie were admitted. Some of the ladies were miffed since they had brought dressy clothes but many "gentlemen" had apparently not. They should either drop the code or enforce it to at least the extent of requiring a jacket.

Great Time! Great Cruise! by KathyJ2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was very clean, elegantly decorated and had all the amenities we needed. The dining room wait staff were absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to entertain and have fun with our two children (ages 13 and 8). I did not think we would go to the dining much because of the kids- but they wanted to go every night! We went with a group of 15 total- 8 adults and 7 children and we all had a great time. There was a good variety of activities to entertain each person. I was leary of this ship as I have been one two previous cruises on larger ships. We needed to book on a ship that would accommadate 5 persons in a stateroom cabin-so we had to go on a smaller ship to do this. I really believe that we did not lack in much compared to the larger ships with the exception of 2 things. First, I noticed that there were slightly less options for food available in the areas outside of the dining room. The larger ships probably had 2-4 more areas to get food at at different times of the day, however, there wre plenty of options, 24 hour food availability, good selection and quality daily on the Elation. If you had not been on the other cruises, you were amazed at the food aboard. I don't think we were lacking by any means. There was food for all ages and pallettes at all times. The one thing that we did miss/ notice from being on the larger ships, was that the number of lounges on the Elation was definitely less than the others. There were a couple of evenings that we had napped and stayed up late and found out there were no place to go for us after 1:00 A.M. The only place open was the Disco- which only had loud rap music every night. We are the 35-45 year old crowd- and we could not tolerate that. I would have thought they would have at least one other type of club open late.

The Elation and her crew did everything well and allowed us to relax and enjoy each other without distraction. The privacy of our luxurious cabin so close to so many activities was amazing.

Very nice cruise! by JohnT27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

It has great gym with modern treadmills, muscle toning equipment, and a great rubberized running track. I used these two facilities daily to burn off the calories from the food eaten onboard.
