Review summary

The ship was very clean, elegantly decorated and had all the amenities we needed. The dining room wait staff were absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to entertain and have fun with our two children (ages 13 and 8). I did not think we would go to the dining much because of the kids- but they wanted to go every night! We went with a group of 15 total- 8 adults and 7 children and we all had a great time. There was a good variety of activities to entertain each person. I was leary of this ship as I have been one two previous cruises on larger ships. We needed to book on a ship that would accommadate 5 persons in a stateroom cabin-so we had to go on a smaller ship to do this. I really believe that we did not lack in much compared to the larger ships with the exception of 2 things. First, I noticed that there were slightly less options for food available in the areas outside of the dining room. The larger ships probably had 2-4 more areas to get food at at different times of the day, however, there wre plenty of options, 24 hour food availability, good selection and quality daily on the Elation. If you had not been on the other cruises, you were amazed at the food aboard. I don't think we were lacking by any means. There was food for all ages and pallettes at all times. The one thing that we did miss/ notice from being on the larger ships, was that the number of lounges on the Elation was definitely less than the others. There were a couple of evenings that we had napped and stayed up late and found out there were no place to go for us after 1:00 A.M. The only place open was the Disco- which only had loud rap music every night. We are the 35-45 year old crowd- and we could not tolerate that. I would have thought they would have at least one other type of club open late.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Least favorite port- but we didn't go to the beach. Walked around downtown and shopped and walked to the closest Fort. There is a free shuttle you can catch that goes aound ton. Senor Frogs restaurant is really close to the pier. We had fun in there and would probably just go there and stayu there if we went again. Don't miss seeing one of the Forts- but now we've seen one.
Don't Miss: Fort / Senor Frogs

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We secured our own shuttle right off the boat that took us shopping downtown for 2 hours picked us when we wanted, took us to Megan's Bay and back when we wanted for $20.00 per person. Sightseeing while driving and all on the times we picked. The beach was beautiful and the kids loved that there were waves at that beach. All of the island seems clean and beautiful.

Grand Turk Island

Right off the pier you are at a beach which sits next to a Margaritaville. This was fun-but expensive drinks/food. We were enjoying the beach- but several staff on the ship told us to watch out for "sea urchins" in the water - so we wre leary of stepping on one of those in the ocean. The beach was beautiful though-and we did find and hold a "sea urchin"

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
