It's what you are looking for by GildaD

Good clean ship. Need a better director to make use of more of the ship facilities. Not enought events, even the lido deck at night was only used twice at night. Good infirmary, hurt my arm on the door hinge. Too much smoke in lounges, no place did they have any reg. ballroom dancing.

A most delightful experience! by DeanaT

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Upon first boarding the Elation, I was struck by the beauty of the ship. Having sailed with Carnival before, I found this particular ship to be even more elegant and inviting than previous sailings. The oceanview stateroom made ample use of it's small yet inviting interior, and was alway kept impeccably clean and welcoming by our cabin steward. The food was, as always with Carnival, delicious! The presentation in the dining room was lovely, the buffet was always hot and varied, and room service was delivered in a timely and courteous manner. The only slight negative was that we felt a bit rushed in the dining room at times, as we were the early seating and felt they were trying to keep to schedule for the late seating guests. Shows were outstanding, and we were particularly impressed with the hypnotist which added variety to the usual singing/dancing fare. Activities were always available and sure to please, and the energy of the cruise director and staff was contagious. Carnival's private island was stunningly beautiful, and Grand Turk had a delightful, huge oceanfront pool which the children particularly enjoyed. This was one of the few disappoinments as well aboard the ship.. the pool and pool deck was often crowded, particulaly on at sea days, and lounge chairs could be hard to come by. But this certainly did not inhibit our thorough enjoyment of this cruise, and I heartily recomment it!

A Great Thanksgiving had by all!! by SheilaH6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We sailed on the Carnival Elation. We have sailed Carnival numerous times; but this was our first Thanksgiving cruise. We went with my parents (in their 80s) and my sister and her husband. Both have never sailed before. Needless to say they want to go again. Although we were told that there were 1,000 children on board. This just made it feel like home for the Holidays. Before sailing I had heard that the entire fleet had new Comfort bedding. Well, it was great... I dont know if we were to exhausted from all the excitement during the day or the bed was extremely comfortable. Also all the cabins and suites we had were very comfortable. My father (diabetic) was concerned that he would not have any choices for dessert, he was extremely surprised. At Tiffanys buffet and at the Imagination dinning rooms they always had sugar free choices. This made him very happy. Overall we have to say the ship was great and the staff was wonderful as always. Cant wait until next time.

A Spectacular Cruise by ClarenceJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We sailed on the Elation and this was our first cruise ever. We are planning another one soon. It was a delight and a joy to ride the waves or a roaring sea one night and a calm sea the rest. We went on a 5 days cruise with you. It was a experience that we have shared with family and friends. My family is now trying to get a cruise together. We loved the boat, the resturants, the staff of how they treated us and the many pictures we took they were outstanding. The state room we had on the inside made us fill very special as if we were on our honeymoon. We have been married for 23 yrs come 01/28/2007. I cannot wait for the next cruise with Carnival Cruiseline regardless of what ship we sail on. I would recommend you guys to any and everybody. May God Always Be With You All and His Many Blessing Fall Upon Your As Well. Keep doing what you are doing to make people like us as 1st time goer and others who have been before feeling like we are Kings and Queens of the Sea. I love your hospitallity an expertise of your staff. Thank you for making our 1st cruise such a special one and one we will not ever forget. From the both of us WE WILL BE BACK as Arnold Swartzenager would say. Thank you very much Mr. & Mrs Clarence Jackson.

So So Not so wonderful by GaryP9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first cruise and we thought we did our homework so we picked the 4 day Bahama cruise with Carnival. This was our Anniversary as well so we got the last Suite available. This was by far the best part of the cruise the Suite (with a balcony) was just great we can't say enough about it. The food at best was ok and maybe not even that at times. The food was not hardly even warm enough to eat most evenings and lunch out on the pool deck was awful, hambuger and hot dogs each day. The pziza was worse than store bought frozen too. The best meal was on Formal night it was really good. Carnival has done away with the Midnight buffet with the ice sculpures on it's 3 and 4 day cruises we were told. We were looking forward to this since we had heard so much about it. The entertaiment on the ship was ok, the music was pretty good but that was about all you had unless you did alot of gambling. Since the sun didn't shine until the very last day thats exactly what we had to do. As far as the Bahamas go, they can have them!! A tourist trap to say the least and with no sunshine going to the beach was out.

So Worth It by MargaritaS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship was great. This was our first cruise and we were celebrating our 1 year anniversary. The room was always nice and clean every time we went back to it. The staff all over the ship was very friendly and there was a lot of things to do on the ship. One of the best things on the ship was the food. I couldn't believe we ate so well for the price we paid. We had a wonderful time!

A mind saver by ChrisS25

I think that the children need to be somewhere else so adults can enjoy the hot tubs and pool. it seemed like too many children were there. but then if I had kids I would have them there too. so it is not the ships fault

A Thrill and Chill of a Cruise by JuneA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This cruise was fun but could have bypassed Freeport. The food is wonderful. Entertainment is just that! The staff goes above and beyond to provide your every need. Try and figure out when they appear and disappear from your stateroom. It is great never to see the statemen but you do see their nice work. Loved the towel animals. It would ssem there was something for all ages available to keep everyone busy. Nice job.

Great Cruise by SteveT3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ships crew were all friendly. It was a joyous occasion. Tip to new cruisers. Do not tip everyone. They are getting paid from your room tips already. I really enjoyed the food and we had the best waiter on the boat. I was included in many of the game shows and many things.

I'd cruise again! by MaryB55

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The staff on the ship were friendly and in abundance. There were a variety of activities available. The best part of my trip was that shore trips were planned down to the last detail, although we started out rather early--8:00 a.m., which meant getting up at 7:00 a.m.

Very Relaxing by VirginiaY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a very relaxing, enjoyable vacation. I have sailed many times on several of the Carnival ships and this was one of the best. Very clean and tidy and friendly staff. The food was mostly very good and very abundant. You will never go hungry that's for sure! My friend and I were travelling without husbands or kids and we were seated at a table of women who were also travelling by themselves. We had a blast! We looked so forward to dinner each night. Kudos to whoever worked out the dining plans. Our wait staff was great fun and kept us fed and entertained. Our cabin was always taken care of and our steward was very friendly and helpful. We ordered room service late one night and it was prompt and very yummy. I would definitely sail on the Elation in the future.

All Aboard for Good Times by JoanneJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

Once again, Carnival runs a tight ship. Everything was perfect, especially the service from all employees. The food was great also. I have never been disappointed on any of my Carnival cruises. It is the only cruise line I use.

A so so cruise by PamelaA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is only my second time on a Carnival ship. I was very impressed with Glory and I thought Elation would be similar. But overall I was disapointed. The ship was actually very pretty. There were signs of aging but I witnessed carpet being put down and painting being done. It did lack the cleanliness that I have experienced on other ships. The bathrooms on the lido deck were always dirty and lacked the essentials. The cabins were spacious but my cabin steward lacked the desire to please. We only had towel animals in our room three out of five nights. Much to the chagrin of my 8 year old grandchildren. He also never did anything but clean the bathroom and do the beds. Never any folded nightgowns or anything to make me feel pampered or taken care of. The first night in the dining room was anything but special. We had a 5:45 seating and I had to leave at 7pm before receiving dessert. Had to go to a Carnival Kids Club orientation. My server never bothered to make recommendations or explain any of the selections which is something I never experienced on any other ship on any other cruise line. I did try dinner on formal night but experienced the same service from the server but in a more timely manner. I didn't go back. The food in Tiffany's was fair but never hot (temperature). It was a little worrisome for me, being in the food service business. The service in Tiffany's however was good. The staff was helpful. I found the purser to be very helpful when I complained about service in the dining room. As I mentioned before, I had two eight year olds traveling with me and they enjoyed the kids club a lot. The counselors did lack enthusiasm at times but overall they did a good job of enteraining the kids. I received the best service and hospitality in the casino and the coffee bar. The entertainment was the usual, nothing really special.

mexico/keywest cruise by KimS14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Although I would recommend this ship, my philosophy is that a bad cruise does not exist, there were many things that could have been improved on this trip. The food compard to other cruise lines wasn't what I had expected. The buffets at lunch time were scarce when it came to choices. The formal sit down dinner menu was great when considering presentation and taste. Breakfast was very monotonous when it came to buffet choices. The ship was elegant and very clean. We did notice that at many times throughout our experience that the ship was undergoing maintanence during prime time hours and not discretely done off hours, perhaps when guest were sleeping or off the ship at one of the arranged destinations. The entertainment was enjoyed as we attented most shows.
