We had a great time by Sandra4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The ship was in good condition. Not the newest, but it did the job. I was clean, good size, tons of places to be in... amazing how many people are on the ship, and still you can find a place so that you can be on your own.

Better than I expected by GregA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

We were very pleased with the service and the people. They had great attitudes and seemed geniunely concerned with us. The food was prepared so nice. Everyone at the table was taking pictures before eating. Lots to do on the boat. The shore excursions were nice. I was surprised that I had to pay for a lot of extras after boarding the ship. I really thought most of that was already taken care of, but it was my first cruise....live and learn. The ship was clean. The stewards kept the room spotless. Was very impressed with the friendliness of the entire crew.

1st Cruise Experience by JohnS17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Thank you to the staff for answering many questions, as the "Welcome aboard Info packet from Carnival" could not be downloaded. Apparently Carnival is aware and trying to correct the problem as Carnival is no longer mailing the "paper" brochure. It was good to be informed of the list of fees and additional charges. We used as many prepay as we thought we'd use and definitely avoided the end of cruise "billing statement shock" many of our fellow travelers experienced. It would have been more fun to spend the evening in Catalina Island as we were advised to return to the ship before dark for safety reasons in Ensenada. Our schedule was 9-4 in Catalina and 10-9 in Ensenada. On board activities were enjoyed by many. The evening shows were great and different each night. The food was plentiful and good, but our group preferred the all inclusive in Mexico (past vacation) for variety, options and taste.

We where elated to be on the elation by Debra25575389

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

This was our first carinaval cruise. San Diego to Catalina Island and Enesenda. We had an outside cabin on the Riveria deck. Plenty of bath towels. Towels animals where adorable. Free movies 3 different ones everyday. The adult only deck area was really nice. The loungers had cushioned pads. There was a sun area and a shaded area. 2 hot tubs and an outdoor shower. You where able to get towels right there using your sail and sign card. Overall I can't wait to go again

Wonderful experience! by CraigC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

It's like the fanciest Las Vegas casino with shows, restaurants, activities, pools, jacuzzis, mini-golf, volleyball, basketball, etc., all included for a great price, plus it moves! Catalina island was amazing. I really recommend the parasailing and to go snorkeling over the kelp forests. Ensenada was interesting, a poorer Mexican city. Went and saw the marine geyser (one of three in the world which was neat. Somewhat aggressive vendors near there though.

The age group was not suitable for us. This would be a consideration for us on future cruises.

A superb cruise by Mcd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Carnival really lived up to its reputation as the premier cruise line for families with kids (even teens). We cruised with other families with kids that were my son's classmates as well as my nephews. They all had a great time. We've cruised before with Princess, RCCL, and Norwegian and by far this was the best in terms of activities for kids. The others were first time cruisers but will cruise again with Carnival. I can't wait to get into their larger ships in the Caribbean or Europe--hope to do that next summer with the same group. Had a real blast!

We are very pleased with our last-minute vacation cruise. Our previous plans fell through and so we booked this cruise 4 days before and it worked out great. The price and ship were beyond our expectations.

ATTENTION CRUISE VIRGINS!!! by TheB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

It was my first time using carnival or even being on a cruise for that matter. This ship is a total partier ship, and 20-40ish couple romantic getaway ship not really for the youngin's or old folk even though they have activities for them its just not compatible. I suggest you play the horse betting game in the casino the third game they up the winnings and for three bucks you can win up to eighty bucks if your stuff animal horse wins!!! If you want to eat great then i suggest the dining room for breakfast lunch and dinner you have to have a server and his helper and they really really want a good tip but that food its sooooo much better then the grill, and cafe. That food in the cafe and the grill are really filling and heartburny and also you can get any kind of reg drinks for free if you tip well. You can even ask for the lobster and the prime rib and extra shimp cocktails if you grease the waiters hand well :). I dont have on bad thing to say about the staff. They are all very interesting with different accents. Only one staff was from new orleans everyone else where from other places then the usa. They were young and cute and very helpful. If you get too drunk the security comes out and takes you some where i saw this chick get taken away because see was piss drunk on the first day. Never get a one room for 5 people. get two rooms for the same price!!! The towel animals every night found in the room was totally cool and they suggest that you tip 30.00 per person on the cruise for tips. (but you can take it off your bill if you tell them you were tipping manually.) u cant do anything with money there except the horse race in the casino. everything is with you stupid key card. some people were charged for things that werent theres so make sure you check your reciept when you clear your acct. I liked it and my kids and seasick bracelets and pills and it helped. No free soda or bottled water so bring your own or buy in mexico its totally expensive on the ship.

Bait and Switch by KirkJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

advertises carnival cash, but you will never get any of it. They have language so that they can deny you the money. I am also pretty sure this post will not get posted too. The ship is generally clean and nice, but the finish is loud and gaudy.

Fun with friends cruise by Gr1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Windows were filthy, but they were washing them as we left. Food not good in buffet. Boat is so dated in decor. Bathrooms around boat dirty. Buffet , tables not cleared soon enough. Bad.... The rooms are decent and clean, bathroom was bigger than most other ships. The dancing elation show was terrible, comedian was very good. It was a good trip, because it was with my friends. I have cuised on Carnival, 1999, but have been on Princess and Royal. They were far cleaner, way better food. With more fun things to do. Sorry. Just my opinion.
