For our first cruise, it was a lot of fun by dtarsi01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a fun, family vacation on Carnival Elation. We wish the pool was a little bigger, but with the stops in Nassau and Half Moon Cay, the beaches more than made up for it. Melessa was a fantastic cruise director and has a ton of energy (We still aren't sure when she sleeps!). Overall, it was a good first cruise experience.

Wonderful wait staff and entertainment by seelias

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship is smaller than I thought which is great for first time cruisers, but overall I had a great time thanks to the great people that I met during dinner!! Shout out to all the entertainers who did an outstanding job!

Definitely not worth what we paid. by lizperez44

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Definitely not what we expected and less after what we paid. I’ve been on 6 other cruises with Carnival and I have never experienced the stuff I did with this cruise. The attitude from the staff was horrible. We had the cheers package which already includes the tip, if we ordered a drink and didn’t give an additional tip we would get attitude or they just wouldn’t come back with our drink.

Excellent First Cruuse by cbutler7878

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Everything was excellent. We did wish on sea day there were more shows during the day but they had plenty to do. My husband was disappointed that there was not a cigar lounge anymore. The food was great, the staff were superb. We enjoyed snorkeling at Paradise Cove in Freeport. In Nassau we walked to Queens Staircase, ate conch fritters, and shopped. We were on the ship in about 20 minutes and off in about the same or less with Faster To The Fun supplement. I highly recommend it. We will be cruising again!!

Good Trip with Some Complications by cwalden323

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The trip itself was good, the room accommodation was not. I have two small children and requested something that had the lower pull out bed as my kids cannot sleep on the upper bunks even with rails (the sleep incredibly wild). We arrive and there are 2 upper bunks in the room. After speaking with guest services there was really nothing they could do according to the supervisor. The stateroom staff ended up providing 1 cot w/ mattress and then 1 additional mattress and the kids slept on that. I think carnival really needs to rethink the upper bunk layout for families with small children.

overall, good trip to Bahamas by jennl23423

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Good cruise and many things to do for kids. (their first cruise, our third) DJ could have done much better with music selection (DJ Select) Kids Club was fantastic. Very organized and daily itenary for activities. Comedy shows were great. Food, wish there were more vegetarian options, otherwise expected satisfaction.

Enjoyed, but will use different cruise line. by jabrywho3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship was ok. The food was excellent. The entertainment was good. The cabin on the other hand was unbearably hot. We couldn’t rest well. It was so warm that I slept with a cold rag on my forehead and would wake up often!! The refrigerator never got our drinks cold. We were told it is not like our refrigerator at home when we complained. So, I assume a refrigerator is just a storage box for drinks. This was our second cruise. Our first with Carnival. We will not use Carnival again because we did not have this problem with the other cruise line.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The staff on the boat was amazing. Everyone was nice and helpful. Housekeeper Julian made sure the room stayed clean and that we had everything we needed. The liquor staff work from Jamaica was very knowledgeable about the liquor selection on the cruise. Pan Guru was a amazing performer. Overall I had amazing time on the cruise.

Everything was wonderful but the Debarkation back in Jacksonville. That was the worst one I have even been a part of on all cruises I have been on.

Very disappointing trip by brendacovington

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have waited for years to take a cruise and was really looking forward to it. It was a very disappointing trip. Every person that I talk to you will be told that the trip was no where near what I expected. My family and I were just let down.

It's like a smoke shop and a walmart had a baby and sent it off to sea.... by NotACarnivalFan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have cruised 4 times in my life, 3 with Royal Caribbean, and this cruise with carnival. I can tell you that I will never sail on Carnival again. The amount of cigarette smoke was so disgusting, we couldn't even use our balcony on our suite which we paid for the privilege to use! Yes, their policy is no smoking in that area but people do.. and when we complained.. OH we will send someone. Whomever they sent must have been blind as a bat.... and it was only made worse when we got off the elevator on the lido deck to have breakfast and there they were smoking and drinking away at 8 am in the morning. My family could not escape the smoke unless we were in our room, which had a nice cat pee smell in the bathroom (which I account to the bathrooms/staterooms being new since the boat was refurbished a few months ago). Oh, Unless you like it Nuts to butts, Forget about the hottubs or the pools, even on the serenity deck. The Kids overtake ALL of that stuff and then where there is no kids, there's the drunk people. The serenity deck lets teenagers in there and well, no serenity at that point. now, move on to the drunk people and the kids. The drunk people were your typical drunk folk. Bumpin into everyone, leering at the half naked women in their bikini's on the boat, and again, their lack of regard for smoking areas... The kids though topped it. Running up and down the halls until 3 or 4 am every night. Again, calls to customer care or whatever the desk was called Yeilded nothing.. Now, Lets be honest. Put those 2 aside and the rest was not all that bad. The dining room food was great, the buffet.. well not so much unless you like cheap crap (the Caribbean food was good on the one day). The pizza place, don't bother. If you like it, you don't know what good pizza is.... DIgiorno is better... Guys burger joint was actually good. that was our lunch spot. The staff really was great.. Getting on and off for ports was awesome (GET THE FASTER TO THE FUN!!!!! BEYOND WORTH IT). The stingray encounter on balmoral was the absolute best.. The best memories on my trip were made there. All In all, if they had a better handle on the smoking, drunkards, and the kids, I might have sailed again but until they do not allow smoking RIGHT BY THE POOL, I'm never touching carnival again.

Perfect blue, between ocean an sky by ccontescu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We were a three generations party: grandfather (70), son (42) and granddaughter (14). Everyone enjoyed the cruise experience differently, but we all did, in very personal ways: the immensity of the ocean, the tranquility of the private beach and laguna, or the adventures with dolphins in Nassau. We all appreviated the personalized attention we got from the room steward (Seth), from restaurant personnel (Oana, Andrea, Cesar, Oxana) and the entertainment program (various parts of it, as appropriate for each generation).
