Disappointing by jnrforbes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We booked and planned this cruise for our children and their spouses ages 20-26, we booked 4 balcony rooms, we have always cruised royal caribe an but chose carnival because we were told it was geared towards the 20 something crowd, boy was that not true. We had our 2 yo grandchild with us as well, and on the first day were told she could not use the small slide even with her parents holding her, so everytime she was outside she wanted to slide and couldnt. The nightclub was closed most nights, the shows were too packed no seats, the smoke filled casino was awful and the food made at least 1 if not 2 of us sick everynight, this was the most disappointing trip I have ever been on and really makes me sad I spent so much time and money trying to plan this for over a year for my family of 9. We will not be cruising with carnival again.

Thank you for an enjoyable vacation! by thanhjohn95

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It should be the best if we can have a water bottle while coming back into the ship after a long walk at Key West, Freeport & Nassau. Anything else is excellent and enjoyable. The staff is very nice and helpful! I really like the Cruise! Thank you so much!  Happy

Great cruise - too much noise and disrespect by mattbell44

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Carnival Dream is a nice ship and her crew are excellent.  We were very well looked after, our cabin was spacious and well-appointed, and the food was good (especially at dinner, buffet quality a bit less so).  However, there is almost nowhere quiet on this boat - even the adults-only Serenity Deck is right below the water slides and frequently occupied by noisy adults!  Unfortunately we were also joined by a significant number of ignorant, rude passengers who failed to respect any concept of personal space; their noise and crude language was frankly an embarrassment to America and I wish my kids hadn't had to experience it (although it gave me ample chance to teach them some lessons in being respectful and what are unacceptable behaviors in public)

Fun but overcrowded with terrible disembarkation by MiriamG411

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

While the cruise was enjoyable (and the excursions especially fun - we booked two through Carnival and one through ), the trip felt as if there were too many people on the boat. We constantly were waiting in lines and the disembarkation process was a terrible, half-day experience that resulted in some members of our party almost missing their flight. Everything you buy (at least the drinks) also have an automatic 15% gratuity, while the tips are automatically added to your account, removing the option of actually choosing whether and how much to tip.

Butler Friends and Family 2016 Cruise by mizcele1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Spending time with friends & family who had traveled from all over the U.S. to join us on the cruise. We celebrated 3 college graduates, 5 birthdays and 1 retirement. We enjoyed that there were activities for our crew from the age of 3 to 83.  Everyone had fun and can't wait to do it again.

Too much time at sea, not enough in ports by johnb94501

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Service, food and room, was very good.

Entertainment was about a 2.5. We have had much better entertainment on other cruises

Jamaica was very disappointing. We took a 7 hour tour to a Gin producer and the ride was boring and depressing.

Cozumel was nice, but not a lot to do or see.

Grand Cayman was the best of the three, clean and some things to see and do.

New Orleans was the best port of the cruise; it made up for the disappointing three island visits.

Food was good and service outstanding.

Would not recommend this to others, Alaska and Hawaii much better cruise.

Thanks for getting us flexible dining option.

sorry I can not say a lot of good things about the trip.

Family vacation with Carnival by barbarapage

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Everything went as expected.  Carnival has good entertainment and lots of different food available.  We had a medical problem and the medical team was like having your own personal medical clinic.

review on my 7 day Caribbean cruise by serenityceleste15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We absolutely loved the cruise. We by far agreed that our favorite part was the excursion to passion island this was absolutely amazing and the people who worked on the island were incredibly kind especially Alex and Horhay. I would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone that asked. The staff on board was more than accommodating and made the trip even more pleasurable. The food was amazing and I felt as if I had been spoiled to it upon return. Imade was the name of our room steward and I don't think I could give him enough praise, every time we came down our hallway to our room he was on his feet working hard but always presented a smile and a friendly greeting, any time we left the room when we came back it was completely spotless and if we returned during the day even for a few moments by the time we came back he had straightened up again. Enough can not truly be said about his work. The only complaint we had at all was that the ship was a bit crowded and hard to move around at times, but other than that this was an absolutely lovely cruise!!! I enjoyed every minute and would definitely do it again!    Happy

Third carnival cruise by bubbasmom39759

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

nothing special about the trip or food, but kindness towards our disabilities was nice. The kids loved the slide a the ice cream.  Young lady at the excelsior desk was so nice.  Wheelchair had to be rammed in and out of the door every time, so you should order a scooter instead.

Awesome cruise, incredible crew!! by ShelleyL5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was a wonderful cruise! Our wait staff was the best I have ever had, and I have been on 9 cruises! Anthony, Albert and Bagus, (and Sean, the matri'D were so exceptional! My grandsons were on the cruise, and the wait staff, especially Anthony and Bagus, were so great to the kids, my 7 year old cried when he had to leave Anthony! He did card tricks, and all kinds of cool stuff to keep the kids busy while we ate. They brought their food right away, they were just fabulous! Our room steward Raabe, was excellent too, never had to ask for anything!

Each evening I had a glass of Moscato, and they ran out, and didn't have any for the last two nights, which I found odd. The dancers were just amazing, the show they put on was the best ever! You can tell how much work went into this show! Talked to one of the dancers named Chris, from Pennsylvania, and he was so kind and patient talking to us, such a nice young man! My daughter had a problem with one of the Build a Bear associates. The leg on the leopard she bought ripped, and when she brought it back the girl that waited on her was incredibly rude to her. If Carnival wants this program to succeed, then the associates running it have to be nicer. She found out (from a nice young man that took care of her) that it had been overstuffed, and that is why it ripped. He didn't argue with her, he was very nice, and gave her a new one. Also, need to get the places where the kids are measured for the waterslides in sync...on one, my grandson was tall enough to go down the slides, on the other one he wasn't, and they sat and argued with my daughter about it, and then told her he couldn't go down ANY of the slides...I felt that was really wrong. This was a vacation of a lifetime, their FIRST cruise, and he was not allowed on any waterslides. He is only four, and he loves waterslides. We should have gone to guest services and complained, but I know it really upset my daughter and her husband.

Is Carnival on a Decline? by bayareasooner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our 3rd Carnival cruise and 8th cruise overall.  Until this point we had been very please with Carnival and the level of service and food quality when compared to the other cruise lines we have sailed with.  This time, we were disappointed in what appears to be a decline in service, an overall reduction in the availability of food and the food quality.  With regards to the service, we've always had our room cleaned after we left the cabin regardless of the time of day we finally got up and going.  We always came back to our room each night to find our cabin had "Turn Down" service.  This time, on the first day, our steward let us know that we would need to call if we left our cabin after a certain time if we wanted the cabin cleaned, we also had to opt for nightly "turn down" service.  With the food, this was hit and miss.  The dining rooms appeared to still have the quality of food that we've always known and the steak house was just absolutely excellent.  But the buffet and food quality was definitely down as well as the "extra" offerings we've experienced in the past did not happen such as midnight buffets.  Just another thing I noticed was that certain food items on the buffet were no longer serve yourself as much as you want and you actually had to request the item, ie., Bacon.

July western Caribbean by randerson745348

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruse was very nice and clean, the staff worked hard to make the trip a comfortable cruse. We liked the food and thought the variety was satisfactory.  I would definitely book this cruse again. The only con is the unsupervised kids running around. I really can’t hold that against the cruise line.

well worth it by wishiwasrich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

there was something for everyone to do each night. always food for when you were hungry. loved the shows that were preformed each night. Kudos to Jase, the performers, all those that prepared the food, and even to those that clean your room each day. All were very nice and polite. only complaint i got was the elevators, you just get tired of waiting and end up taking the stairs and after a full day of being out n about, a free lift would have been nice. other than that, it was great.

First cruise by lhathaway

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I booked a mother/daughter trip for me and my 23 year old daughter.  (no cell phones = no boyfriend).   We had an amazing time.  The crew and shows were awesome.   I actually booked two excursions through cruise only and one through carnival.   On the two I booked through CruiseOnly we actually were the only two on the excursions or that showed up so we had personal guides.  On horseback riding in Honduras because my daughter had owned a horse the guide let her run up an down the picture and took time to take pictures of us on a rock bed at the water.   We did the Jeep excursion in Cozumel and we ended up with a wonderful guide Marco.  He let us choose what we wanted to do and gave us an awesome history lesson on the island, treated us to lunch and even bought me a huge bottle of Mexican Vanilla to take home.   The carnival Jeep excursion had more than 10 Jeeps so there was no history lesson there.   I will book through CruiseOnly for our next cruise and neither of us can wait.  Love

Carnival Dream by madayton77

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Excellent cruise out of Port of New Orleans. Ship was well maintained and clean. Punch liner club was so funny with four comedians on the trip. Shows were average the Juggler was by far the best night. Movies by pool had some recent releases. All told a very good trip. Also, Carnival has hit a home run with the Serenity deck.

Surprisingly Great! by barqley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The room was fine.  The bathroom was on the small side and rather utilitarian in decor.  We ate in the dining room for breakfast and dinner each day and found the service, menu and food to be great.  The buffet style lunch was varied but lines could get long.  We enjoyed the comedy shows.  The dance/singing shows were ok.  The cruise director, Jase,  needs to slow down.  We never understood his announcements.

Perfect way to relax and unwind by sulli816

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The staff on this boat were absolutely amazing. They made every part of each day as enjoyable as possible. The food was superb and there were plenty of options for anyone and everyone to eat what they like. This cruise was the second I had been on with Carnival and both times I have felt very satisfied with my choice in cruise liner. If you are looking for a vacation that you can plan everything months in advance and not worry about a single thing while on the boat/destinations, then this is the perfect vacation for you.

Western Caribbean Cruize by MDSmith

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It was smooth sailing.  Great ride very peaceful. Had great AFT room with extended Balcony.  The Steak House while not included was good and worth the 70 dollars extra for my wife and me.  Best part was waking up in new ports to explore.  Bad parts.  We felt like we were on the QVC Shopping network Cruise.  Extra Charges for everything so don't assume its included.  Key West was nice Port enjoyed it very much.  Freeport was lacking and we all booked different versions of the SAME excursion, it was no doubt a tourist Trap.  Nassau was nice and the Concert with Trace Atkins was very good.  It also Cost us 40 dollars Per Person extra.  Food was OK. Had a good little sandwich shop and the pizza was ok.  Other stuff I saw on the website are not on the Ship YET.. supposedly coming in the FALL. it was little misleading...Overall we have a relaxing vacation but don't think I will be rushing back any time soon.  If you don't like LINES you wont like this.
