Interesting Ports of Call by DrewF1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have sailed on seven different lines to date. Carnival out of Galveston TX was by far the worst run ship, full of the most annoying, uncouth, and inebriated Texan passengers that I have ever experienced. That Carnival included a mandatory gratuity rather than providing individual envelopes for tipping was a very poor idea. Ergo the crew did as little as possible, room staff was the bare minimum compared to Celebrity, Holland America or Royal Caribbean. The exception was our waiter and our buss boy in the main dining room. We elected to adjust our gratuities in order to reward those who actually seemed to care about their jobs. Nevertheless it was difficult to deal with the pursers office even for that action. Very long lines for everything and most locations were understaffed to deal with the number of passengers trying to complain, or eat or whatever. No ships staff was available in any of the ports to direct people to their prepaid tours; many people missed their busses, boats etc for this reason. Grand Cayman being the worst example of this easily avoided annoyance. The $100 massages both my wife and I signed up for were nothing but "buff and puff", no real effort on the part of the therapist and way too much talking just to use up time which should have been spent actually getting a massage! Then they tried to sell me $170 in bath salts, and Im male! The extra charges for almost everything on board were annoying and excessive as well. No one bothered to mention parking fees either. Hidden or unpredicted built in gratuity for many services were not appreciated. Over all we had a good time, but not too much thanks goes to Carnival for that, we made our own fun. I would never recommend this cruise line to anyone.

Great Cruise by JeffreyH4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise itself was the best, no complaints. If i were to do this trip again I would not book the cruise and airfare to the ship as one package as I paid 51% more than I would have if I just did it myself. The excursions were great but I will never do them again as your herded like cattle but they are fun one you arrive. Just arrange them yourself at port. What ever you do, do not do the shopping excursion arranged by Carnival in Motego Bay Jaimaca. DON'T DO IT!! It's a total waste of money not to mention all of the stuff you would buy are available at the docking terminal at a fraction of the cost. You would never know that because you are rushed to the bus only to wait so fast that the terminal is nothing more than a blinding light until you return.

Surprisingly Great Cruise! by ToddS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The decor of the Conquest is done in great Renaissance artists. This was right up my alley. We ate in the Monet restuarant, drank in the Degas Lounge, enjoyed the Toulouse LaTrec auditorium. Crew was always cheerful and helpful. Plenty of activities while on board.

Excellent experience overall by RichardM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Third time criuser, first time on the Conquest. Overall, this was an excellent experience. The cabins feel roomy and were very well maintained. Everything on the ship was exceptionally clean. The food in the dining rooms was very good, but we were disappointed with the food available on the buffets. We participated in many of the activities available and had a great time. I would recommend this cruise to anyone. It is worth mentioning that although the ship was filled to capacity on our cruise (3000+ passengers), we were less crowded than on our two prior cruises which each had substantially fewer passengers.

For a Great Time! by LindaD19

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We just returned from a seven day Caribbean cruise aboard the Carnival Conquest. We went with our kids and grandkids and we had a great time. We were able to choose activities that interested each of us. The grandkids had a great time at Camp Carnival! The associate for was very helpful during the planning process. I called several times for more information and received correct information, promptly and courteously. The ship was well maintained and clean. The bulletin of ship's activities was distributed in a timely manner, informative, and times were accurate. We purchased a shore excursion at each port. We went to Rose Hall Beach in Montego Bay; Off the Beaten Path Jeep in George Town, Grand Cayman; and Playa Mia in Cozumel. I would do any of them again. I felt secure in regard to personal safety at all times, aboard ship and in port, and the information I received prior to our cruise was accurate. Needless to say, we are all already planning our next cruise!

FABULOUS CRUISE ON THE CONQUEST by GaryC12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Wonderful Ship. Loved our balcony cabin. Loved the shows and really enjoyed singing along to the charioky singers in the lounge. Thought the port excursions were a little too high but enjoyed the comfort of knowing they would make sure we got back to the boat on time and the boat would not leave without us. Food was delicious. Felt like a king while dining in the dining room. Service was outstanding. We will definitely book another cruise through .

great cruise! by JudithE1

every day on the ship was fun. My teenage boys enjoyed the teen clubs every evening. The shows after dinner and at midnight for us were very good! The ship was very clean and the steward kept us supplied with clean towels and bedding every day. He was always there to help and answer questions. The convenience of on board laundramat was something I was glad to have the use of. All of the buffets were set with delicious foods. The 24 hour pizza bar and late night grill were visited by my entire family many times.

Perfect Way to Honeymoon by AmberH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first time ever to cruise. We chose the Conquest because it docked out of Galveston, TX (just a 9 hour drive from our home in Oklahoma City, OK) and because of when it sailed (my husband is a teacher and we'd gotten married just a week after school was out for the summer) and where it sailed to. We've both always wanted to visit Jamaica, Grand Caymen, and Cozumel, Mexico. The ship was huge....but since this was the first time we cruised we didn't have any bases for comparision and soon found it easy to navigate around.
