Enjoyable Family Cruise by estellarflores

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. The food was delicious; the beds in our stateroom were very comfortable. The evening shows were excellent. I felt very safe at every port. I would recommend this cruise to others.

Eastern Caribbean Cruise by kseabolt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We were disappointed we did not get to stop at Princess Cays; however, we understood the reason and appreciated the care for our safety in a growing storm. There were three generations of us on this ship. We all found something to do. The Princess Theater shows were world class. I was able to take my 10 year old granddaughter and introduce her to quality live shows. She loved the magician, Trigg, the costumes and the songs. Thank you for making this a wonderful vacation.

This was an inspiring itinerary although I though the time in the ports were short. The cruise line needs to figure out a way to extend the time in the various ports. The Panama Canal is awesome, and the rain forest in Costa Rica is superb! by SpaceJunkie

We are advid cruisers. This cruise is likely part of our top 5. We wanted to see the awesome wonder of the Panama Canal and this cruise fully satisfied that desire to see this wonder of the world. It was a great itinerary and to be able to stop in Columbia and Costa Rica was icing on the cake. Princess, well done! We love your service and we will keep coming back.

Princess Preferred: A Review of the Caribbean Princess by DeedeeG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

From the Norman Love truffle pops at the Welcome Toast to the restaurant-like beverage service in the buffet, Princess is filled with surprises that make it my favorite among the mass market cruise lines.

It won’t blow you away with bumper cars or carousels, but what it does deliver is consistently solid service, attention to detail and an eagerness to please.

The recent trip on the Caribbean Princess, our fourth on the line, proved to be as good as the first. With many of the lines noticeably scaling back, Princess is an exception. Here’s some of what made it special:

Ship shape. Princess’ mini-suite is ideal for those who want more space but not at a suite price. It’s essentially the size of a hotel room with two flat screen TVs, a full-sized couch, large counter, and porch furniture featuring reclining chairs, foot stools and a large table. The closets in the mini-suites—as well as the balcony rooms—are the largest we’ve had on any cruise line, and can accommodate three hanging shoe bags, along with a whole lot of clothes.

The staterooms—as well as the public rooms—were immaculate. You’d really have to look hard to find any evidence that the ship was built 11 years ago.

The piazza, the hub of ship activity, this trip featured a pianist, a we-can-play-just-about-anything band and singer, steel drums and a former circus performer who twirled lighted hoops in a blaze of color and grace. The only downside to the handsome piazza is that it can’t always accommodate everyone who wants to be there. Getting a good enough view to take photos of the Mardi Gras party or a seat to eat your International Café quiche can sometimes be all but impossible.

Food; themed and otherwise. Speaking of food, it ranged from fair to good, in both the Main Dining Room and Horizon Court buffet. One innovation in the MDR was Caribbean cuisine, a welcome reminder of where we were. And it was nice to see lobster tail still on the formal night menu.

Horizon Court themed nights were a lot of fun and we found ourselves there more than the MDR. German night was alight with a color-changing, larger-than-life beer stein (in ice, not on ice), landjagger bites and German hams, pretzel rolls, red cabbage, sausages, and linzer and sacher tortes. Italian night, with its gondolier-costumed waiters, served up prosciutto and hunks of parmesan, fennel au gratin and pasta many ways.

The bakery stuff is where Princess really excels. The breads are great—from the sunflower-studded rolls to the cheese-topped croissants to the onion-infused focaccia. The chocolate desserts were excellent, rivaling some of the best bakeries on land.

The ship was as generous with its buffet hours as it was with the food offerings. You can get breakfast until 11:30, lunch until 3:30 (if you miss this, there’s “afternoon snack” from 3:30-5:30, which is a scaled down lunch), and full dinner is available until 11. Late dining was an especially mellow meal, just us, a few other night owls and the crew.

Fun and games. While standard fare, the entertainment was generally good; highlights were a juggler/comedian whose not-G-rated shtick brought on belly laughs, and a magician/comedian with same-but-different sleight-of-hand tricks and fast wit.

In fact, everyone seemed to be a comedian on this trip—including the cruise director, Paul Chandler-Burns. The Brit’s quips shot out like sparks—in an understated, under-the-breath sort of way—and made him the ideal emcee. His banter during the “The Marriage Match Game Show” made it easily one of the best we’ve seen on any ship.

There were several themed parties, the most memorable was the “Love Boat Disco Deck Party” held by the pool. The ship’s singers and dancers, dressed officer-like in white pants suits and captain hats, did the hustle and other moves, while the Movie Under the Stars screen revived scenes from the TV show, interspersing its octogenarian cast members somewhat disconcertedly jiving to a disco beat.

Well served. Service onboard was attentive from the room steward to the well-orchestrated disembarkation. Ironically, some of the best service we had was in the buffet. One night, I was asked by three different waiters within 10 minutes if I wanted any water or coffee.

With the generous room space, great service, varied entertainment with plenty of laughs, satisfying food sprinkled with surprises, and four good Western Caribbean ports (seven days of sun didn’t hurt either), we felt gloriously pampered from ship to shore. And felt that Princess did its best—and succeeded—in helping us “come back new.” --musingaboutcruising.blogspot.com

More Than Expected by pamelaj845

This was the longest cruise I'd taken and wasn't sure I'd enjoy being on the ship for 7 days. I can't wait to book again and stay longer. This trip rates as one of my favorite vacations.

great cruise by vernandshirley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We enjoyed all the many things offered to us on this crusie. We picked this trip as a way to just relax with the days at sea and that's what we did RELAXED. We toured once and walked the two cities shopping and enjoying the sites. We ate until we felt like we would bust :)) The weather was wonderful and the service first class. Your shows at night were the best we have seen at sea. Everyone was very plesant and friendly. Our Room Steward, Anthony! Room A601, was the best. He was always ready to go 120 % to provided us with all of our requests. We look foreward to traveling with your line again and have now moved Princess to our number one spot when picking cruise lines. Thank you again for a great trip. Vern & Shirley

Over crowded, but a good cruise by randrini

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess

Captain did a fabulous job of getting us out of Hurricane Lee. We missed 3 ports, but given a $100 obc. Plus $900 for future cruise. Very generous as 2 of the 3 days in Boston were beautiful fall days. The Captain’s wife was charming, a real asset. We were thrilled to miss a hurricane. No rough water. He updated us often. We enjoyed the cruise very much.

First time on Princess by babysharknc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess

Cruise embarkation was officially delayed due to a previous cruise norovirus outbreak. Embarkation went smoothly. Ate lunch in Coral dinning room, it was great. Food in Palm dinning room was great and service was outstanding. Ship was clean and measures kept in place to keep everyone healthy. Buffet was served by staff. Public restrooms constantly being cleaned. Ship is older, but we thought the decor and upkeep were better than most older ships we’ve been on. All ports were visited. Entertainment was ok. We had a wonderful time. Cabin was a mini suite and was very spacious. We had a leak in our ceiling, it was repaired quickly. This was our first Princess cruise. We booked another cruise while on board. We loved not having to sign for our drinks. Medallion worked well, no issues. Highly recommend this ship.

Princess Caribbean by PanamaDee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

It was fantastic! No sales pitches from photographers, about specialty restaurants, drink packages or from the spa, which were still available for anyone who wanted them. The main focus was on service. It was so good to be back on the cruise ship. We appreciated it a lot more this time too!

We had A marvelous time. Princess Cay was a plus especially in the rented bungalow. We could see the ship from the beach or from our bungalow. We could sit inside the bungalow with the air conditioning or ceiling fan, or outside on the porch in the lounge chairs The food was very good.
