My first cruise by biglarrrr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, for my first-ever cruise, it was fantastic. I really can't wait for my next cruise. I would definitely recommend the Princess Caribbean Western as well. It was a beautiful, clean ship and the service, staff, accommodations, food, entertainment and activities were all very good.

I sailed the East/West Caribbean... by PeteMcK

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

I sailed the East/West Caribbean on the Caribbean Princess from 14 -28 July. A quick review : Food - Adequate. Buffet - Small, and limited choices. Entertainment - Amateurish, terrible. Staff - Brilliant. The only saving grace. And why, why, why was there no Caribbean rum on the cruise? A ship named the Caribbean Princess, sailing the Caribbean. That's just ridiculous! Princess cruises, you had your chance, and you blew it.

For those who are cruising... by NMGILBER

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

For those who are cruising or have cruised on the Caribbean Princess and you’ve had a change in itinerary due to propulsion issues, how many ports was your original cruise scheduled for? Also, is it always the first port that gets cancelled? We are scheduled on the July 7th cruise and our ports of call are: Princess Cays, St Thomas and St Maarten. I could care less about missing Princess Cays since it’s a leisurely beach day, but I would be upset to miss St Thomas or St Maarten as we cruised there last March and it’s the reason for our return.

The ship was very clean.... by richdbb53

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

The ship was very clean. My cabin B614 was always clean by cabin steward Helen. The crew was very friendly. The elevators were extremely slow. Sometimes bypassing the buttons or the floors that people were waiting. Getting around the ship otherwise was pretty easy. The food was average at best sometimes reminding me at the buffet it was almost like eating at Denny’s.

Good cruise but St. Thomas excursion by 1TexasCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Shopping and Beach was HORRIBLE. Beach concession was$3.50 for bottle of water. Our old van was dirty and had a number of insects that attacked us, and driver was constantly attempting to catch them by hand as he drove Princess cruise director needs to go to the beach and observe what 6,000 people look like in at a 1,200 Ft beachfront looks like. Poor timing due to several other cruises also pilling on to this tiny beach

Other than the night of July 5, service in the dining room was exceptional. Food was good, not as good as the Regal and Royal however.

A pretty good cruise by JNRichardson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our first cruise was with a small, older ship on Carnival. We did not do our research and suffered the consequences. I picked what seemed to be one of the best of Princess’s ships. The food was fine - nothing spectacular unless you upcharge for the restaraunts. I didn’t feel like this was a ship I would take my kids on and I probably wouldn’t choose this ship again for just my husband and me. There didn’t seem to much tailored to kids at all. There were plenty of food places and entertainment throughout the day and the evening. There were a few pools. But nothing that just really makes me want to go back on that specific ship. The workers are fantastic - there’s always someone taking away used dishes and asking if there’s anything they can help with. I did enjoy most of our ports and the excursions we chose.

I would do it again! by ShannonJB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was great! Very enjoyable. The only complaint would be that one of the servers in our dinning room had a little attitude, and could be rude at times. That was just one person out of the hundreds that were working so hard to make sure our vacation was going well. We watched one of the Movies Under the Stars one night and it was a little windy, the crew brought out blankets for everyone. I did make use of the laundromat on our floor and won't overpack next time!

It is obvious that Princess... by Keyster86

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

It is obvious that Princess spent quite a bit of money for renovations on Caribbean Princess. After our recent cruise it is by far my favorite Princess ship (out of the Star, Ruby, Emerald, Caribbean). Overall I was impressed. She has some unique features or differences in layout that truly set her apart from the others I mentioned above. LOVES: I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Indian food in the World Fresh Marketplace (formerly Horizon Court). The chocolate mouse in the International Cafe and the black tie mousse cake at the buffet were delicious. I love the upgrades to the various eateries (much needed). The Slice (pizza place) has improved their food quality. Also, the upgraded shower head in the shower is much better than the legacy on the Star, Ruby, and Emerald. I am a gambler and loved the larger casino (larger than the ships mentioned above). Appreciate the renovation of the youth programs and subsequent rooms. My daughter really enjoyed herself this time around :). Upgraded TV’s from the above mentioned ships. EHHHHH’S: The location of the cigar lounge (Churchill’s) was off the beaten path. On the other ships it was either attached to or adjacent to the casino. When eating at World Fresh Marketplace Finding a seat indoors during lunch or dinner time is a struggle. Not the end of the world as you can find a seat outdoors but it can be pretty hot outside in those areas. The dining service in the buffet and on pool decks lacked that of other Princess ships we’ve been on. Quite a few of us just took it upon ourselves to get our own water, or iced tea at the drink station. The overall vibe on Caribbean Princess was much better than on the other Princess cruises we’ve been on. The Ruby to Cabo San Lucas would be next. It’s hard for me not to enjoy a vacation (unless it’s truly horrible) and am pretty easy going in terms of service demands, etc. With that said, some may find that my comments make them want to shy away from the Caribbean Princess but I really did enjoy it and would go again in a heartbeat. Excursion recommendation - venture over to the BVI. After reading many articles on how gorgeous the BVI are compared to the USVI we didn’t make it over to the BVI. However, I talked to some guests on the cruise who spent quite a bit of time there on other vacations and they confirmed that they’re much nicer than the US. I truly regret not making it a priority to go to the British side.

Relaxing getaway by ooberman8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Great cruise. Three of us shared a mini suite and had plenty of room and personal space. Only complaint about the room was the grimy glass on our balcony. I ended up washing off the salt and grime myself. Then we could sit in our chairs and watch the world go by without obstruction. ( I did ask our cabin steward but he just wiped down the railing) Embarkation was extremely easy. We were scheduled to board at 1:00, but were able to at 11:30 with no problem. Food was terrific. Our only disappointing meal was at the Crown Grill. We had 8:00 reservations and were seated right on time. However our waiter was slammed so our time there was extraordinarily long. By the time our main courses arrived, we were not hungry anymore. We did not leave until after 10:30 and it was not due to us ordering a lot. Sabatini's is well worth the extra money. Food and service was spectacular. MDR was consistenly good and the buffet had plenty of choices. Crooners Bar and the Bar at the Aft pool were fun places to be. The bartenders are very personable and the drinks were yummy. At Princess Cays we took the bicycle tour of the island. It was ok once you got going. In St Thomas we did the snorkeling trip on the Castaway Girl. Stopped at sea turtle cove and at a shipwreck. It was a lot of fun and I would highly recommend this. In St Martin we did the Flying Dutchman Zip line. That was fantastic and worth the money. Disembarkation was very smooth. All in all a wonderful trip.

The Coral Dining room was... by Bethtopher

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

The Coral Dining room was the best place to eat on the ship. Ivan, the head waiter, was excellent at making sure my dietary needs were met & the food exceeded my expectations. He was always friendly & helpful when needing explanation of unfamiliar dishes. The chef's choice for dessert was always a yummy surprise. Totally 5+ stars! On the flip side, the BBQ place was absolutely horrible! I think the name of it was Planks BBQ. It had a cover charge and not only was the food barely to not at all edible, but the customer service was extremely disappointing. We had to wait almost 2 hours for our food, and that was after having a 2 day advance reservation! Never waist your extra money or your time going there. Save your stomach and go eat at the World Market (which is like buffet all the time), or the Coral Dining Room. The World Market was good since there were tons of different yummy options and whatnot, but since I have special dietary needs, buffets are a little tricky. Skywalkers was a beautiful night club, but they did not keep it cool enough in there and the dance floor was not large enough for everyone that wanted to dance, which made us all sort of take turns dancing if you know what I mean. The entrance to Skywalkers was really awesome though. Very well done. I'd give it a 4 overall. The entertainment was amazing overall. I would give it a 4.5. There was only 1 show all week that disappointed me (so not too shabby). AJ, the piano man, was absolutely the best entertainment at night. I'd give his performance a 5. There were many different types of entertainment in the Piazza throughout the week and almost all of it was really good. There was usually 1-2 main shows at night, and several other options for entertainment. There sometimes when I wanted to be 2 places at the same time. Most of the entertainment, whichever type we chose, was really good. The Lotus Spa was fabulous! If you need to relax, get a spa treatment. I got 3 treatments and the only one that disappointed me was the pedicure. The lady I had let me leave before the polish was dried so within a few minutes it was messed up. The messages were absolutely amazing! The ladies were both helpful in giving relaxation tips and how to better take care of my skin ideas. So sweet. Our room steward, Jovito, was always friendly, smiling, and kept our room looking beautiful. The only disappointment in this was that on my Royal Caribbean Cruise I got little towel animals & napkins that were folded in cute unique ways, but on Caribbean Princess we just got 1 chocolate on our pillow every night. Granted, love the chocolate, but it's hard to beat awesome animal towels. One of the biggest issues was that Princess does not give you the entire weeks schedule for you to create your itinerary all at once. They give you 1 day itinerary at a time, the night before. So, for making advanced plans we had several overlapping problems simply because Princess refused to tell us the schedule. Not wise at all. Very frustrating throughout the week, and some things we couldn't rearrange, which disappointed us. Huge 1 star to that. Overall I would rank the Caribbean Princess 3 stars because although they have some aspects 4-5 stars, there are also aspects that are 1-2 stars.
