Traveling on Princess is always a treat by colettesmedley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Cruise itself was great.  Weather was sensational.  We were a little early for the leaves changing color ... but still enjoyed a fabulous time and met a number of wonderful people.  First time booking through American Airlines Cruises, but we fly American Airlines (before merger) and so decided "Why not?"  Booking was easy and at a savings.

Great Itinerary by krushewsky

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

Unlike most repositioning cruises, this cruise was not a great bargain price wise.

It was sold out almost immediately, which drove the price up.  We were glad we booked it in a mini suite category. As weather did not permit a lot of outside time, and the public areas of the ship were always packed, we found we spent more time than usual in our stateroom.

We found the theatre entertainment atrocious, and after watching for a few minutes from the back of the "way.....too.....hot...." theatre, didn't even bother with any of the productions.  Honestly, the worst I have ever encountered on any cruise ship, especially Princess.  However, the lounge entertainment was good, and Tommy McPhee put on a consistently good show just about every evening in Crooners.

The itinerary was great, and we actually got to see the Northern Lights in Iceland. As there was a storm off the coast of Newfoundland, we did not get to stop at St. John but went directly to Halifax, so our 4 consecutive days at sea turned to 6.  Thankfully, the seas were in our favor once we left Iceland, and the only rough day was our first day at sea in the North Sea, which I understand is pretty common.

As always, the food on Princess was very good, and the staff in all areas of the ship were accommodating.  We'll always return to Princess. I understand the Caribbean Princess is to have a facelift.  As she's one of my favorite ships I'm happy to hear it.  Like the rest of us.....she's starting to show her age a bit.....

Terrible experience, by ArisStambolian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This was our 87 sailing. the last two sailings we had a issue with the dining arrangement..

My wife suffers from sever claustrophobia, she must seat by window. Provided letter from the Doctor to Head Waiter. but Head Waiter nor his boss did not do anything to accommodate. Ask Pursers office, but they were unable to do anything either, were refereed back to the dining room

We were UNABLE  to use Dining room. We dined in cabin all the time, DUE TO Unwillingness to accommodate to needy person.

After all we travel for enjoyment NOT to be miserable.

SINCE PRINCESS IS UNWILLING TO COOPERATE, WE DECIDED TO CANCEL ALL OUR BOOKING WITH PRINCESS.

Terrible experience, not recommended FOR  ONE WITH DISABILITY!!!!

Princess 15 Night North Cape by brookstc441

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Overall, a very good cruise with a very nice itinerary. Princess has been our favorite cruise line up to this point. That is probably still  the case, but it did move down a notch this time. Caribbean Princess is not as nice as the other Princess ships we have sailed on; but we chose this cruise because of the itinerary. We would do it again, although in the future I will try to select ships other than the Caribbean Princess. There was a general lack of communication between staff and passengers; for example, it was communicated ahead of time that there would be one tender port. After the cruise was in progress, we found out that there were 3 tender ports. And there were never any announcements about where the ship was and what we were passing; for example, no announcement when we sailed past the North Cape. We heard a lot of grumbling on the ship about the lack of communication. But the staff we personally encountered were all very nice and friendly, so no complaints there. We liked the ports; only complaint there was that Princess took Geiranger off the itinerary for this cruise, which almost resulted in us not taking this particular cruise.

A Very Good 14 Day Cruise (With Some Bumps) by CrusinTim

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

The Cons: Ship is showing her age a bit but is scheduled for drydock in 2016. Ship ran out of cabin blankets after passing south of Bermuda, Really? On a T/A cruise in April/May? And it was cold the closer we got to the U.K. Although not under the control of Princess, embarkation in Port Everglades was a disaster. My wife had to board via wheelchair and the port works on the "Honor System" to board wheelchair passengers. No number system or sign-up sheet. Waited 1 hour before being able to board. Buffet onboard was hit or miss (yet was more miss). If you pre-pay gratuities, they will show as an OBC (Credit) to your cabin where $11.50 will be deducted per day from that credit. Make sure to factor this into your budget. Mattresses in cabins need replacement. We needed to order foam egg crates to put on top of the mattress. Slots in Casino VERY loose, I won $1155 in one day on the penny slots and many others were hitting as well. Not enough seats in Princess Theater to allow passengers to see shows unless you got there 1 hour prior. We missed many of the shows because we had early seating in the dining room and those with late seating would always fill the seats before we could get there.

The Pro's: Ship was always being cleaned and maintained. The ship handled the Atlantic very well with hardly any movement in 7-14 foot seas. We had arranged seating in the Palms dining room and the meals were pretty darn good and presented well. Service and crew in general always smiling and pleasant. Cabin (R611) was basic size. There was a major price drop 2 months prior to sailing and Princess honored the change and upgraded us from an outside, obstructed view cabin to a balcony. Not many lines will do that after final payment is made.

Atlantic Crossing by vilasi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

It was a great value for the $. The Ship is big enough to make the crossing enjoyable and smooth. The change in stops due to bad weather was made as easy as possible for those with tours. For us the change enabled us to see a country we had never been to before. The Sea days enabled us to relax with out feeling we missed something. It was the first time in years that I slept past 9am. Looking forward to our next Crossing.

More Than Expected by pamelaj845

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

This was the longest cruise I'd taken and wasn't sure I'd enjoy being on the ship for 7 days. I can't wait to book again and stay longer. This trip rates as one of my favorite vacations.

First tme cruier by kathyp116

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

Good time.  Do not have anything to compare this cruise but I will tell you how we felt about our experience.  Had a balcony room that was very nice, actually it was larger than I expected.  There was plenty of room to hang clothes and drawer space for all the clothes we brought.  Piece of advice pack light, you don't need that much.  Formal night, you will see everything from dressy casual to beads and sequence. It is nice to get dressed up and have your formal picture taken.  The shows were ok.  Nothing special to talk about. The cruise director Paul was outstanding, he should do standup comedy, he was so funny. There was trivia going on all the time, we met some real nice people there.   The food was good but here again nothing that stood out.  Service was very good, there was someone right there to take care of anything you could possible want or need.  The movie under the stars was an enjoyable evening, as was the captain's dinner and champagne toast.  The champagne tower was beautiful and made for some great pictures.  It was a cruise you could do as little as you wanted or as much.  There was something for everyone. We did traditional dinning, next time around I would do anytime dinning, more opportunity to meet other  people.  The ship is older but still very clean and well taken care of.  Embankment took about an hour but our luggage arrived within minutes of finding our cabin.  Leaving the ship we were off within 30 minutes very smooth and organized.  All in all we had a wonderful time.  Would cruise again and with Princess.

April 11 Princess Cruse Experience by lucymanuntag53

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Ship sailed smoothly, well organized embarkment and disembarking. Enjoyed the shows at night. My grandson was happy being in the Fun Zone. Good and services at the Island dining room was excellent. Food at the Crown Grill was superb. At the    Horizon Dining room, the service was ok but it needs lot of improvement. Some waiters don't have customer service. Our cabin crew housekeeper Sabino was excellent. He made sure that we are looked after, very polite and helpful.

Amazing Crew, Amazing Food, Amazing time! by ekslp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My mom and I cruised together--we were in an interior stateroom, and this was perfectly fine--plenty big for two people! Crew went above and beyond in all ways possible. I truly believe the food is the best I've ever had, whether at sit down spots or buffet. Don't get us started on the desserts!

Great memories :) by nnorman226

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our stateroom suite, with balcony and a "real" sized bathroom, has spoiled us forever. The ship, over-all, had a lot to offer, although not much geared for young travelers, of which we had none with us; so, that choice was intentional on our behalf. The staff was wonderful.

Very good! by keweeltp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Buffet and poolside food was better than our last cruise (Carnival), and dinner/service in the dining room was great - one small disappointment was that surf & turf is not offered on 5-night cruises.  Fast and efficient dinner service.  Good selection.  We took advantage of the adult beverage package which we thought was reasonably priced.  Very nice and large fitness center.  Our mini-suite with balcony was AWESOME.  Our steward was very friendly and efficient, however I did miss the towels folded like little animals (Carnival)!  Bars and poolside drink service was not quite as friendly and quick as I remember from Carnival.  No one was UNfriendly, by any means, however on past cruises it seems like we had the same waiters poolside every day and they knew our names on Day 1 plus came around more frequently to take orders.  Fun activities and contests, hosts were very entertaining.   Good selection of in-room and big screen movies.  We had good weather every day.  The ship was very well-maintained and clean.  Scheduling of shows in the Princess Theater (comedy and magic shows) kind of conflicted with dinner times.   Lots of photo opportunities - the photo package is a good deal.  Long lines for photos some nights.  Wide range of ages, not many little kids, but the kids there did seem to be having fun!

Spa terrific Cruise by babet1008

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a wonderful time on this getaway!  The accommodations were adequate, very clean, well maintained.  The staff throughout was courteous and helpful.  We joined the thermal spa for our entire experience and loved it!  To add to the experience we bought the rasoul package, not quite sure what it was about and had lots of fun doing body masks and steam room in our private spa.  I would recommend this be presented clearer because it was great!   Our one disappointment was that the wine ordered at dinner was kept for the next dinner and it seemed to be lost (and eventually found after 1/2 hr or so later each evening). We were part of the anytime dining in the Island or Coral dining room.  Loved the theater under the stars! but last night movie no blankets, why? Great movie choices, good sound quality, popcorn a plus.  Love

Great Get Away by gingervannucci

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My daughters and I just wanted to go on a short cruise for a couple days.  Never went on Princess line before.  It was a smaller ship compared to others and therefore we felt the movement a lot more than I had ever felt before.  The food was excellent and the service,  The shows were good but I have see more elaborate productions on others.  I do enjoy cruising no matter what, its a deal to travel this way with everything taken care of ahead of time.

Good Ship Lollifun by SeaZephyrrr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Loved the friendly vibe and vivacious fellow travelers. The service was excellent, and the bedding has been upgraded since our last cruise on Princess (a number of years ago), and is very comfortable, including two wonderful soft squishy pillows on each bed and soft linens. The ship is clean and has many attractive spaces, including our balcony cabin. We thought the food was just OK, except for formal night when everything was really delicious. Also note, the swimming pool and Sanctuary are not accessible for those with mobility issues. Princess needs to upgrade in this area.

Caribbean Princess Experience by khill

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, the cruise was great - fun and relaxing, just what we wanted.  However, there were a few things that we noticed...in every Ladies Room aboard ship, at least 1 or more stalls were closed for service...one was flooded! This created a backup, especially at the ones by the dining rooms.  They decided to close one shop and build another one in the middle of the cruise - so banging, hammering, seemed to be everywhere...the entertainment was a little weak too - a magician and a comedian.  Just expected a bigger show..food was great and so was the service...we missed having the fun little towel animals on the bed!
