A fine ship, with lots of activities and entertainment. Larger crowds and more lines than I previously encountered on other ships. Sea conditions were choppy (especially on the way south). This translated into a constant slow roll of the ship (Dramamine, etc).

Make dining reservations in advance. If you opt for the "my time" you will be waiting in long lines for every meal (other than the Windjammer buffet)

Pay attention to the compass. Great information for every day use. Explore the ship completely. It's great.

I loved the fact it was a smaller and more personable ship than the mega ships. We kept running into the same groups of people and felt we got to know them a little bit.

There is a helicopter pad on the front of deck 5. Great views when leaving port. Even better views when going under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge around 6pm.

Bring Dramamine. I was told that I would never know I was on a ship -- but for three evenings the ship rocked so much that I was ill. Plan enough time to wait at the elevators. They had a mind of their own. Empty elevators would zip by and turn off the call lights were we were waiting as they did. My roommate had a scooter. More than once we stood waiting to get on an elevator for over 30 minutes -- when they did stop, passengers who had just walked up would file into the elevator in front of us and not leave room. Several times an elevator stalled and sounded a signal that it was overloaded and the idiots who had just gotten on wouldn't get off.

This was our third cruise. The last day of the cruise the ship rocked terribly and a lot of the passengers were complaining. If this would have been my first cruise I may have never went on another one. We haven’t experienced this before so the last 36 hours or so it was really bad and we started to feel sick.

The smoking area is to the left of the pool on deck 11 if you are looking toward the pool bar, so avoid that side if you are sensitive to smoke. You can also avoid smoke by going to shows in the evening and steering clear of the casino.

I personally don't think I would ever sail on Brilliance of the Sea again, the ship seemed to be geared towards older people and I am 56.

If you are a little introverted, it is worth spending the extra money for a balcony stateroom. The BOGO deal for the specialty restaurants was totally worth it, as well as the non-alcoholic beverage packet.
