Review summary

The purpose of my vacation wasn't necessarily the destination -- it was the entertainment. I was more than pleased with the entertainment as well as activities provided. Again, my only disappointment was that I didn't get my toes in the sand.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Our plane didn't arrive early enough that we were involved in the huge line to board the ship. Therefore, we cruised right through the embarkation. HOWEVER, we had traveled all day with no time between flights to eat so when we got on board, we were starving. I understand a training meeting was necessary, especially for first-timers, but we needed to rest a minute and eat. Also, we had to stand in one place in that meeting on the deck and the old folk's backs cannot do that.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Buffets were crowded but delicious. The main dining room was amazing. Deeraj and Anthony were very attentive waiters and I have only the highest praise. The ship was rocking for three nights and on one of those I was so sick I couldn't eat. These two, Deeraj and Anthony, bent over backwards to try to provide something to settle my stomach and get something in there. I have only one suggestion and it is by no means a complaint -- On a Southern cruise, it would have been nice if the Chef had provided Southern Sawmill gravy and buttermilk biscuits for breakfast. Biscuits and gravy were provided; but they were not good -- not Southern gravy.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My main activities were attending the concerts and sitting on the balcony in the afternoons journaling my trip. I thoroughly enjoyed my balcony. It was my first cruise ever and if I cruise again, I will have a balcony.

Entertainment

I did go to the pool for the 10:00 movie but every time there was a concert also playing at the time of the movie. Yes, the captions for the hearing impaired were on the movie screen but were hard to see from everywhere in the pool area. I think you should plan one or the other but not both. Movie or concert. And I had really looked forward to a couple of those movies -- had been waiting on them to hit DVD.

Pacifica Theatre

5 out of 5

Not just the Pacifica but ALL the Southern Gospel Singing Convention entertainers were beyond amazing. Thank you so much.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The waiters, the room people, all the wait staff, all personnel were wonderful. Everyone was very nice and spoke and cut up and were real friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I found nothing on the ship that wasn't clean. I was very impressed with the level of attention given to this area. There was peeling and chipping paint and rust on my balcony.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I loved it. It was, however, very very small to have had to keep a scooter in. Had we needed two scooters, we would have been in trouble! We already had to move the sofa table to make room to walk through. I like a softer bed but I slept very well. The hard bed did bruise both my hips. I would like to complain about only having two plugs in the entire room. With today's technology and needing one of the plugs for my roomie's scooter, there wasn't sufficient space to plug in the electronics, hair dryers, etc. We had been told there would be an extension cord provided but we had to call and ask for it.

Ship tip

Bring Dramamine. I was told that I would never know I was on a ship -- but for three evenings the ship rocked so much that I was ill. Plan enough time to wait at the elevators. They had a mind of their own. Empty elevators would zip by and turn off the call lights were we were waiting as they did. My roommate had a scooter. More than once we stood waiting to get on an elevator for over 30 minutes -- when they did stop, passengers who had just walked up would file into the elevator in front of us and not leave room. Several times an elevator stalled and sounded a signal that it was overloaded and the idiots who had just gotten on wouldn't get off.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

5 out of 5
Didn't see much of the port. Took a taxi to and from the airport that dropped us off and picked us up right outside the check-in/check-out.

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Wonderful day of shopping. Beautiful little town at the port. Did not do an excursion. They were kinda pricey.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
I liked that there was shopping at the pier. I had wanted to walk on a beach but there were none available outside of an expensive excursion. Very disappointed about that. The excursions were way too expensive. I only wished to sit on a beach.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very organized except very crowded. Perhaps instead of having everyone come down so early, they should wait in their rooms until their numbers are called for disembarkation. Once again, my roommate nor myself was able to stand for the time required.
