Fun Cruise by Cruiser11833384

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

. Two years ago I went on a river cruise in Europe on the Danube but this was my first big ship cruise. I really enjoyed my cruise to Cozumel. There were lots of fun activities aboard the ship. If you wanted to do something there was a wide variety to choose from classical music to disco dancing; from comedians to quiz games; from cocktails to coffee....you name it! The staff was friendly and helpful. I especially loved our on-land adventure in Cozumel - swimming with dolphins! I would recommend this trip!

Owner suite smaller than any we have been in. Ship is showing its age. Dinning was just average except for Chops which was outstanding. Service personnel were outstanding. Bottom line we have had much better cruising experience. Wine selection in the concierge lounge wasn't as good as previous cruises. BUT the concierge personnel worked to make it better.

Cruise vaca by natehansen83

Overall, had an amazing experience on the cruise. My buddies and I take a trip every year and this one was pretty epic. Staff was great, especially one of the bartenders at the pool. Never caught his first name but his last name was Mccloud (I think the spellings right). Anyhow, he was amazing at his job and in my opinion a stellar employee. Our trip was fantastic, I even won the belly flop contest. All in all, top notch job and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Food No So Great by INDCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food was not up to the standard set on other Royal ships.  We felt the variety in both the Windjammer and on the evening menu was limited. For example, shrimp cocktail was offered only one evening. No filets or lobster tails.  Baked beans every day for breakfast?  The hot tubs were little more than warm. The ship was very clean and the crew was very friendly and attentive.

Great service by iridan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Service was excellent. The ports of call as expected. The shore excursion team very helpful in getting us out of trouble when missed an excursion by 15min, but more so the explora mexico crew who went out of their way to come and get us back on track. The food was so so, "lacking variety, the pool was small, adventure ocean for children was amazing my 5year d asked to go multiple times a day.

Experience by fcproctor

Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My room was not the room I paid for and no other was available according to customer service.  I made reservation over 10 months prior and there were plenty of rooms to chose from.  I was an obstructive view and asked for an unobstructI've view.  service over all was Google services in dining room was excellent food overall was fair.  price of cruise was fair had I had the room I requested when booked. drinks were way over priced.getting on and off ship was efficient.  casino was good but craps odds should have been better. overall cruise was fair to good would I cruise with your company again....maybe

Cruise was ok, maar heeft iets heel anders gezegd dan die geboekt hebben. Heel ontgoocheld in je company. by odileke

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was good, only, I called your company for almost an hour to talk about the wrong room you gave us. We payed more for the room to have a better location of the room and gave, what the man on the phone told us.  We got the 3th floor, second last one all the way in the back of the ship.  On the phone, the person told us that Royal Carebbean was the one that put the rooms, also your manager lied us about it.  We talked to RC on the ship and they said that SURELY you guys gave us this awful room.  Very very sad.  We booked so many times with you, and if nothing will be done by , we will SURELY not book with you ever again and spread the word...

Poor house keeping service. by dancerk25BEN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Favorite part was 3 days of Karaoke although Karaoke was advertised as every day.  Worlds sexiest man was a good diversion.  Most but not all crew was friendly  and helpful.  Signs showing which way was to the front of the ship.  Other signs would have been useful.

The Takeaway: A Mixed Bag by Reggie293

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

Our experience was mixed. At first, there was a mix-up in table assignment (a table for 12 instead of a table for 2) resolved after a few days we think by the intervention of our travel agent. Once that was resolved, the main dining room wait staff made all the difference in our dining experience. Very professional and personable crew members. A joy to encounter.

Our stateroom attendant was a very hard worker and also personable.

Suggestion: Add three seconds to the timing of elevator door openings. Lunging for elevators is not a fun activity.

Our trip was marred by the fact we both got very bad colds: I got it three days in and it stayed. I found only one over-the-counter allergy product in the shops. My husband later bought other cough drugs at the Medical Facility. Since they didn't help, I saw the doctor for an antibiotic. I'm filing an insurance claim for $408 for my care, which will take weeks to resolve. My husband's cold started later. (He n-e-v-e-r gets colds.) This interfered with our ability to taste food or wine, take yoga classes and sleep. We encountered sick people everywhere on board.

Although dining room food was beautifully presented and varied, room service and Windjammer food paled by comparison. Scrambled eggs and yogurt were inedible. Bacon was often served under-cooked and eggs overcooked. Coffee was great in the dining room and terrible elsewhere.

On a positive note: We loved the Phoenix classical music group, especially on the Centrum stage in the atrium. The theater offerings we attended were very good. Clo was a terrific social director. Venues are lovely, particularly the Solarium (and Park Cafe). Relaxing on deck chairs was bliss.

Good Smooth time to relax by lprtex

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

I always enjoy a smooth Atlantic crossing and even when the ocean is rough.  It gives me great peace to be in the such a beautiful place.

The food quality was lacking yet I did enjoy the very good Indian dishes on this ship.

Good overall but some unexpected deficiencies by edcustodio

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

My favorite part of trip was the people (fellow pasengers and service workers ).  Dislikes, Running out of food, dinning area with tables sow close that was dificult for passengers to be comstable and service people to perform their jobs. Food was not representative of RCCL customary exceptional quality.

We need to.also thanks the staff for recognizing all veterans (my wife and I, we but veterans) we appreciate and a good amount of veterans from a multiple number of countries in this trip. Job well done.

good cruise by BuzzA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

Best part of the cruise were the ports. Also, the ship looked good, fresh paint ,etc. The wifi is terrible. It is slow and hard to log on. I even paid for the upgraded wifi. I was also using updated and new iPhones and iPads. I was able to get a refund because of the poor service but still would like to have had access. Boarding in Barcelona was easy and timely. Leaving in Tampa was easy and quick but the lines outside for busses, taxis and other transport were impossible. Took over an hour and a half to get picked up by rental car company because of all the confusion and crowds.

Great itinerary by MDNana

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe

Wonderful excursions offered at ports.   Many early morning departures for excursions so it is a busy schedule with much to see.  Spend additional days in Barcelona, a fabulously friendly city with lots to see.

thought the overall trip was lacking in some things, the food could have been better.........  general talk around the ship was the same, staff work hard but

didn't have the usual happy feeling.

also having to pay for the shuttles at most ports is bad.................

Beautiful ship, and trip but disappointing food and entertainment. by emlz9393

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We sailed on this ship for a 12 day Mediterrain cruise from Barcelona to France, Italy, Croatia and Montenegro. The decor of this ship was absolutely amazing plus the lay-out permitted passengers to easily navigate their way around. The itinerary was excellent-staying in Venice was a big bonus -except that many ports of call required buying a shuttle ticket to enter the city or town we were visiting.

We were very disappointed with the variety of food served in the buffet and dining room. The Windjammer served the same buffet choices every day-or similar dishes and changed he name cards on the dish labels. The main dining room rotated a 4 day menu and charged extra for lobster on Formal nights..what a let-down!

The entertainment was less interesting plus varied than expected. There were two production shows which contained more singing (screaming) than dancing. Other shows consisted of a pianist, juggler, singer and a hypnotist -who only did one show on one evening. We expected much more variety than we received on a 12 day cruise.

Our final disappointment was that they refused to return our VAT ( European taxes which are rebated to non-European tourists) explaining that we purchased our tickets in the USA so, we weren't charged the extra tax. We know that, that is fiction as we've taken other cruises out of Barcelona with tickets that were purchased by US travel agents and have had our VAT returned in cash on board.

All in all, this was a good cruise due to its itinerary and fellow passengers who made the experience worth the value.

Better Than Most by rbchoate

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

What a lovely surprise! This was a trip planned with 20 other relatives. We were able to keep close and really enjoyed evening meals in the main dining room (Minstrel). The facilities were clean and up to date. The staff members were fabulous. It was obvious that they were trained to work for the customer and not the company!!

Beautiful Ship by tarheelsue

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe

The ship was beautiful and kept very clean. We loved the ports of call, although due to limited mobility, we were unable to disembark at most places. The food and service in the main dining room was excellent. Even though we opted for My Time Dining, we were seated at one of two waiters' sections each evening. The staff made sure we did not have to walk far to our table. The food in the Windjammer Cafe was good, although not exceptional. We enjoyed breakfast at the Park Cafe as well.

Entertainment: We did not attend any of the production shows in the theater. We did see one movie in the cinema which was very small and intimate. The nightly entertainment in the Centrum was very good, especially the 70"s Disco Inferno and the Night of Jazz. We also listened to the group Soul Inspiration, and enjoyed their music and song choices very much.

I had reserved and paid for 3 shore excursions which were advertised as being in the "mild" category as far as activity required. The excursion to St. Peter's Square, however, required a lot more walking than my husband was comfortable with. The part of the tour on the bus was very nice, the tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable but the walking as far as distance and ease was totally misrepresented by the written description and by the staff at the Shore Excursion Desk. Upon our return I cancelled the remaining 2 excursions because I couldn't be sure my husband would be able to participate due to his level of fatigue.

Our cabin was comfortable and clean with plenty of storage, hangers in the closet and lots of room.
