Everything worth doing needs to be pre-booked. We booked this cruise 7 months prior to sailing and it wouldn't let us book some things even then. As soon as you get on the ship, head to Boleros on Deck 5 and see the staff and book the Northstar, the skydiving, your show timings, etc...

Each bar has diffferent beer choices. If there is a certain brew you prefer, be sure to locate it at which bar. It was an older crowd.

Make sure to check your cruise planner EVERY DAY! It has a lot of information on it and all the times for every show and event.

Book your dining early. Book any excursions early. Even though the ship seems small, there are 4,900 people vying for those precious spots.

This was my first time on a cruise ship. Everything was great except that there were too many kids running around the ship.

Find out the type of promotion the cruise line is offering. If it's CHILDREN FOR FREE and you want to relax, chose another cruise line.

Definitely book the All Access Tour if available. Well worth it! There's plenty of room on the Anthem to find your little private spot. Ours was in Two70 near the library overlooking the seats and stage. We even saw a wedding in action while there! Try at least one specialty dinner. We did Jaimie's Italian and were very impressed. Excellent fitness center. Would recommend booking any outdoor activities (FlowRider, North Star, RipCord during the cruise when it was warmer further down south. Ours happen to be closer towards the north when it was pretty cold from the "Bomb Cyclone" along the east coast. I don't work for Costco Travel but they seem to have quite a few additional benefits (free specialty dining, free soda, free Johnny Rockets, $50 onboard credit, $100+ Costco gift card, etc). Might be worth a look.

Upon first boarding the ship on day 1 it seems crowded as people mill about slowly dragging their carry on luggage but once cabins open up and people settle down the crowds become much better. Find a venue to relax in and let the crowds disperse instead of trying to explore the whole ship the moment you board. Hint - Two70 after on deck 5 is a great to relax. If you weren't able to make iFly or North Star reservations before sailing visit Boleros upon boarding to do so.

follow every precaution for sanitizing to avoid norovirus which I believe is present at all times, be prepared to deal with parents that do not watch their kids and even bring them into adult only areas. Ask about restaurants and my time dinning so that you are fully aware of where you can eat besides the Windjammer where it is a little chaotic. The most important thing is to take advantage of as many things that the ship has to offer as The Anthem is a beautiful ship and the staff everywhere aim to please to make sure you have a great time.

Definitely book any shows, excursion or specialty dinner reservations ahead of time. Also, check the Cruise Compass often to stay abreast of the activities of the day.

Be sure to book your dining, available shows and activities about 90 days in advance. You can always adjust dinner times if necessary on the ship.
