Review summary

I really feel they shove shopping down your throat. The esplanade was ambushed daily with so called deals and steals. And in the presentations about the islands, they never talk about local goods and supporting the business. Diamonds and tanzanite were the top two on their list followed by sheets.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was excellent. Long line to drop off luggage but that's to be expected. Due to the status of our friends, we will able to check in at the Emerald level. The gentleman who checked me in was efficient and polite. Easiest access on the ship the group has ever experienced.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I don't think you can ever go wrong with the number of choices on a cruise. My slightest complaint was the lack of healthy snacks to be offered in the evening hours. Cookies and pizza were the only options at 11pm. I did manage to take fruit from the buffet for later consumption. Our wait staff at the My Time Dinner hour were above and beyond. They were personal, upbeat, and their service was excellent. We developed a bond with them and wished them the best. The chefs, waiters, waitresses, and all kitchen staff work so hard to make our tummies happy.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
I enjoyed the track around the ship as well as the gym. I managed to use the Rock wall and Seaplex for recreational activities. I thought the rockwall and flowrider would be open at all times. I was disappointed they weren't. The hours didn't meet my schedule. I have been on other cruises were there are activities 24 hours. I felt there weren't enough activities to keep us occupied. Especially the 3 days going out and coming home.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Stage shows were good. I enjoyed the singing during the Gift but didn't believe the plot of the story. I enjoyed the comedians and entertainers, especially the violinist. I was surprised the shows only lasted for 40 minutes. I would have expected longer.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Kitchen, dinner, Windjammer staff.......were a 10. Desk staff, 6. Dennis Charles was the cruise director. The only time I saw him was when he introduced the entertainment and at the belly flop tournament. My biggest complaint was the customer service. We are a dancing group. We were kicked off a floor btw ball room dancing which went over the time limit and before Bingo that kicked us off before the scheduled time on the daily sheet. We asked for confirmation to use a dance floor in Cafe 270. The woman said she would leave us a message confirming if we could or could not use the area. No call was made, no messsage was left. We were able to use the floor on our own merrit. I was saddeened by the customer service. Same goes for the unboard credit. I had filled out the application before leaving but did not recieve it. I was ok with it because I was told to keep receipts and send them in after. The service agent said he would call, but he never did. Some people went out of their way, others just avoided the requests.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Always clean. I found it easy to manuever around the ship, but I am an explorer and like exercise.

Cabin / Stateroom

Desmond was my room liason. He was fantastic. I was surprised by the pillow animals. I made it easy for him to do his job. His smile started my day and frequent greetings were appreciated. No complaints about the room.

Ship tip

Each bar has diffferent beer choices. If there is a certain brew you prefer, be sure to locate it at which bar. It was an older crowd.

Enjoyed this island the most. I did zipline on this island. It was a lovely hour boat ride to our destination and back. The staff at the zipline were efficient at their job.

Bridgetown, Barbados

There were shuttles to the pier for shopping and it was safely covered.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

What time did you arrive at the port for embarkation? We’re sailing in 10 days and would like to avoid the line up at the pier as we have 3 kids with us.

Thank you for posting. We will be going on our first cruise in August and am looking for hints and tips from the more experienced cruisers.
