don't think i will be taking a cruise on the amsterdam again . i will cruise on HALLOND AMERICA again love
the fine dinning experience wish they had reasonable price on drink package
Embarkation
5 out of 5
i was pleased with the short time it took to board get right to my room and then up toget some lunch that was great
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
the main dinning room was nice i asked for a table alone by the window or with a view sat me perfectly so i
could see out several dirty windows that never got cleaned . other than that everything was great the waiters
remembered my name and drink always askedhow my day was took the time to talk .
the buffet was sad no fresh fruit no fresh vegies theres 2 side of the buffet 1 side the ice machine was broke the other side the icetea machine was broke never fixed it 2 wks the only rest room near the buffet was down for a wk
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
other then 2 pools and a small casino 2 tables and a hand full of tight slots was not much on boat activities
subpar entertainment show at night
Entertainment
3 out of 5
no bands or djs by the pool or night clubs for the most part very quite the sports bar was sad 1 big screen tv
1 channel poor reception then the shops would take over the area for the sales on jewelry
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
most of the staff were on the boat for the first time almost all were new to the ship or working on a crew
ship most spoke little english ,and would gather with other crew in groups and talk in their language ignoring
passengers
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
the ship is old and in need of complete overhaul awful smells coming from some areas around the elevators
old deck chairs stained no pads wobbling tables and chairs stale humid air around main pool elevators only about half work at any one time stuck on floors or just out of use at bad times when use was heaviest had to use stairs the cruise was a scenic cruise of picturesque glaciers a mountainous areas the forward areas were
larger enough but few chairs or services of any kind no cover from the weather or wind only a small bar
not enough room for more then maybe a hundred
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
the cabin was big lots of storage room steward . RIO was great did everything he was supposed to make my room .in room services was ok needs a better menu not much on it . only thing that was not good was a
diesel fuel smell in my room when we stopped at ports and no clock to tell what time it is
Ship tip
definitely use fine dinning at all times if possible the dress code is casual just no sunning attire , pinnacle grill
go early on in the cruise like first or second day enjoy a great meal
a lot of fun great looking western style old town lot to see lots to do by far the best port.
i waked in to town or rode a free bus at every port if all you want to do is walk around and see the shops
its great if you want to their are cabs to take you on a private tour also most of the time cheaper
the big port big city kind of lol lots of thing going on in city at one time saw the aurora lights show shopped for gifts came across BALTO a statue of a famous sled dog that saved the city from the smallpox virus . but somehow the town forgot about him not much in fact very little about him grabbed a share ride tour to see the earthquake sites
I think I got the dup messages cleared. My question was what did you not like? I liked the ship and staff but not so much the other passengers. I met nice people but many were grumpy.
