Not kid friendly by mdar508

We were a party of 11 (7 adults, 2 six yr olds, 1 1/2 & 7 mos old). Even though the ship was beautiful and most of the service was good, the way the infants were treated put a damper on everyone's vacation. It is obvious the 7 month old and the 1 1/2 yr old could not utilize any of the services available, but they were charged the same fare as an adult plus the gratuities. They were not even allowed to put their feet in the pool water to cool off. So basically they were charged for breathing the air in the ship. Why not have a little kiddie section just for infants so they can sit and splash in the water and have fun? And why not charge them a percentage of the cost or no charge at all if under 1 or 2? They got nothing at all out of the trip except added cost.

Another incident that did not go over well was when the 6 yr old was playing the kids bingo. The first 2 games had 2 winners each and both winners won prizes each time. The third game was won by a woman and the 6 yr old child. The prize was awarded to the woman and the 6 yr old was not recognized. He started crying because he could not understand why he had won too but he didn't get a prize, even though all the winners in the previous games had won something. His mother had to talk to the game coordinator who still refused to award the child a little prize. Finally she presented him with a water bottle after the child's mother tried to show her the unfairness of it all, especially when the woman who won turned around and presented her prize to another child.

Wonderful by debadean19982

Even though we got re-routed and we couldn't go to our original ports of call because of Hurricane Danny and Erika, the ships captain took us to other ports of call and kept us safe. I really love Aruba and Bonaire. Both are beautiful islands that I hope Royal Caribbean will go to again. Both are very clean and friendly islands. Staff was wonderful as always. I felt bad for the staff because many people were cranky and disrespectful to them because of the itinerary change. I asked one of the staff members how much it was to use the internet. I explained how I and to cancel my excursions and when we went to book through the ship the excursions were all full. She let me use the internet for that day for free sense I had to look up and book an excursion through an outside company.

Nightmare on the seas by jackiejack89

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My trip was for 22nd August.  At 11pm I was contacted the night before to be told instead of going to the 6 islands I had carefully planned i.e. Antigua, St Lucia, St Martens, Barbados and St Kitts, we were going to 3 islands, St Thomas, Aruba and Bonair.  This was due to Hurricane Danny hitting those islands which turned out to be less dangerous than they first thought. My problem with this is firstly, weather forecasts are mapped out weeks in advance surely they could have let us known sooner with the option to cancel and get our money back? Secondly, the hurricane was downgraded why couldn't  we  resume the original schedule?  Lastly, it was my birthday and I was meant to be meeting friends and family in Antigua And St Lucia and I came with gifts and items to give to them.  At a huge cost to myself I had to ship it to them.

The excursion trips I had planned were non-existent(original trip)  I was told I would not get the money back but it would be used as onboard credit i.e. forced to spend it on the ship which I was angry about.

Overall a 50th birthday trip that turned out to be dissapointing.

Good cruise, nothing to brag about by shermez

Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had many cabins for a large group.  I like Royal in general and my expectations were high for this cruise.  However, I was totally disappointed in the evening shows, and the desserts on the entire ship.  The adult shows were boring with the exception of the Newlywed game.  They need a new activities director.  The ports were nice and we did a few excursion, but I think they were a bit pricey.

U really had a great time on the cruise. The food and the service was excellent. The air and our room could have worked better. But other than that, everything else was excellent.

Beautiful Boat, mostly great itinerary by staciesteinbrun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

St. Croix needs to be replaced with a better port of call.  It's a dead port and very depressed area.  Not on par with the other ports.

Didn't love the breakfast and lunch choices.  Same thing every day and nothing really all that tasty.  On previous cruises there has been more theme type areas to choose form like a place to get sandwiches or indian food, etc.  This was the same old buffet type food with a very sad taco bar.  The breakfast was seriously lacking, the ham was almost always out, bacon was soggy and eggs didn't even look real.  Best thing was the omelet bar where you could have something fresh made but that was a 30 min wait.

The positives were the dinners, some great choices and service was outstanding.  Great bars on board, ship is beautiful.  Great gym.

A Great Time by cruiser821

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The vibe was outstanding the moment we entered the ship.On board the service was outstanding. Our waiters were very into serving and pleasing us. The dinning room staff went out of their way to make sure we could eat at the same time with the same people each night. The food was very good. Even the Windjammer was good. The staff kept the ship clean at all hours. The ports were very nice. I recommend the Kon Tiki Tour and the snorkel trip over the german wreck. St. Kitts was like a slum (not the cruise company's fault) (they should skip this port). On board entertainment was great. The shows were very good. Our favorite spot to hang out was the Duck & Dog. A really good sing along guitar player. And he played request. Overall a very good trip. We will book again with Royal.

Royal Caribbean Southern Caribbean Cruise by drjboo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We traveled as a family of three on a 7-day cruise to St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Aruba, and Curacao. Every island was beautiful in it's own way and we had a complete blast. We booked shore excursions both through the cruise line and on our own, and didn't have any trouble either way. All of the people on the ship were so friendly, everything was spotlessly clean, and the food is to die for. We saw shows, utilized the gym, went to the pool, played mini golf, and so much more. It was a perfect vacation for me, my husband, and my 19-year old son.

Great Service and Wonderful Ports by sheylaangelopou

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The crew and staff are very courteous and friendly.  The service is excellent.  The food is 4 out of 5.  This ship is oriented towards family enjoyment.  The shows are not that good except for the Skating Show which was fabulous.

Overall it was a great vacation!

Adventure of the Seas by bruneauchris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our 1st time using Cruises Only & sailing on Royal Caribbean.  The planning went very smoothly & the cruise was excellent.  The service on Royal Caribbean was over the top, the entire crew was friendly & went out of their way to help you, even when you didn't need help!  We only had one disappointment & that was one of our excursions was cancelled & we booked something on the pier - big mistake (but at least it was only $20 a person).  The meals in the dining room were great & we met some real nice people.  The buffet meals were pretty much the same each day.  Entertainment was very good with a lot of variety.  My husband took the All Access Tour on ship the last sailing day & learned a lot about the operation of the ship.  I took the galley tour & brunch which was fun & the brunch was enough food to keep you going all day.

Southern Carribian Vacation August 2015 by rozmaestri2001

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

By enlarge the trip was wonderful.  The service was spot on, from the dining room to cabin.  The food was very good, be that from the Windjammer / main dining room and in particular the specialty restaurants, (excellent).  The only drawback is still the lack of free WiFi.  I have been on several cruises, all with Royal Caribbean and this still remains my sticking point.  The cost for WiFi is rather expensive for the spotty off and on service.  Again, i would stress that it should be made available to guests at "no charge".

Very Good Vacation- Royal Caribbean OK by MarkRubitski

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The vacation was very good- there were some areas within Royal Caribbean that need to be addressed.   The line and processing to initially get on the ship was very long- took 90 minutes to work through this process.   The balcony on the ship had paint chips all over it that were not cleaned up prior to our arrival.  The WindJammer Restaurant where we ate most of our breakfasts & lunches had food that was not kept warm by the food heating systems.  We very much enjoyed our dinners and the fine dining experience of the staff.   I enjoyed the entertainment and the off ship excursions.

Food and service was excellent. Night shows were amazing by debbieramsammy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

due to carnival in 2 islands shops were closed and tours only in the mornings. Would have been nice to know in advance as those were the 2 islands we had the longest time on shore and nothing to do. Cruise line should have adjusted itinerary accordingly .

Wonderful Caribbean Cruise! by clanphear

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a great time on our cruise, especially for the price we got it for! The itinerary was busy with 5 islands, but that is also why we chose this particular cruise. We were especially glad we only had 1 At Sea Days, because everyone was the pools that day and it was so packed! The staff throughout the whole boat were amazing, so friendly! We went to a lot of the trivia and game shows which were a lot of fun. There were always too many activities to do them all. Like I said before, it was a very busy cruise with very little sleep but we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

It an ok cruise. Ports are great by ttanner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The cruise was good.  I have been on about 7 RC cruises and this one I liked the least.

The entertainment was not that great....tired of seeing the dancers and singers.   need more variety.

Staff could be more enthusiastic and friendlier.

One dining room staff was not very friendly and found a hair in our food.

I don't like the mall atmosphere.

The ship was clean but our room they had to come and shampoo the carpets...it smelled in there.   after they did that it was good.  never should have had to complain.

the excursions were horrible.   it seems that they extremely overbook and its crowded and you wait forever then when you get there they rush you.  had more fun doing things on our own.  Will never book excursions again.

Albino and Julio dining room staff that we mostly had was exceptional.  great service.

great trip overall by cardy115

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a blast on this cruise.  It was actually our second time with this exact same itinerary, but a different ship.  The ports of call are great.  We only did one excursion through the ship this time.  Service all around was outstanding, and we were please with the food.  RC skimped a bit here and there with teeny shrimp and/or scallops, but the servers were always more than eager to bring out extra portions.  Two complaints about the cruise - the first was the outdated décor of the ship.  It is badly in need of refurbishment.  After just going on a new Disney ship last year, our accommodations were a big disappointment.  The space was fine for the two of us, but all the furniture and fixtures were so old, and our couch was stained.  The second complaint is the entertainment on board.  The comedians were awesome, and the ice show was truly outstanding, but the shows on the remaining nights with the RC singers and dancers were sub par.  Dancers were out of sync, and the singers were annoying and lacking of talent.  Both the cruise director and the assistant were by far the best we've seen, and the evening adult game shows were hilarious.  Great money spent, overall we had a fabulous time.

Loyal to Royal by melissamronda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Royal Carribbean always tops out on service and staff.  Porters loading our luggage on board broke one of our cases.  RC attempted to repair it, and when that failed they supplied us with a brand bew hard case. Also credited us 90 bucks on our sea pass account.  When I cancelled my spa appointment last minute because I felt sick, they didn't charge me a penny, which is usually customary in most spas. Although the not the newest or most attractive ship they have (adventure of the seas), it was clean, well maintained, and our junior suite was roomy. We booked our next one on board the ship before we even disembarked. IF you book on board you get a great deal and get to select your stateroom. Love, love, LOVE RCL!!Big Smile

Had a great vacation on board Royal Caribbean by ruizrosafamilia

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Had a great vacation on board Royal Caribbean (Adventure of the Seas). My vacation plan was just with my wife and son, but it turned out to be a family reunion by the date we set sail.  A total of 25 family members joined our cruise.  We really had a wonderful week together.  The ship was amazing; the staff were all willing and able to make our cruise experience a memorable one. There was something for everyone to do and enjoy; from age 5 to age 75, we all had a Blast.

Cruising is a blast - could have been awesome with a more engaging Cruise Director/Staff by tombrown00

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

It's our 11th cruise and it's hard to not have fun on a cruise - and we had a great time.

Positives 1) The layout of the ship is great 2) Our cabin attendant Robert was Excellent - we didn't even know he was there - unless we needed him 3) Dining service with Mario & Nana was very good - both efficient and attentive 4) Food was excellent.  5) Entertainment/shows were very good - Earl Turner was Excellent!

Negatives 1) Cruise Director & staff, while efficient were the least engaging of the 11 cruises I have been on - particularly Inara who appears completely disinterested on the two cruises we've had with her 2) Texas Hold-em tournament - 7 people signed up to play - a passenger sat down at the table and bullied the other six players into cancelling the tournament game and playing a cash game. Need to control your tables. 3)
