Adventure Cruise

Sail Date: November 14, 2015

Reviewed: 11 months ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

Overall the cruise was a pleasure.  We sailed to a couple of islands that we had not visited previously (St. Croix and Antigua) and that was a plus. Service was very good and consistent with what we have come to expect.  There were some opportunities for improvement.  They include the overall condition of the ship which has begun to show its age with noticeable wear and tear in both public areas and the staterooms. (We understand that the ship is scheduled to be refurbished in 2016.)  Johnny Rockets was a bit disappointing; one of our sandwiches was messed up (and not rectified) and we felt that more of the menu items should have been included under the cost of the cover charge.  We chose My Time dining, which we enjoy because of the flexibility it provides. The dining room menu was somewhat limited compared to our previous cruises.  The quality of the meals was also consistent with previous cruises, which we would rate as good.  We had a very good experience at Giovanni's Table.  The meal was first rate and service very good.  We have had good experiences at the Chops Grill on other Royal Caribbean ships in the past and adding that specialty restaurant to the Adventure of the Seas in 2016 should be a plus.

Cabin / Stateroom
We really enjoy the extra space the junior suite provides over the regular balcony stateroom. We chose a cabin fairly close to the elevators as it makes things much more convenient. The only negative was the signs of wear and tear.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Ship Quality
We like this class of ship, having sailed on most and on the Adventure three times. The only negative is the wear and tear we noted. Otherwise this is a great ship.
Destinations and Excursions
Service and Staff
We find service very good on Royal Caibbean ships and this was no exception. Staff are always courteous and an effort is made to help make your cruise enjoyable.
Food and Dining
San Juan, Puerto Rico
We sail out of San Juan fairly often. We arrive a day early and dine out the night before. That is one of the features of our cruise vacation that we really enjoy. It also makes things much more relaxing.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Good shopping and many excursions to choose from.
Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.
St. John's, Antigua
Stingray excursion is a must!
Castries, St. Lucia
St. George's, Grenada
Trip into town was a disappointment.
