great small ship by js14390

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Empress of the Seas / Destination: North America

we thought going on a smaller ship was a change from what we normally did .to our surprise there were no large crowds  at the pier. check in was fast and getting to the ship was easy. the ship staff were very friendly. the buffet was very good. and there were plenty of available seating. the room, an ocean view was small. and you could not bend down in the shower.( surprise) the room was cleaned ands ready very quickly. the shows were excellent. seating in the uper floor was poor. but on the main floor it was very good.dinners were very good and served quickly, but not too quickly. we enjoyed the ship and the 2 ports.. in all we would do it again

Disappointed in dining room food by kfwardrope

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Empress of the Seas / Destination: North America

The Evening entertainment was great.

The cabin service was also very good

Service for embark and disembark was fine

No pier assistance in Mexico and hospitality kept insisting that my handicapped companion could walk!!!

The pool was always too crowded to swim.

The dining room food was very mediocre

Could not have a freshly made omelet in the Windjammer

I am very shocked by xiaoan200901

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Empress of the Seas / Destination: North America

I am very shocked when I receive this invoice.

In Nov. 02, 2016, before we get off the ship, we paid $ 100.72.00 USD in cash on the ship and i also have the cash payment receipt. On the cash payment receipt, the Balance Due is 0.00.

Since we have never bought anything on the ship, I do not really understand how I can be charged for these following fees.

Can you please explain what are these (the records on my debt card)?

Oct. 31, 2016, Empress of  $ 8.31;

Oct. 31, 2016  Empress of $ 69.22;

Nov. 02, 2016 Empress of $ 61.89;

I do not know why you still charge me $139.42 CAD ($8.31+69.22+61.89) for above three transactions.

In addtion, when i purchase the ticket, i used my credit card to make the payment through the phone. After that, i have never use my debt card for any activities on the ship. How can you know all the information of my debt card and charge fees without noticing me?

I am just wondering what these are and how these things can happen? Could you give me an explain?

Regards,

Xiaoan Sun

Worst cruise I have ever taken! by esg1949

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Empress of the Seas / Destination: North America

With the exception of ease of boarding and leaving the ship, the cruise was the worst one I have ever taken.  As a birthday present for my wife, who requires a cabin from which she can see outside, said cabin, promised as "Partially obstructed," was totally obstructed unless one craned one's neck to look at the sea far below or the sky far above!  That was the beginning of the nightmare. The room service (largely nonexistent) was the worst I have ever experienced on this my fifth cruise.  The meals were limited in selection, the cabin was filled with diesel smell on two mornings, and the items one could take part in on the ship were poor, largely targeted for younger persons who liked to drink or otherwise carry on.  The fact that Halloween decorations were put up overnight and then left up for three days further contributed to the less than favorable environment.  The tour of the Mayan Ruins was interesting and factually insightful and the docent was first-rate.  In light of the above, a great disappointment and the experience will lead us to weigh carefully whether or not to use this cruise line again.

Ruby Princesss Oct. 29-Nov. 5 2016 by nir6709

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The itinerary was good. The ship was dated and seemed disorganized at times it seemed this was the first cruise it had been on.

Upon embarking the ship we were invited to eat at the Horizon Buffett which has the worst lay out and not enough seating for all of the new passengers embarking. Food is not good and it is the same food offered the entire week. The Dinning room food was not good either we ate there two nights, we ended up eating off the ship or eating pizza. We did eat at one of the other choices which was the Crown Grill service and food was worth the $29.00 fee.

Our stateroom was nice enough for an inside cabin with loads of closet space.

Drink service around the pool area's were almost not happening. In 5 hours we were asked once if we wanted a drink.

Entertainment on Sea days was lacking. But the evening shows were pretty good.

This cruise seems to be most popular among an older crowd. Lots of scooters wheel chair ect......

Getting off the ship was a big mess. Took us one hour to actually make it to immigration. They called almost everyone one to get off at once. We were walk off number one.

All in all it was a good cruise, but the ship has no Wow factor at all....Just a very basic nothing to really brag about cruise. I would not take this ship again.

sunshine and pleasant by krizekcj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

If you are young or middle age this cruise is not for you. Few kids on board.  The ship is in need of an overhaul. Worn carpet and furniture, no interactive t.v.  on the positive side this cruise appeals to the 50s-70,s crowd.  Good food, great fellow passengers and activities on board and on shore good for this demographic.

California Coastla by sk8rsmom22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

This was a wonderful get away.  Being from California we had been to all the cities that the ship docked at.  We found something new to do in each port.  We discovered Glass blowing in Santa Barbara.  The Queen Mary is in the same location that we docked in Long Beach.  The Scavenger Hunt in San Diego was educational and fun.  On the way back to SF there were whales.  It was fun to stand on our balcony and see the spouts.

Great Cruise! by Cruiser60974622

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The 7-Night California Coastal Cruise on Princess was great! The ship was beautiful and the cruise was very relaxing. The crew was very friendly and helpful and always smiling. We ate one night in the speciality restaurant, the Crown Grill, and it was outstanding. We would definitely recommend this cruise to everyone. Actually, we are planning to take this cruise again with friends. A "must do" cruise!

Laid back cruise by churchservices

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

As a resident of California, this cruise was a laid back one for us.  We have been to all the ports in the past, so we were not over anxious to see "everything".  The best part was the ship was in port for many hours which gave people the time they needed to go ashore and visit.  All of the ports dropped you off right downtown so it was easy to get off the ship and find something to do without paying for excursions.  The entertainment was excellent at night.  The food was good.  I know it is hard to feel several thousand people each meal but I would love to have my food hotter.  I think that is just the nature of the beast with cruises.  We had a great time as we visited relatives in each port.  Just fun.

Nice cruise but too short by dmballew14798

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Check in at San Pedro was so smooth and there was no waiting in long lines. We did express walk off with all our bags and that was fast also.  Anytime dining option only offered 530-545pm or 8pm reservations.  They were not at all flexible which does not sound like Anytime dining.  We enjoyed all the ports but Santa Barbara is a tender port and that is a hassle.  Speciality dining has $29 or $39 cover charge which is pricey.  Crown grill has great food but service was slow and they would only give our party of six a 530pm reservation eventho we called early.  The new SHARE restaurant for $39 does not have a very appealing menu.

Very fun cruise by danielledavino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

They have pretty good food, fun entertainment, but would benefit from opening both dining rooms up for the people who want anytime dining to prevent us from having to wait on a long line. After all, that is the point of any time dining, instant gratification on our pampering cruise.

Princess Service was Grand by gonzo57392900

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The Grand is starting to show her age and going into dry dock in December should help . A big positive was the EXCELLENT service provided by Amador and Micheal at table 175 . Great selections on the evening meal . a large weakness were the evening shows . The dog act has to go along with Steve Morsi and his outlandish gay jokes!

One item I and others questioned ,was the SRO for the British Invasion show . Filled to capacity-one reason being that there was only one show-BUT how does  Princess lines allow folks to come in after the show starts and even let passengers stand by the railings? Seemed quite dangerous!!

Not too good! by Disguisted

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Gem / Destination: North America

I understand people get sick, but did every passenger onboard have to suffer in 2016 because of the mishaps of one passenger?!!?  We lost an entire island because of this incident!  And to make matters worse, we went to one of the worst islands in the carribean where there's hardly anything to do!  TV's never worked correctly throughout the cruise and went completely off almost two days before the end of the cruise!  My bathroom in my balcony cabin had a foul odor that was never gotten rid of!  I guess the best part of the cruise was having someone else make my bed!  I had a great steward!

Way Better Than I Expected!!!! by divineisabella

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Empress of the Seas / Destination: North America

The cruise was much better than I anticipated because it is the smallest ship in the fleet. The price was also very reasonable so it makes you wonder!!! The cabin and the food were just like any Royal Caribbean ship. The entertainment was better than expected. The ship is small so never could find a bar that didn't have Trivia quiz or line dancing class from 5:00-6:00 when I wanted quiet "cocktail hour" before dinner at 6:00!!! Liked the brunch and free Mimos's or Bloody Mary 's on at sea days. Staff was super nice!!!!

Nice experience, but could not sleep all night, all morning by fintari

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: North America

The weather was very cold and windy, but the outside pool was as warm as a hot tub.  We spent all of our evening in the pool watching movies on the big screen.   The food was very delicious, but the lines were too long and everything was crowded.

The people Carnival hires are the friendliest and most helpful people!   We only had the issue with the sky rope line operators, where the woman decided to close the course (it is was time to close) while we were in line.   She said, come back in the afternoon, but the wind was too strong in the afternoon and the course never opened.

Most importantly, our room was just below the Japanese restaurant where the crew started preparing food at 5AM and still was cleaning up at 11:30.  It was impossible to sleep!  At one night we went upstairs to find them hammering some crab shells open that shook our whole cabin.

Talked to many guest who had the same experience.

Review of Carnival Sunshine Cruise by maozaeta

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: North America

I had a great time with my friends celebrating our 50th birthdays (all 13 of us) and reuniting after so many years. The cruise itinerary and activities were good. Service in the dining area was excellent provided by Monika and I.Gusti. The food selection could have been better. Some were very small portion and cold/bland. The cabin size is very small and could not walk around with the luggage not stowed away. No toiletries provided.

Balcony Disaster!! by doloreswilson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: North America

I enjoyed the length of the cruise, it was like a long weekend.  The cruise director, Emma, was very approachable and friendly. Her and her staff made the cruise enjoyable.  I would recommend the cruise, I loved the town of New Brunswick, very quant. However, I would not book a balcony room again.  I paid extra for the room, but was not able to use the balcony.  So disappointed!!
