Great cruise but entertainment could have been better, more music around the ship needed.

First and last cruise ever. by gunnys

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific

Our first and last cruise. If you find things you don't like or if the weather is rough you have no where to go. An outbreak of influenca A made it a trip to remember for a week after we returned home.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: South Pacific

Great cruise line good prices on ship excursions. """"Shipmates"""""" this is why I do not fill out these questionnaires I am very brief to the point 50 characters it's too much I'm not getting paid$$$ to do this. This will be my last one unless you remove your 50 character minimum

The Cruise of disappointment and shattered dreams… but at least the boat didn’t sink by Wyrm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: Australasia

This was a very unorganized and disappointing experience, you would think this was the first time they put together a cruise and not an established name in cruising.

Great cruise with good staff. Good layout of ship. Some stuck up passengers. Ship could do with some areas repainted. Internal pool area was used daily. Staff was very helpful.

Had a wonderful cruise, loved the ship, but will probably stick to smaller cruises. 14 days was too long.

Not good Cape Town to Melbourne Cruise by PennyC76095489

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Australasia

Not a very good experience on a ship that is very overrated. Staff unfriendly, entertainment during sea days not of the standard that I expected.

The best of the best by phil70

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Silver Shadow / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

Having visited New Zealand upteen times , this was a little different because the ship is so much smaller , especially compared to Majestic Princess , with the ability of venturing that much further into Milford Sound also visiting Stewart Is. . Much prefer this size of ship with only 386 passengers & nearly the same number of crew & surprisingly quite stable for such a small ship at 28,000 tonne displacement , however affordability will for now be a consideration . We do have another cruise in March 2020 on the Silver Muse .

Beware of claim of luxury by truthteller

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Silver Shadow / Destination: South Pacific

Luxury is the most abused word used by cruise companies; it is an attempt to mislead consumers. Silversea plays a con game because it is, based on my recent experience, very far from being a true luxury cruise line such as Seabourn, Regent or Azamara. The Silver Shadow should have received a major renovation and refurbishment some years ago. Every other passenger on our cruise who had previous experience with true luxury cruises agreed with our view that Silversea was a major disappointment in a number of ways; this was true for people from different countries. One of the first shocks was the terrible television system in cabins; more like 20 year old technology than what one gets in modern cruise ships. Much of the food was disappointing, either bland or overly salted, and with too little variety. Nearly always meats of any kind were overcooked. There was no coffee and tea bar with snacks that one could go to at any time; something that true luxury ships offer. Amazingly, there was only one computer for the whole ship that passengers could use. Like us, many others were also disappointed with the entertainment and with many of the excursions. More importantly, cabins were either very hot or cold. Even more disturbing, at least half of the passengers became sick with coughing, nasal problems and other symptoms; if there was effective government regulation of cruise ships, then the one we were on would be required to undergo a very thorough cleaning and sanitizing before beginning another itinerary. On the plus side, the selection of wines was very good and the service was very good nearly all of the time. My advice is to dig deep for information to avoid falling for the luxury scam being marketed by Silversea and other cruise companies.

Our first cruise and it was great by thedenniss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Voyager of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific

Our family of 6 had an amazing time.  We had a small issue with a constant banging noise. The offered us another room but it couldn't accommodate all of us. So that was a bit annoying but they have given us a discount off a future cruise. Also we found 4 port days in a row a bit tiring, a sea day in the middle would have been better for us. The adjoining rooms were great. We were on deck 2 and found it nice and quiet and not too much movement. Just a long way from all the eating places.

something for everyone by maxi114

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific

A fantastic cruise with endless activities.

Ovation has it all. Had been warned about long waits for the attractions but did not find this the case. Used the Royal IQ app for our cruise compass and booking activities.

Food was great with good variety although after day 7 the menus repeat.

Staff where exceptional with no request being too much.

Would book Ovation again. The ports where never important to us as we came for the ship. But the excursion we did in KL was well run and informative.

Thanks RCI for a fantastic time.

Disappointed by KarlaB89

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

I was so excited for my first cruise. But as soon as we set sail I felt sick (this isn't their fault) Sailing down to Hobart then off to NZ  was pretty rocky. It was like being drunk all the time. The weather was pretty bad, high winds and raining daily. A lot of shows were cancelled. Not much options for shopping unless your like high end boutique shopping. They had the little markets stalls almost daily but it was the almost the same stuff daily. If you love a good cup of coffee it is hard to find on this boat. Too many people with not enough activities or things to do. The food in the Windjammer was boring. Mostly the same stuff daily. They need to have an extra staff member for the dessert section. I felt sorry for whoever got stuck there as they were constantly stuck with about 10 people waiting for food. The beds & pillows are hard. The room service is terrible! Its a very small menu and the food is bad. On a Billion $ new ship I don't think it's up to standard. The bionic bar was average. I think it should of been somewhere different. More off to the side, not in the middle of a walkway. Most restaurants were booked out. As were excursions. So plan well ahead! The wifi was terrible. For the price paid just for the room i don't think it was worth it. The wifi should have been included. Even if it was just basic wifi.

Excellent itinerary and superb experience by Swisscruisers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: South Pacific

we loved this cruise and enjoyed the many visits to new and interesting places. We even loved the large number of sea days as HAL had the best entertainment and specialty programmes of any of our past cruises. We deeply regretted the lack of communications by the Captain when the ship had a mechanical problem in Napier and the lack of communication and inaccurate communications was both unnecessary and unacceptable. We missed one day in port (which was fully understandable) but we missed two important stops on our itinerary which was unacceptable! We had planned on meeting friends in Auckland who had offered to drive us to their summer place in Bay of Islands to rejoin the ship--- a two year plan that was abandoned by the Captain--- as we missed both stops! The financial payment by HAL was insufficient to say the very least compared to the loss of two very important stops which were abandoned. Despite this incident, we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and we continue to recommend HAL to our friends. We would also note that HAL, like all commercial enterprises today, have significantly increased the work of its excellent Indonesian and Philippine crews--- it seems our teams had more rooms to clean and more tables to serve than in the past! This did not reduce the quality of service....it was just evident that the crew was often overloaded with work!

Expedition Cruising at its Best by eadominguez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Silver Discoverer / Destination: South Pacific

We had the opportunity to sail on the Discoverer in September on the Lost Islands of Micronesia and Melanesia, voyage 9520. The actual itinerary underwent some changes from when it was originally printed (I think that's what is showing here) and what actually was sailed. And then we had further changes due to weather while we were cruising! Rule #1 of expeditions, expect the itinerary to change. If you understand this ahead of time, you will be okay and will have a fabulous time. The ship itself was well built for what we were cruising for (smaller ship, smaller less visited ports). Everything is off-the-beaten path. We LOVED the expedition staff, their interaction throughout the day with guests, and their presentations shared during the cruise. They are each consummate professionals. Having a butler for our stateroom was a first for us; we liked it, but don't find it something we have to have for every cruise. Overall, it whet our appetite to try Silversea's classic fleet such as the Cloud, Muse, etc. We plan on cruising the Expedition fleet for the Arctic and Antarctic for sure.

Beautiful, Relaxing Ports...A Great Experience by SeaNSun628

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Marina / Destination: South Pacific

I had a wonderful time, met amazing people (passengers and crew); it was a fun experience. Because this is a small ship, quickly it became a small community where conversations began easily over tea or dinner at one of the many dinner options. I returned disappointed with the Easter Island experience. On the arrival day, disembarkation was delayed for several hours, staff did not provide any information on how the delay affected scheduled excursions, so confusion and claims of discrimination were voiced related to the staff attitude. The excursions on Easter Island arranged by Marina are not recommended; they are too expensive and guides are not knowledgeable. Passengers who arranged their own excursions had the best time with experts from the island.

The French Polynesia is the most amazing place to visit; people were friendly and eager to share about their island. Nature is breath taking everywhere I went. I will love to go back again.

Unfortunately, there was a virus floating around the ship and was passed around by passengers/crew. I became sick just when we departed the French Polynesia, sore throat, cough and congestion. I spent 2 days in my cabin with sore throat, cough and fever. I have been home a few days and I am still having symptoms from the virus.

Superb service, food, etc but a few niggles which stops me giving it 5 stars by Francened

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Mariner / Destination: South Pacific

This is a slickly run ship with excellent food, service, shows, etc one major item that lets down seven seas cruises are the excursions. They advertise openly that you can go on as many free excursions as you wish. Sadly this is a misrepresentation. After booking 3 months prior to going we were only given 1 confirmed excursion. We were on the waiting list for all the other excursions. Happily we were put on most excursions but only at the last minute and we know of other travellers who were not successful.

further the quality of excursions were variable. We would put the excursion on Easter Island as only fair. You do not see the main statues/heads and are only shown a few near the harbour. We would recommend organising a private tour when you land on Easter island.

another major niggle was the cost of internet. A whacking 30$US per day! We thought this was steep especially taking into account the reception was variable and there was no skype.

we were quoted 349$US for a car service from Callao port to the hotel in Miraflores when if you book with taxidatum.com the same journey was 20$US. Also do not fall ill on board as a casual visit to the on board doctor was 150$US.

The above stopped me giving Regent Seven Seas 5 stars. We believe Norwegian have bought Regent Seven Seas recently so watch this space for any drop in service as any new owner looks to cut costs.

we thoroughly enjoyed this first cruise but it could have been perfect but for the above.
