Small Ship, Slow Service, Bad Food by LaceOnline

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Overall, we made the best of our vacation but it was not the cruise for us. We were surprised to find everything on the ship in English with the majority of guests being from the U.K., then America, then Asia. But with a long overseas trip, almost everyone was over the age of 65. The service was poor, the food was poor, the cruise director Dave was terrible, and the activity schedule was poorly planned.

Great itinerary - Spain/Morocco/Canary Islands by nursebetty140

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We booked this cruise because of the itinerary and are very happy we did this. Great itinerary. HOWEVER, we had two very rocky days at sea. We had 17 foot waves for over 36 hours. I'm not sure this ship was designed for these type of waves and swells. On the second night at sea, many passengers said they had difficulty not being rocked out of their beds.

While this trip provided us an opportunity to explore several countries through a unique experience, certain factors made the overall experience only average. by MLarry

Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The overall cruise experience was very good. However, we were late returning from an excursion in Palma due to some transportation issues and missed the ship departure. This was a terrible experience which cost me over $1000 in flight, lodging, etc,(We had to take a flight from Palma to Barcelona, and stay overnight in Barcelona. Then we flew to Palermo and spent a night there). This meant that, for 2 days, we were not on the ship. I don't blame Costa for us missing the ship. However, when we returned to the ship in Palermo, Italy and cruised to Rome, I saw that Costa had originally removed the service fees from my bill for the 2 days we weren't on the ship. But then they returned those fees, although we received no service, our stateroom was locked and received no cleaning for those 2 days, we consumed no meals, nor used any of the facilities during this period. I spoke with the cruise's on board customer representative to plead my case, and asked that those charges be removed, only to be told, very rudely, "Sir...That's NOT going to happen!". I should not have been charged for services I did not receive.

Couldn’t be better or easier by IndyRon

Ship: Viking Star / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a relaxed yet classy experience. No formal nights, no charge for speciality restaurants (Manfredi’s was exceptional), wonderful spa area, plenty of space to just hang out.

Great experience. by kwitts06

Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was beautiful, the overall experience was good we were just very distinct the food options and how Early it all shut down. 9pm for included food is really unacceptable. The ship all 7 Days was very warm, especially in them he dining areas, pretty uncomfortable. Otherwise we were happy with the trip.

Winter nightmare by mrtravel2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Victoria / Destination: Europe

Positives were few and stated above. This ship was driven through very rough seas at one point almost hurricane force. My wife was terrified, sick, and crying so often. The last 2 nights she was unable to eat or sleep. I will have a tough time ever getting her to sail again. If winter is this rough you should know this and not schedule cruises from these ports. Our money and time was wasted.

Great Cruise for History Buffs by davman351

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Canaries

This is a great cruise for history lovers. Every port has some very interesting venues to see and learn something new. Since I went in December, this was not a typical go to the sun type vacation, but the history and culture more than made up for the low temperatures. Still managed to come back with a tan.

Southern Mediterranean Cruise, minus 2 stops by epinorth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Star / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Wonderful cruise experience on Viking Star (beautiful ship, nicely appointed cabins, professional staff, good food and drink) but disappointing that we missed two ports (Sicily and especially Algiers -- how many other opportunities will anyone have to go there?).

An adequate voyage by jbsiddall

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

A good price bargain for booking a year and a half in advance. Interesting ports of call itinerary. An aging ship too small for 2200 passengers. Do not need shopping opportunities on excursions.

A Good Cruise by jscollyer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The ports of call were good...places we hadn't been to before. The ship was just ok...old...and entertainment we had seen before. We were surprised how many smokers there were on the ship. Cigarette smoke wafted down one stairwell/elevator area in particular.

We will not cruise with Costa again! by sshiggs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Europe

The cruise was a good experience, but mainly because of the beautiful ports we visited. Our favorite port was Olympia, Greece. We will cruise again, but unfortunately not with Costa cruise line.

Not the Cruise that we expected by maryloucarino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Viking Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The first week on board was okay until starting December 2, we had a "hot water" problem in our cabin, which persisted until December 6. This problem ruined the whole cruise. I was stressed out not knowing if I could shower or not. They said (Receptionist Desk) that Los Angeles Office was made aware of this, but to date nobody has contacted me yet about our misfortune in this particular cruise. Also, we felt there some kind of discrimination when being served compared to faired skin passengers.

Great itinerary but that's it. by orionch1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I will not be using Costa again, I don't feel like it is the right cruise line for our family. We loved the ports and some of the staff was very friendly but unfortunately, the ones that were not outnumber them.
