Review summary

This is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a relaxed yet classy experience. No formal nights, no charge for speciality restaurants (Manfredi’s was exceptional), wonderful spa area, plenty of space to just hang out.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Took all of 15 minutes from taxi drop off to settling in state room.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was the best on a cruise by far. We’ve sailed RCL, Carnival, Princess and Celebrity (Aqua class), Our Viking experience was by far the best. From room service, to cafe/buffet, to dining room, to specialty (no charge!) restaurants the food selection, presentation and taste was exceptional. We opted for the Silver beverage package and was not disappointed. Premium spirits, premium wines all superb.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
This is not the cruise line for 24-7 activities. Movies, port talks, music, some live entertainment, bar bands all quite good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone on board greeted acknowledged us throughout the ship. Cabin attendant always called us by name, bar tenders always engaged us in friendly small talk and wine steward Arthur had a GPS for us, always showing up regardless of the restaurant at the right time!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This is not a 5,000 person mega cruiser but a well designed 975 passenger vessel. We felt like we were on a much larger ship, but never a wait for more than a few moments for anything. We always found a place to sit in the cafe and always found a seat at the bar.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Excellent. Clean spacious, great bathroom and shower. Many storage drawers.

Ship tip

Do it!

City tour was in remarkable

St. Tropez, France

4 out of 5
Beautiful city buy a bit of a bust, it was Sunday and nothing was open.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

4 out of 5
Since we had been to Monte Carlo we opted for the Nice on you own and had a wonderful lunch and walk through the city

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

4 out of 5
Tour of Luca was unremarkable, probably because it was a Sunday.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
Stayed in Civitavecchia and just walked around. Had the best pizza ever just a 100 yards from bus drop off point

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Effortless. Stayed on board as we were staying in Barcelona. From walking off the ship, claiming baggage and getting in taxi all of 10 minutes, no lines whatsoever ever.
