Never again on Costa cruise by Comfy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This is one kind of cruise I'll never recommend anyone to go on.  It's not suppose to be called a cruise but the official name should be: "SHUTTLE CRUISE"  We got on the cruise on the first of May having big hope of enjoying the next seven days but each day we stopped, new people keep embarking and disembarking and announcements in more than 5languages keep coming in and out more than usual.

Destinations promised were not kept.  We left home with the greatest hope to see more of Europe especially Malta and on the day that we suppose to go there, an announcement was made that we had navigational problem and have to go somewhere else which in normal circumstances suppose to be a port closer to us, we were about 3hrs from Malta but we ended up in Palermo which took us more than 7hrs(Go figure, I thought if there is an emergency, you go to the nearest port, airport or train station but not the farthest one)We did enjoyed Marseille and Barcelona though, thank God that they had enough passengers to pick up from those two ports maybe it would have been another story like the one of Malta.

Food wise:Horrible, I'm not a fan of Pizza at home but because we were going to Italy, I promised myself to indulge in pizza for the first time since Italy is known to be home of pizza, that was not the case.  The pizzas we got was the worst pizza ever made daily, we were told if we want the authentic pizza we have to go to pizzeria and buy it for four euro,

Entertainment sucks except the ones offered in the theater hall on deck 3/4/5 but the timing is odd, all other entertainment were worst the ones you see offered for free on the street or inside the metro.  Employees were cold, inattentive and doesn't seems happy to be there at all, when you need help they never help but refer you to someone else.

Pool is the worst pool I've ever seen on any cruise lines(too small and the ones made for adults were full of kids jumping in out and throwing dangerous items all around, the slide was unavailabe throughout the cruising time )We could not wait to get out of the cruise and we never look back because there is absolutely no urge to come back ever again.  I'm still having headache up till now, the NOISE POLLUTION on the cruise is than open market or airplane noises.

MSC West Mediterranean by sammywong2000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Fantasia / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Did go to a similar MSC cruise trip couple years ago on the Eastern Med. This time is much better experience. I can tell that MSC has improved a lot from management all the way to every workers on the floor. The food are much better and the other hotel related arrangements are also well conducted. As a whole, I cannot find anything I should complain. Of course there is room to improve here and there but for me it is GOOD enough. My wife and I also 4 other friends (2 also on previous MSC cruises) are very happy for MSC also enjoyed our vacations.

dont go to the Spa. its a waste of money and worst service. by Brianbravo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

My wife and I, took the 75 minute Spa massage. It was the worst spa we have ever received. For the first 15 minutes, the person is explaining what happens in your muscles due to certain chemicals in your body and drawing a picture of the muscles. This was really odd, but obviously a set up for a sales pitch. And at the very end, for another 15 minutes, she is trying to sell you vitamins and herbal medicines. This was 30 minutes that was taken from our 75 minute spa. I don't think it was right for us to be charged 196 Euros per person ( a total of 392 Euros ) and get this type of service. When I complaint to the manager, Bianka Mariotti, she said "its like going to a restaurant and coming back the next day saying the pasta was salty and you wanted a refund". I thought that was very disrespectful and very poor customer service on her part. This will be the first and last time we take a Costa Cruise and we will tell our friends never to book Costa. We have always had great service in Carnival and Norwegian.

MAGIC by red1980

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Normally I do not leave any feedback for my travels but this time I feel that Costa Crociere and Logitravel totally deserve it. It has been an amazing cruise from the very beginning till the end. Not even one small complaint. Costa Diadema is marvellous, perfectly organized, the food is great, fresh and comprehends amazing recipes (even better if you consider that there were 5000 people to be feeded). Unlimited and delicious cocktails all day long. The staff is always smiling and willing to help you. Everywhere is clean and tidy. The cruise organization is a perfect machine and happiness is guaranteed.

A special mention also to Logitravel (and Cristian) which helped me organizing this cruise. I will contact them again for sure. They have been kind and professional at the same time. Long story short congratulations to Costa Crociere and Logitravel, well done, keep it up.

Excellent Costa Diadema Cruise by kytevict

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I have never cruised on such a large ship and was concerned about crowds. Only the elevators were full. There was plenty of space to enjoy yourself. The entertainment was not as good as my previous Costa Cruise experiences. It was better than many other cruise line entertainment. My room was great.

A most enjoyable cruise by tmcm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Elizabeth / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship definitely met our expectations and needs. It is definitely a higher class of ship with the needs of the passengers foremost. Due to extremely rough sees we were more than happy to be onboard this ship compared to some others. Clearly Cunard have chosen to maintain a high standard of ship whilst linking to the old world style of cruising.

My very first cruise 1990 Costa Rivera by navigator620

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa neoRiviera / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was without a doubt, the most fun cruise I've ever been on and I have sailed with quite a few different cruise lines since 1990. The entire crew was fun and did everything possible to make life more fun for us. The newer neoRivera is possibly a different ship but if the crew is still as engaging, you'll have a ball on there. My daughter and I sailed on the Costa Rivera in 1990. I was 'forced' to choose a year up further and chose 2014.. We sailed in July 2014 to the BVI's. St Thomas, St.Maarten etc.

bad cruise by ajuzzo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

been on ship before, not the same.cruise was shortened by one stop.so ship had to make up the difference at sea, making cruising to 6 to 10 mph.sometimes we would just float in water ,so we would not get to ports early. last day was a mess people stuck on elevators fighting to get off to meet their connections.staff didn't know what to do,almost fighting broke out.what a mess, never again for me.

Things keep going wrong by Herndoncruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Most problems we encountered were minor but they kept on coming.  It was always a question of What was going to go wrong next.  Here is a quick list of disappointments;

Rooms too small - the smallest room I've ever seen on a cruise.

6+ hours to add Alex to our reservation Bait and switch on Florence excursion.  We chose this cruise base on certain excursions that we dropped for no apparent reason. No maps for Valencia drop off 4 blocks from town center for Valencia drop off 5 Euros cost for all bus shuttles (every other cruise the cruise line offered free shuttles.cruise line Crib too low Entire family suffered Sinus problems on board ship.  Sinuses cleared as soon as we went ashore. Generally poor, redundant food in cafeteria. 1.5 year old Liam was not permitted to Halloween party - even with mother chaperone. Failure to properly process Amy's cabin pre-paid tips

Do not sail on Costa Cruises! by Kate5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Serena / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Dear Travellers,

Warning!!! Do not book a cruise with Costa Cruises (which is owed by the Carnival Corporation).

In October 2014, I went on a 7 day Mediterranean cruise on the Costa Serena. While the trip itself was fine, my experience has been spoiled by Costa Cruises’ horrendous customer service.

Read the time-line below if you want the details but at the very least please trust me in saying that this company does not believe in customer service and I sincerely urge you to book your cruises elsewhere!

Given the circumstances, I have been extremely polite and patient…Please share with others so they don’t have to experience the same frustration and financial loss.

For those who are interested, here is a time line of the events…

Nov 3 - Severe storm on the Mediterranean sea. An announcement is made that the ship will not be stopping in the port near Rome as scheduled but continuing on to Naples and arriving around 2pm on Nov 4. Given those circumstances, it will be impossible for me to make my flight from Rome to Zurich at 2pm on Nov 4 so I go to the customer service desk. I ask if I can have internet access in my cabin so that I can change my flight. I am told that is not possible but if I can provide them with my travel itinerary, that they will take care of it and let me know in the morning what my new travel arrangements will be.

Nov 4 - I am informed that my new flight to Zurich will cost me $366 euros (which is about $550!). I am curious why I should have to pay for the new flight but the crew insists that the storm is not their fault and that they are therefore not responsible for compensating me in this situation. I am immediately billed for the cost of the flight and told that I can try calling the North American Costa offices to explain my situation when I return to Canada. I can’t fathom why I am being charged so much money for such a short flight but I have no choice but to pay before I can disembark and catch my flight.

Nov 10 - I am home from Europe and call the North American Costa office as directed. Their automated answering system directs me to send an email for any issues concerning past cruises. Their agents are only available for people calling to book new cruises.

I oblige and send an email requesting someone to call me as my situation is too complicated to fully explain in an email. I do not receive a response.

Nov 14 - I call Costa Cruise requesting this time to speak with an agent. I am told I need to send an email. I reply that I did send an email and received no response. They track down my email and tell me that the customer service agent will call me that afternoon. I do not receive a phone call. Instead I receive an email from customer service with a letter in response to my email which basically quotes their company policy of not offering any sort of compensation for missed travel arrangements regardless of the reason. None of this addresses the issue at hand that I was told that my travel arrangements would be ‘taken care of’ and had I known that I was going to be out of pocket for a new flight, I would have ‘taken care of’ the new arrangements myself.

I politely respond with an email requesting that the customer service agent call me so we can discuss the actual issue. Of course, I do not receive any response.

Nov 20 - I call Costa Cruise asking to speak with the customer service agent who is handling my  situation. I am told ‘she doesn’t do phone calls.” I find it surprising that the customer service agent ‘doesn’t do phone calls’. I ask if there is someone else I need to speak with and I am told that no, she is the one in charge. So I politely insist to speak with her as it is just much easier to explain my situation over the phone than trying to send another email (to which I will likely get no response anyway). I am momentarily put on hold. Unfortunately, I am told that the customer service agent has laryngitis and is unable to speak with me at that moment. What are the chances?!?  I am told she will call me back after the weekend on Monday Nov 24.

Nov 24 - Surprise! No phone call from Costa Cruises to address my situation.

Nov 25 - I call Costa Cruises and ask to speak to the agent. The phone system disconnects. Is this an accident?! I call back and I finally get to speak with the customer service agent (thankfully she has recovered from her laryngitis!) She basically explains that they are not willing to help me in any way because of their policy to not offer compensation for interrupted travel plans. I explain that the staff on board the ship said they would ‘take care of’ my new travel arrangements and by the time I realized I had to pay for a new flight, it was too late to make my own alternate arrangements - that they basically completely mishandled the situation. I am told that she will speak to her managers and call me back the following week.

The following week arrives…

Dec 1 - no phone call

Dec 2 - no phone call

Dec 3 - no phone call

Dec 4 - no phone call

Dec 5 - no phone call

I even give her a few more days…

Dec 8 - still no phone call.

In the meantime, I contact Swiss Air only to discover that my flight never got changed! Rather than changing my original flight (which would only have cost 65 euros), Costa simply booked me a new flight at the cost of 366 euros. It saddens me that they would treat a customer this way.

Dec 9 - I call Costa and I’m told that the customer service agent is at lunch but that I can leave her a voicemail which I do. She does not return my call. I guess she had a really long lunch that day.

Dec 10 - I call again and I am told she is not at her desk so I am again directed to her voicemail. She does not return my call.

Dec 11 - I receive another email from Costa Cruises stating that they are unable to offer me any sort of compensation. It concludes with “We hope you will consider us again in the future and look forward to welcoming you aboard.”

Somehow, I don’t think so…

UNFORGETTABLE by Fernando59

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Excellent food in restaurants and self-service. The Great Club exceded our expectations: food, dinnerware, service... everything first class.

Entertainment activities are outstanding, specially those at night featuring several bars, live music, dancing and discotheque... fun was endless. We enjoyed every night the live music with Tiziano and his band: excellent music selection, great interpretation. Need to mention also Giuseppe and the Entertainment team as remarkable. We enjoyed the shows as well.

Fairly good drink selection. Room for improvement.

We didn't like when the shopping center personnel put the selling tables of duty free in the corridor making difficult to walk from the theater to the bars and restaurants área.

Great Value for the Money - 21 days total on board. by 3664shaken

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

NOTE: All ratings are based on the value of the cruise ship and where NCL places itself in the cruise ship lineup.  They are also from spending 21 days aboard the Epic, 7 in the MED and 14 doing a transatlantic crossing and time in the Caribbean.

Boarding was painless, lines in Barcelona were non-existent when we arrived and it took us less than 10 minutes to check in, receive our Key cards and get onto the ship. There was only one snafu, instead of checking us in for our back to back cruises they only checked us for the first cruise, it would have saved us time if they would have checked us in for both cruises but we didn’t mention it so I can’t really blame them. 8 out of 10

Staterooms – we had cabin 12157, an outside midship balcony. The biggest pluses were lots of storage and closet space, we showed up with two large suitcases and a large carryon each. All were stuffed full with clothes and there was ample hanging and storage space for 21 days on board a ship. The second thing we loved was the bathroom-  the shower, commode and sink were all separate areas so someone could be using the shower and the other could be using the toilet. The biggest negatives were 1) the bed which was very short, my feet hung off the end and 2) the cabin was narrow so you had to coordinate passing between the bed and dresser/TV area. I also heard complaints about dim lighting in the cabin, while this was never a problem for me I could see it being a problem for those who like bright lights and/or had an inside cabin. 7 out of 10.

DINING- Freestyle is awesome, that’s why so many cruise ships are now doing it but Norwegian led the way with this innovation and their whole freestyle concept is a winner. PRO-TIP Because it’s freestyle you have to learn “when” to dine to avoid any lines. On this ship the peak dining time on the MED cruise was around 6:30 while on the transatlantic it was 7:30.

Breakfast Buffet – Very good selection and the quality was above average 8 out of 10. NOTE: On most freestyle ships, getting food and seating in the buffet section can be challenging during peak times. There was NEVER any problem with long lies or finding seats at the buffet, kudos to the designers.

Breakfast at Taste – Don’t bother, the wait staff is highly untrained. I think they are the newest crew members and are trying to prove that they can be servers. Orders were consistently wrong, eggs over-cooked, items forgotten and it’s the same food that you can get on the buffet sans the salmon benedict which wasn’t very good. Besides the menu never changes and it’s only open to allow people who demand on being served a place to eat. 2 out 10

Lunch Buffet – About average, better than Carnivals about equal to RCCL and not as good as Celebrity. PRO-TIP The Indian food on cruise ships buffets is usually the best items available because many of the behind the scene staff are form India. This ships Indian Entrée’s didn’t disappoint but the Indian bread they served (Roti and Poppadum) was terrible. 5 out of 10

Lunch at Taste – Set dining room menu that doesn’t change, some interesting options but unless you really want table service you are probably better off eating at the buffet. 5 out of 10

Dinner Buffet – Slightly better than the Lunch buffet with different theme nights (Seafood, Spanish, Italian, etc.) PRO-TIP: If all else fails you can still get Indian food for dinner and on one night they featured Indian night which was probably the best food of the cruise. 6 out of 10

Taste/Manhattan Restaurants – Both offer the same menu so only the ambiance is different. I must admit that I was pretty impressed (and I am a foodie) with the entrée’s served there. To be honest I was expecting Carnival food and would have been happy with RCCL food, but this food was better than both of those. PRO-TIP: Stay away from the suggested entrée of the night, these are mass produced and usually the lowest food cost item on the menu. I would have no problem booking a 7 day cruise again and eating in these restaurants. Longer cruises and I would want the UDP (Ultimate Dining Package) so you can eat in the a la carte restaurants. 7 out of 10

O’Sheenan’s – Think an English pub style Applebee’s. If you like frozen, deep-fried, chain restaurant food you may enjoy this place. 3 out 10

Pizza – All cruise ships are offering pizza, very few have any pizza that is any good but I must proclaim that NCL Epic has the worst pizza I’ve ever had on a cruise ship. This is especially sad since we cruised around Italy and had lots of Italians on board. 2 out of 10

Tapas Bar – This may not be a fair review because we spent 7 days in Barcelona eating Tapas almost every day. So while they tried, these tapas were severely lacking compared to what we became accustomed to. If I had just joined the cruise and never had Spanish Tapas before I might have rated this quite a bit higher but unfortunately it only gets a 3 out 10.

DINING – A la Carte

Bonsai Sushi Bar – The best way to describe this is that you are on a Ship that doesn’t catch fish. So they have to buy it in the ports and hold it for service. Therefore freshness (taste and texture) suffer. Personally I would skip the Sashimi and Nigiri and if you are just dying for some Maki do it. But personally I don’t think it’s worth the extra charge. 4 out of 10

Noodle Bar – If you have the dining package it doesn’t make any sense to spend the extra money and have lunch here. The apps, fried rice and stir-fried noodle dishes are the same as on the regular menu. And you get the noodle bowls up in the Garden buffet so all you are paying for is atmosphere for lunch. However they do have an awesome dessert at lunch that I haven’t seen anywhere else, it’s the five spice cake – YUM, stop by for just a slice of that. 4 out of 10 (Dessert 8 out of 10)

DINING – Specialty Restaurants

Cagney’s – Steak Restaurants generally are not my cup of tea, however I went ahead and got the Filet Mignon. It was very good, cooked perfectly, in fact the one thing you have to give them credit for is they know how to cook food to the desired doneness and that includes fish and chicken. BTW, the Sea Bass served there was the best piece of fish I have had on the ship. Couple that with excellent apps, sides and desserts and this was probably the best of all the restaurants. 8 out of 10

La Cucina – One of the better green salads served in the specialty restaurants but the soup was rather pedestrian. Many of the entrees were highly Americanized versions of the Italian counterpart, so if you enjoy olive garden you will probably like this place, otherwise you might want to give it a pass.. PROTIP: The pizza crust, sauce and cheese is the same as the crap served upstairs, they just add better toppings but nothing can save this cardboard box pizza, skip it. If you like chocolate than get the chocolate torte for dessert. 6 out of 10

Le Bistro –Everything we had there was pretty tasty, lamb, duck, steak (same quality as Cagney’s BTW), pork and Coq Au Vin that was just like the one in the little bistro in Paris. 7 out of 10

Moderno – Brazilians Churrascaria’s seem to be a dime a dozen these days. The buffet food was excellent, some of the best appetizers I’ve had. All of the meat was served was pretty tasty and I really liked the Papaya cream dessert, however there was nothing there that made us want to return. NOTE: There was nothing wrong with this place, just not the type of food I am into. 4 out of 10 (when compared to other Churrascarias)

Shanghai’s – Pretty darn good, one of the best Egg drop soups I’ve had in a while. The hot and sour soup needed more vinegar (sour) but it got the heat right. The salt and pepper calamari was one of the best I have had and the steamed Mahi Mahi dish was very similar to a dish I had in Taipei. I will say that this restaurant will not necessarily appeal to those people who eat mall Chinese food or PF Chang’s Fusion crap (you know the people who want lots of food color and Hot and Sour soup that isn’t hot) they are actually much more authentic. They also had some of the best desserts on the ship, try the banana pancake, yum 8 out of 10. PRO-TIP: you will find more officers eating here than any other specialty restaurant so that should tell you about the quality of the food. Also don’t think it’s the same as the garbage they serve on the buffet Night and day difference in quality.

Teppenyaki – It’s a show more than good food. Rating just the food only 4 out of 10

Bottom Line: I wouldn’t get the “ultimate” dining package again, since the food in Taste/Manhatten is equal to or better than some of the sit down restaurants. I would however buy the trio package and eat in Cagney’s and Shanghai a couple of nights IF I was on a 2 week cruise so I could get some different dining experiences.

SHOWS

Very impressed with the entertainment going on throughout the ship, here are some of the highlights.

Cirque Dreams – Very busy, lot’s going on, plus you are eating dinner. While the performers were excellent and audience participation was fun I think eating while watching it really took away from the show. I would rather have just watched than try to have dinner at the same time. Show = 8 out of 10 show and dinner = 6 out of 10.

Blue Man Group – I’ve seen BMG 3 other times and while each show is different they all have some of the same elements. This one did not disappoint and if you like BMG than you will have fun with this show. Highly recommend if you have never seen it, BTW bring the kids they will love it. 8 out of 10.

Legends in Concert – Saw two different shows (Shakira, Diana Ross and Prince) and (Adele, Jimmy Buffet and Aretha Franklin) – Overall these shows were great, Jimmy Buffet was phenomenal, Aretha Franklin had a voice that might have been better than Aretha’s. Adele was the spitting image of her and sounded just like her. 8 out of 10

2nd City – This is intelligent, audience participation entertainment and I could tell that it went over some people’s heads. There shows get more adult in nature as the evening progress’s so you can decide how tame you want it.  8 out of 10

Presumed Murdered Mystery Luncheon ($20 charge) – I had fun, 2nd City did a good job presenting this show and there were some really funny moments. 7 out of 10

Beatles celebration band – They were okay, the audience was the most senior of all the shows so maybe that is why they played at such a loud level. Personally being so loud the music was distorted and we decided to exit the show early but the seniors seemed to love it. 5 out of 10.

OTHER ITEMS

Ice Bar – Meh, seems like you are in a walk-in Freezer when compared to other Ice Bar’s I have been in. 3 out of 10.

Pool slides – FUN, you should do them all. 9 out of 10

Bowling – It’s always fun to bowl, ice skate or do something you don’t associate with a cruise ship. It’s pricy though, $7 for one person to bowl a game. I think they would be busier if they lowered the price. 8 out of 10.

Fitness Room – Large with lots of machines and lots of different classes. I only had to wait for a recumbent bike once even though the cruise was filled to capacity.

BIGGEST COMPLAINTS

Deck space is very limited for a ship with 4,000 guests aboard. On sea days you will find virtually all deck chairs claimed by 730 AM. There is probably room for less than 800 people around the main pool and another 100 around the H20 Spice pool. The rest of the guests have to scramble for deck chairs and loungers on less desirable areas and even then you probably have about room for 600 more, many of them in the shade. This was one of the common complaints that I heard aboard and in fairness it is a serious flaw on the ship.

Indoor lounges, most ships seems to have lots of nooks and crannies to escape to, some are large public places with comfy chairs others are small private areas but this ship seemed to have very few of them. In the first few days you could use Moderno, Cagneys or La Cucina as a “secret” hideaway but pretty soon they became overrun with people who couldn’t find deck chairs.  So I think a lack of general space for guests on board the ship is lacking.

Fellow passengers, OK this is tough to write about, there are always ‘some’ types aboard every cruise ship but this ship in particular seemed to have more of those ‘types’ than ever. Also they had a bunch of dour English folks on the transatlantic portion that were never happy about anything. I’m not bashing the British, my dad was born in London and most of my relatives live there but I have never seen such a large proportion of whiners and complainers as on this cruise. My theory is that because it was a very cheap cruise those types of people purchased it and were expecting the royal treatment. Sorry folks, I have been on expensive cruises (Seabourn, Crystal, and Regent) and you generally get what you pay for. I was expecting this to be something like Carnival or maybe if lucky like RCCL but I got better than that and at a cheaper price.

The rest of the complaints I heard were pretty petty. Everyone knows that satellite internet speed is slow when compared to high speed land lines. And complaining about table cloths that have wrinkles or that people can smoke in the Casino (OMG – grow up people) As far as the complaints about smoke permeating the ship, that is false, yes you can smell it in the casino and sometimes it wafts a little but as a non-smoker who detests the smell it really was a nonissue.

Overall impression – Pretty darn happy with the value for the money. It wasn’t the Crystal or Seabourn but then again I paid 10% of what a similar cruise on those lines have cost me. It was far better than Carnival, in some ways it was equal to RCL and maybe just a tad lower than Princess but then again I paid hardly anything for this cruise (Cheaper than Carnival offerings) so I would say that I got my money’s worth without a doubt.

Spanish Tax added was a unwelcome surprise by DubaiDolly

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Having sailed around the Mediterranean on numerous occasions this was the first time that an additional tax had been added to the onboard billing. As well as the usual gratuity which is automatically added to Bevarages and Food items an additional 10 % Spanish tax was also added whilst on retail purchases this was an additional 20%. What happened to duty free prices ?

On boarding we bought a wine package which we were informed was 165 US$ for 5 Bottles plus the usual gratity which was an additional 24.25 US$ There was no mention from the stewart who was selling us the packaage that there would be an additional 10% Spanish tax added and I only noticed this later when I was checking the reciept against the account system on the inroom TV. We choose the wine package as it represents good value for money and I had already preselected in my mind my favourite Red and White grapes. We were then disappointed to learn that the Red Robert Mondavi shown on the wine list was out of stock. This was not a good start to our cruise.

However generally we had a good cruise. Our junior suite 9538 was exactly as advertised. As we booked at the last minute we were allocated My Time Dinning and were unable to prebook our table requirements on the RCI website.I would recommend that on boarding the ship that you go straight to the my time dinning desk  at the main dinning room where you can  prebook your times for dinner. I insisted that I booked for the 7 days as I didnt wasnt to come back everyday and make a booking. The manager was alittle reluncant to do this but eventually did meet my request. Infact the dinning was the highlight of the cruise where we had an excellant Head waiter who lead by example his team of waiters. The service was impecable and the standard of food was excellant. We were surprised to learn that the head chef was an English Female in a male dominated kitchen.

Nice Cruise by trbyars

Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This is a really nice ship. It's huge, but we did not have any trouble getting on or off (aside from the last day ... there was quite a line). The ship has plenty to do. I liked the water slides, but the pool seemed small for the size of the ship.

A terrific cruise! by may4avon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship is beautiful and is typical of the other RCL ships in this class. The service on the ship is excellent which is one of the reasons we come back to RCL. The food in the dining room is good, not excellent, but much better than going to the buffet. The entertainment and activities on the ship were very good.
