We wanted to get away and RELAX! We intentionally did not plan to get off at either of the two ports, and it was a good decision because RELAX we did! The crew, amenities and food were fabulous. The live theater shows were superb, and the cruise Director was a bundle of energy and fun. Excellent cruise experience!!!

A nice ship but I think we'll stick with Royal Caribbean by NaplesPackerFan

Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

We had an enjoyable four days on this smaller Celebrity ship. We enjoy more activities so we will most likely be booking a larger Royal Caribbean cruise in the future

Some of the employees were rude, the breakfast was a disaster had to wait quit a while for bacon and pork sausage, eggs and bacon was nasty, only one person per omelette station, no salt and pepper shakers on the table. At dinner the dinner rolls were cold and hard a s a brick every night, the 24 hr snack was lousy little pieces of dry cake, dry small sandwiches and little pieces

of pizza.  The activities you couldn't book online but got there early and North Star and Rip Fly sold out, how so? Next, bumper car line up problem, we were there at 2:00 pm  and at 3:30 pm people were jumping in front us us and an argument ensued and no one tried to resolve the problem.  Next the couch and bed in the room was hard and difficult to get a comfortable night sleep

Nice ship, but too big by lpacheco

Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Beautiful ship, attentive crew.  Loved the spa and spa crew.  Was disappointed with the shopping, however.  Too many high end stores, and no standard souvenier or clothing shops.  Not enough crew members on board either.

My experince in the antthem of the sea by sortiz268

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Good Morning

I want to share my experience.  My Husband and I are always cruise.  We have cruise on Carnival, Princess, Norigeen and now at the Royal.  We visit many ships in the past.  but my experience with the Royal of the anthem was a bit challenge.  We never meet the person who clean our room.  The shows were cancel every day.  The hospitality could be a lot better.  When we fist got into the ship my husband bought a beer soon after we left he bought the $59.a day drink pass. We went to the hospitality desk to request a credit for the previous drink we bought earlier.  The young lady that took care of us told us that they could not credit us, because we bought the drink 30 minutes earlier. The restaurant were over booked. the show where over booked and when you did find a show to see then it was cancel.  I had a very difference experience than what I other ships. it seems that they were understaff.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

WE HAD A RELAXING AND FUN CRUISE.  WE LOVED THE MODERN LOOK OF THE SHIP AND THE BEAUTIFUL BALCONY STATEROOM. WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED BY THE CLEANLINESS, OUR ROOM WAS IMMACULATE!  THE DINING ROOMS AND FOOD WERE DELICIOUS.  WE LOVED RELAXING IN THE SOLARIUM AND THE POOL BAR HAD GREAT DRINKS.  THE STAFF EVERYWHERE WERE ALWAYS FRIENDLY.  ONLY DOWN SIDE WAS THE ROUGH WATER WHICH MADE THE SHIP REALLY ROCK ALOT.

The Norwegian Breakaway Ship is amazing. It felt like I was in a hotel. There were a lot of activities to choose  from which was a plus.

I found it overwhelming because there was not enough time to do everything that I wanted.

The dinner Friday night was good. However, my dinner selection on Saturday which was a steak was not good and extremely difficult to eat.

Overall the experience sharing with beautiful people was something that I will never forget.

cute get away by shawnandrews

Loved the food, crew, entertainment, and casino......Did not like waiting for a "guaranteed stateroom" NEVER NEVER NEVER do guarantee stateroom! too much confusion upon boarding, no one knows where your room is, and its embarrassing to be put on the side like an outcast.

The bathroom in 9066 was very small but overall, I had a wonderful time. They had lots to do. Very pleased with the service.

Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I realize it was a quick cruise to nowhere but we swear we saw one of the other passengers panhandling the night before on Bourbon street.  The service was good, the food was good. The song & dance review was excellent.  The casino was friendly. I've never seen an elevator overload and not close the doors before!! There was no rock wall, water park, or anything else that I've grown to expect from my previous 10 cruises.  I'm just really glad it was only a 2 day cruise.

Splendor was somewhat splendid. by bexter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The shows were amazing. 'Vroom' was more than what I expected and very entertaining. The food in the main dining room was delicious and the steak was the most tender cut of meat which I'd gladly compare to any 5 star restaurant. Sadly, on the second night it wasn't listed as a 'choice' so I paid an additional $20 for the surf & turf which was overcooked and less flavor than the 'included' steak from the night before. Room service was quick and efficient for those late night cravings and lots of choices to choose from. Our balcony stateroom was perfect and very quiet with the most comfortable beds. The negatives- breakfast in the buffet was terrible and the bacon was inedible. Our server in the main dining room was rude and only spoke to the men at the table. I understand in some cultures to look down upon the females but he needs to realize that he is serving all nationalities and in the USA we are treated equally. Overall this ship was fun with lots to do onboard and the Casino was paying out with a lot of happy winners onboard.

I liked the cruise but some of the bar servers were a little rude if you don"t buy alcoholic beverages, we asked for a soft drink and a bottle of water and the bar server told us to get ourselves at the bar.

fun escape by Murr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Breakaway is a fun ship and I can imagine how great it is in the hot weather when all of the outdoor areas can be used, especially the outdoor restaurants. That said, the winter cruise gets crowded & a bit hectic but there's lots to do. Catch the sail away party on deck 16 and wear your hats & coats! If you do the short cruise you MUST book your spa appt super early, get on the boat early & run to deck 15 to book the spa time. The NCL concierge app does not work for spa. If you book a package that includes room service, book that right away & be sure to get a menu if it's not already in your room. Go to guest services on deck 6 to confirm number for room service. Have fun!

Don't go in winter !!!! by gehartt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Overall, the ship is nice. Food was average except for the specialty restaurants. Steakhouse was very good. Rock of Ages was great. Unfortunately hot tubs were empty which I would've thought would be up and running for a winter cruise. Would've been much more enjoyable in the warmer months. Good escape if you just want to get away to gamble and or see a show.

casino smoke by aekey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I enjoyed the time away with family, however the smoke in and near the casino made it impossible for us to play there and enjoy the bars near it. perhaps a better ventilation system is needed. I did not experience this on my 3 previous cruises on other cruise lines.

Great time by mback911

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We had a great time on the cruise.  Other than the inordinately large amount of people on the cruise it was a good time.  Liquor may have been slightly cheaper but that would be a complaint anywhere.

Best Birthday Gift by ScubaMom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I gave my 13 year old daughter the NCL 2 night getaway on the Breakaway as a Christmas gift. She loves cruises and it was the only thing she wanted. From the moment we arrived, she was in heaven! Right when we got on the ship, there was a big Chinese New Year Celebration. My daughter was adopted from China and we celebrate every year. She was so happy to be part of the celebration. Friday evening, we paid extra to see the Cirque show and it was worth every penny. The cast was so talented and the food was spectacular. One note to NCL, you should offer a children's meal option for the show as my daughter will not eat surf and turf. Saturaday, we spent the day doing so many wonderful activities. My daughter especially loved the overhead obstical course. That evening, we had a great meal in the Manhattan Room and went to see Rock of Ages. Again, the cast was so talented, I was blown away! The staff was so attentive and friendly and always ready to help you have the best time. Extra Kudos to Alex, our cabin steward who made my daughter feel like a princess. I would recommend this getaway to everyone. Not only did my daughter love it, it was a mentally refreshing getaway for this mom!

Weekend getaway, you'll be glad you did by Duella59

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The ship was at capacity for a 2 night get away out of New York. There were couples, families and groups of friends just hanging out. While it was New York cold, there were plenty of activities throughout the day. The rooms were about the same as a carnival or princess balcony room, however, the balcony was tiny. Not what I am used to. The non fee restaurants were ok, there was some variety. The clubs hadgood music, the bars were plentiful. The highlight of my two nights was hanging out at the blues club. Slam Allen and his band was great, great and great. That guy had some voice on him and his choice of music was excellent. Without exaggeration, his shows are something I'm goingto brag about. I did not experience long lines getting on and off the ship. Things went well and was organized. I'm planning for my next weekend getaway. If you need a break, two nights on the breakaway is your answer New York

Overall disappointing, though with a few bright spots by sflem4970

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I took this cruise in Jan. 2014 with my six year old son.  It was a gift and we had an OK time, but had I paid for it, I would have been disappointed, even with relatively low expectations. Clearly, given it was a 2 day cruise to nowhere in the winter, I knew that it would not be ideal for kids. This proved to be right, but even more than I feared. The outdoor deck activities looked fantastic but were not open due to the cold.  However, although there were quite a few kids on board, NCL made no effort to make up for the lack of outdoor activities by scheduling more indoor ones. In fact, some of the things we most hoped to do, like take a tour of the bridge, were not available. They also didn't offer room service on this cruise, had no family night party (something I hear they do only longer ones) and no fireworks. We did go to the Cirque de Soleil show which was WONDERFUL and the highlight of the trip, though $40 per person.

The food was good (though not great), even in the included restaurant, but the service across the board was terrible. The staff was clearly disengaged and with a few exceptions (our steward and a man working in the arcade), were mostly unfriendly. Though we LOVED sailing out of NY harbor at night past the Statue of Liberty, it was frustrating that even though a HUGE number of passengers were on deck, NONE of the bars were open on deck. This was not just poor service, but a missed revenue opportunity for NCL.

We knew a few other adult couples on the ship and they said concurred that service was poor, food was solid, and even for adults only, unless you wanted to be on a pure "booze cruise" where you simply eat and drink, this two day trip is not great.
