Alaska was great! by tagben150

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

Alaska was beautiful! We were lucky that it did not rain at all the whole cruise. It was warm and sunny the whole time. This is very rare. The crew is polite but under staffed. The ports all need a shuttle to access the shopping area. Kudos to NCL for havinng a handicap only elevator during port. I wished other cruise lines did this.

Underwhelming experience by LinaBell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

The boat is one of the largest and has a great design with excellent service, but the activities are mostly paid and the majority of the food is worse than week-old leftovers.

Don't waste your money by dlreed7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Five (5) cruise ships all in each port at same tome, thousands of people descending upon these small towns at once made shopping, dining and museum hopping impossible. I want a refund .

Wonderful anniversary cruise with a few notes by KLaChance

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

My husband and I have been on several Alaskan cruises, nearly all of them with Celebrity, so we were very excited to check our their new Edge. First let me say that Celebrity quality is stellar and even disappointments are tolerable thanks to their amazing staff, service, food quality, cleanliness, and aesthetic. We've never been disappointed before, so we were very surprised this time. When I booked our room, I booked as "balcony guarantee" because even as there's a note it could be partially obstructed, it has always previously meant just a beam or having the life boats directly below or something. This "porthole balcony" should not be considered or charged as a balcony at all. In addition to the rounded shape cutting off view, the side of the ship juts out about 10ft, and there's another section of the front of the ship cutting off more of the view. We paid more for this cruise than any other, for about 40% of the view. It would've been more cost effective to pay for a porthole window room. We were also toward the very front of the ship, room 6102, and yet the sound proofing wasn't great. We could hear thumping and vibration of music from the Grand Plaza in our room. And there was cigarette smoke wafting into our room at all hours of the day and night. I don't know if we were near a smoking section or just had inconsiderate neighbors, but we've never experienced this on any other ship. All that said, the staff and crew, food, room attendant, and entertainment were definitely Celebrity quality, which is to say, stellar. We were disappointed to find that the Edge lacked the forward Skylounge, as it was one of our favorite places to watch for whales or just enjoy the scenery, but Eden at the aft was beautiful and enjoyable. Having the main dining room split into 4 different restaurants was pretty interesting, but I was disappointed that the decor didn't lean into the themes very much. They were otherwise beautiful with lots of great seating options, and the food as always was interesting and delicious. Alaska is worth doing on any ship, but only Celebrity has Brent Nixon and Mary Amanda Fairchild, whose infectious passion can get even the most apathetic traveler excited to get out there and explore!

Terrible ship by kentleadbetter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun

Alaska is beautiful but the Norwegian Sun is a terrible ship with very low quality food and entertainment. The ship is old but very clean. We have been cruising for over 40 years with 7 different cruise lines, 3 times with Norwegian and this is by far the worst ship we have ever been on. My best advice is to NEVER cruise on the Norwegian Sun.

Alaskan Cruise by ShadNDarla

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Westerdam

The cruise was good and we would do it again. Listening to the two young pianists playing fun music on 2 piano 4 hands at Billboard Onboard was our favorite onboard activity.

Exciting and Disappointing by AlaskanCruiser2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Discovery Princess

Do NOT book anything in Victoria if this cruise is chosen because it arrives there too late to visit any shops to shop or eat. It only stays a few hours at most there also to do anything.

Alaskan Surprise! by Tjwilliamsstuff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Koningsdam

This was a "9 person because my mom said so" bucket list trip. We boarded the Koningsdam as a family and left, most importantly, as a speaking to one another family :-) The trip did NOT disappoint. The duration was just long enough, and the relaxation afforded while cruising the passages was appreciated after fun-filled excursions.

WAAAY too many people and terrible schedule for port stops by LovesCruises

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

This would have been a nice cruise with a smaller ship, fewer people, better times in port, and a crew that was not overwhelmed trying to care for 4000 people. The Bliss has lots of amenities, but loses the ability to maintain itself when fully booked. For those multigenerational families looking to go to Alaska, consider going in the off peak weeks-- 4000 people on a ship in July is stressful. Save some stress and money and don't do it. Consider early June or late August instead--it may be a more tricky schedule, but such a better experience.

Would recommend the Alaska Cruise by ecent12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Overall I would absolutely recommend the Alaska cruise. The Celebrity Edge is a great ship and I liked the uniqueness of the infinite veranda. The staff is just fantastic. You truly feel like a celebrity as they get to know you. There was plenty to do on the ship and we did see more children on this cruise than on other cruises. Celebrity is an outstanding brand and we will continue to cruise with them in the future.

One of our Best Ever Cruises by charylb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Celebrity Edge was one of the best ships we've ever sailed on. The Capt and crew and all of the staff were great .... Celebrity....please don't stop the perks. Like turn down service at night, Canvas tote bags, hot Choc when we arrived back...so many of the pre-pandemic perks are still there with Celebrity. Loved it!
