Koningsdam

7 Night Alaskan Inside Passage (Vancouver Roundtrip)

Ship: Koningsdam

Cabin type: Suite

Cabin number: 7113

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Review summary

This was a "9 person because my mom said so" bucket list trip. We boarded the Koningsdam as a family and left, most importantly, as a speaking to one another family :-) The trip did NOT disappoint. The duration was just long enough, and the relaxation afforded while cruising the passages was appreciated after fun-filled excursions.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Flawless onboarding. My mom's wheelchair was waiting for her when we arrived. All went smooth!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Who doesn't love the variety of cruise food buffet offerings? Staff was courteous, food hot and customizable.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
This ship was a bit smaller so some of the activities tended to "sell out" fast; but we did take advantage of the fitness center, pickleball courts, origami classes.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The World Stage was smaller than some of the stages on other ships, but the dancers and singers were outstanding - even if we did have to stand!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Top notch. In particular the Neptune Lounge staff who assisted us with our return flight check-in, printing our boarding passes. All staff was extremely responsive.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Spotless, spotless, spotless. There were attendees WASHING the decorative plants late at night so they'd be shiny the next morning when people awoke. Goodness!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Extremely comfortable, clean and MUCH larger than a traditional balcony cabin. We're now forever spoiled.

Ship tip

It's a bit of an smaller ship, so be prepared to attend events early or sign up way ahead of time.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
Beautiful city. We didn't spend an awful lot of time here, we simply flew in and flew out.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
On the ship, scenery was beautiful.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
I was actually underwhelmed. Juneau was much smaller than I expected and it was overcast and drizzly. Our whale-watching, however, was spectacular.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
We zip-lined here and almost missed the excursion because there was no signage :-( The port itself was VERY windy......cute......but windy.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
LOVED the views and the up close views of the glaciers.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Adorable town, but quickly overrun with too many other cruise ships present at the same time.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
As flawless as getting onboard!
