Considering what I paid it fell Short of Expectations by kenmasiello1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas

Great Expense that fell WAY SHORT of expectations. Other than Juneau, the shore stops were a waste of time in my opinion, Only thing that was good was the weather and the temperature. We had little rain the days were were on land and temperatures were comfortable. Most of my family and others on our ship came home with Covid. Crew did everything they could to make it safe but when you have that many people in a confined space like a ship it is inevitable you will get sick.

Think again if booking NCL for an Alaskan cruise by chilliano

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Encore

Don’t go to Alaska on NCL. In 2 of 3 Alaskan ports, NCL docks far away. I Juneau, don’t get off ship if you don’t have excursion or just want to do tram for at least 2.5 hours. You’ll have to wait 90 min in line for a shuttle or walk a mile into town. I don’t mind walking… but in this case, you’ll be walking and breathing bus and truck fumes. In Ketchikan, the ship docks 20 min away. Be prepared for long waits for shuttle without booking an excursion. Arrival at 7 am but you must be back on the 11:30 or 11:45 shuttle. What? 2 or 2.5 hours in town? If you already booked this cruise, do yourself a favor and book an NCL or local excursion that leaves from Ward Cover, otherwise, it’s a wasted port day. I wish I had realized where NCL docks before booking. NCL already nickle and dimes its customers. Where it docks is yet another example. The company must dock in out of the way places for financial reasons. Never again, NCL

Nice cruise - short day itinerary though. by pwsll

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

My husband and I went on this cruise with 2 other couples. Ages 50-65. We thought a few of the port times were quite short. In Juneau we only had 5 hours and we stood in line for Tracy's Crab Shack for 2 but it is worth it. Victoria was only a 3 hour stop so not much time there. In Sitka, we go there 2 hours before the gondola opened and had to be on the ship 3 hours after that so it was also a short port time.

Too early in season for Alaska by Wiskel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

We had previously cruised with NCL on the Sun with a similar itinerary but in late August,. The 6 am port calls meant not many stores and restaurants were open when we arrived, limiting time to grab crab legs to try or browse the town and shop. Also, found stores closed as it was too early in the season. I recommend waiting to cruise beginning in June.

Loved sailing with Princess Cruise line. It was my first time sailing with them. The crew professionalism far exceeded any other cruise line I have traveled with in the past.

Wonderful by stari9te

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess

This was my first cruise with my friend for their birthday. We are very happy we chose the Crown princess; the Ship has a low-key, old world feel to it. It's great for relaxation without overstimulatation.

Mediocre Alaskan Cruise by Alaskancouple

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel

We liked cruising and learned a lot about this form of traveling through this experience. We will likely choose another cruise line next time. I wish they had fixed our room the first time we complained. That would have improved our overall experience.

Alaskan Cruise by mbsmoore

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Encore

I enjoyed the cruise. We chose the perfect time because every location we visited, the weather was beautiful, no rain. Even the townspeople would comment how luck we were with the weather on that particular day. The time of year was also perfect because so few tourist. Excursions a bit pricey.

Great trip for a family get together! by vlahlstrom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Westerdam

This was a great cruise. We worried about going too early in the season because that was the only time we could go, but everything worked out perfectly and the weather was pretty good. Of course, we came prepared with thermals and a rain jacket. There is still a problem with Covid on ships. Two people from our group did get Covid.

Nice Ship - Room for Improvements - HORRIBLE ITINEARY by lizeW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Encore

I don't think I would recommend Norwegian as a 1st option for cruising. Just a few things that did not appeal to me but may be right for someone else. We are a couple that choose this sailing because of a group of friends were going to be onboard but I don't think Norwegian is the best Cruise Line for Me. We did not book under the group. Also, on another note, the cruise price dropped and when I requested some money be refunded, an upgrade or onboard credit. We were offered a one-time future Cruise Credit when we returned home. This was an insult especially since the difference would almost pay for one person's sailing for an inside cabin.

Won’t travel Ncl again by Leilani0726

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Encore

Take a helicopter tour onto a glacier if you can. Highly recommend Coastal tours. Avoid the spa specially on the first day. The therapist try to upsell you feels more like a timeshare presentation versus a spa. Try and book as many excursions as you can. Upgrade your room we had an inside room felt like my bedroom closet. Bring a bathing suit go in the hot tub during glacier Bay the best view on the ship. Unfortunately, I will not be booking with NCL in the future. If I travel to Alaska again I would definitely try Princess.

Mixed Experience on the Celebrity Edge: Exceptional Dining, Service Issues, and Unexpected Charges by carolmai94112

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Edge

My recent experience on the Alaska cruise aboard the Celebrity Edge was largely positive. The overall trip was great, and I would like to highlight some specific aspects of our journey. Blu Restaurant: The food at Blu restaurant was delicious, and my family and friends were very satisfied with both the food and the service. The waitstaff were friendly and provided excellent service throughout our meals. Eden Restaurant: Unfortunately, we encountered some issues with the lunch special at Eden. Despite confirming multiple times that the total amount per person, including the 20% service charge, was $70, we were ultimately charged $70 plus a 20% service charge, totaling $84 per person. Additionally, the Dungeness crabs were extremely disappointing and not fresh. If this had occurred at a restaurant off the ship, I believe we would have received a refund for the crab. However, we did not even receive an apology from the restaurant. Room Service: Our room service attendant provided great service for almost the entire six-night trip. However, on the last morning, we had confirmed a departure time of 9:30 AM, but were rudely awakened at 7:00 AM and informed that the departure time was 8:20 AM. After returning from breakfast at 8:10 AM, our attendant, Alex, was very upset and informed us that we needed to vacate the room by 8:00 AM, regardless of the departure time. In our rush to pack, Alex did not say goodbye and remained visibly angry. Interestingly, my family members on the same floor did not experience this issue, so we moved to their room to wait until 9:30 AM. Luggage Valet Service: We were unexpectedly charged $70 for the luggage airport valet check-in service. On other cruise lines, we have used this service multiple times without any charge, especially since we have free checked bags with Alaska Airlines. I do not understand why we were charged for this service on Celebrity Edge. In summary, while the food and service at Blu restaurant were exceptional, and our overall experience was enjoyable, the issues at Eden restaurant, the unpleasant room service experience on the last day, and the unexpected charge for luggage valet check-in left a negative impression. I hope these concerns can be addressed to improve the experience for future guests.

Alaska Adventure by aalaska

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Edge

I am not sure that cruising is our thing. Too many fees, not enough seating if you cannot go outside in the main dining, the specialty restaurants are way overpriced and not enough activities for adults, need to add some game rooms.
