Review summary

My recent experience on the Alaska cruise aboard the Celebrity Edge was largely positive. The overall trip was great, and I would like to highlight some specific aspects of our journey. Blu Restaurant: The food at Blu restaurant was delicious, and my family and friends were very satisfied with both the food and the service. The waitstaff were friendly and provided excellent service throughout our meals. Eden Restaurant: Unfortunately, we encountered some issues with the lunch special at Eden. Despite confirming multiple times that the total amount per person, including the 20% service charge, was $70, we were ultimately charged $70 plus a 20% service charge, totaling $84 per person. Additionally, the Dungeness crabs were extremely disappointing and not fresh. If this had occurred at a restaurant off the ship, I believe we would have received a refund for the crab. However, we did not even receive an apology from the restaurant. Room Service: Our room service attendant provided great service for almost the entire six-night trip. However, on the last morning, we had confirmed a departure time of 9:30 AM, but were rudely awakened at 7:00 AM and informed that the departure time was 8:20 AM. After returning from breakfast at 8:10 AM, our attendant, Alex, was very upset and informed us that we needed to vacate the room by 8:00 AM, regardless of the departure time. In our rush to pack, Alex did not say goodbye and remained visibly angry. Interestingly, my family members on the same floor did not experience this issue, so we moved to their room to wait until 9:30 AM. Luggage Valet Service: We were unexpectedly charged $70 for the luggage airport valet check-in service. On other cruise lines, we have used this service multiple times without any charge, especially since we have free checked bags with Alaska Airlines. I do not understand why we were charged for this service on Celebrity Edge. In summary, while the food and service at Blu restaurant were exceptional, and our overall experience was enjoyable, the issues at Eden restaurant, the unpleasant room service experience on the last day, and the unexpected charge for luggage valet check-in left a negative impression. I hope these concerns can be addressed to improve the experience for future guests.
