The port area itself looks like storage container heaven. You literally cannot see the terminal for all the containers. A tram is readily available take you and bring you back. You can tell the city is putting money into it to attract more tourists

We did an excursion that took us on a bus ride to an all inclusive resort for the day and we got to drive mini speed boats. They let us go really fast and it was so much fun. Didn’t get in the pool because it was not warm enough.

BORING! We didn’t do an excursion at this port. Every single person who I talked to that didn’t do an excursion said it was also boring. I heard people talking about having a good time zip lining or going to stone island. We will do something if we ever go back. Shopping was no good.

We walked all over this town. From the ship if you are not on a tour as you leave the ship there are volunteers to help with questions. Stop and talk to them they are very knowledgeable and they are in various areas of the old city too. We walked all over the old city and the Malecon. this is the one city that my husband and I loved exploring. It is a city that we could see spending a little time in not just a day.

The ziplining excursion was great for my husband and son however there isn't anything else about the port that I would have like to have seen. My daughter and I stayed on the boat which we did really enjoy.

We did a great bus tour on this one and learned lots about the local area and how it came to be. It was actually the only time we got to put our feet in the sand which I definitely want to rectify on our next cruise. The shopping area by at the pier was definitely more laid back so we were able to eat and shop a bit more relaxed before heading out.

We did our own thing. Took water taxi ($2 per person) across to Stone Island. After getting off taxi walk across the street and onto beach. Then just found some chairs with an umbrella. There are lots and lots of places. They just want you to buy food or drinks from them. Very reasonable. Took water taxis back (keep ticket). Then had a taxi (golf cart) take us on a little tour of the city.

We went to Stone Island. It’s a 15 minute walk from the cruise terminal to the water taxi stand. You can watch YouTube video on how to get there. $2 for a water taxi round trip. This was my favorite beach. It’s quiet and gorgeous. The water is calm. We paid $30 for 2 beach chairs, 2 buckets of beer, and chips and guacamole. Easy to do with the 3 y/o.
