A: From the port terminal in Mazatlan, you can walk the Blue Line to the Plaza Machado. There is a actual blue line going down the street, Playa Azul and turn right on Carnival St and the blue line continues all the way to the plaza. The total walk is p... robably three-quarter mile. There's restaurants and shops right there. From the plaza if you were to continue a few blocks to the west it would take you to the Malecon. Mazatlan actually has one of the longest malecons. There are plenty of shops and restaurants along the boardwalk. If you wanted to see The Catedral Basilica, absolutely beautiful church it is just a couple of blocks to the north east of the Plaza Machado. If you have made it this far, you might want to go an extra block to the north east and there is an absolutely huge indoor market. The market is probably a mile from the port terminal. Mazatlan also has open air taxis called Pulmonias. They are pretty inexpensive, if you want you can take one back (port) and enjoy the ride.See More

A: Take a water taxi to Stone Island. It's about a half a mile walk to the water taxi stand. There are also golf cart taxis that will take you to the water taxi stand. The last time that we were there, the water taxi cost $2 pp round-trip. Once at Stone... Island, there is a beach with rustic bar-and-grills, horseback riding, and some water toys. It's not the best beach in the world, but it makes for a no hassle, inexpensive and enjoyable day.See More

A: We got an inexpensive ride on an atv car with a roof on it and he drove us all along the beach (waterfront walkway called the malecon) . It was perfect for us.

A: The port near the ship is quite industrial. We did an inexpensive excursion thru Mazatlan Van tours. The lunch and margaritas on the beach were fantastic. Mariachi group and a relaxed setting. This was 2 years ago and we are doing the same excursion... in January '23. Probably not the best choice for young kids, but it was PG rated.See More

A: Unfortunately, not without a taxi ride. It’s more of an industrial shipping port than a picturesque cruise port.

A: Agreed, there is a lot to do in Mazatlan. First, you need to get away from the port. It is a working port not a tourist attraction. Just across the harbor is Stone Island. Absolutely beautiful beach with many amenities, take an excursion or take a sh... uttle boat across to it. Plaza Machado is less than a mile, you can walk the blue line, many guides and volunteers to show you the way. From there you can go less than a half mile to the Best Western Freeman hotel with a roof top pool with restaurant and bar. Best views. Mazatlan has one of the longest Malecons. Just a few years ago they completely renewed the whole thing. Mazatlan also has Pulmonias, these are dune buggy type taxis. It is great to go site seeing in one of these. The Golden Zone is the tourist area. Great food and shopping. Highly recommend Pancho's on the beach. One of the best restaurants in town. Panama bakery is around the corner from them. Mazatlan is great, just have to get away from the port. EnjoySee More
