A great way to experience the natural culture is to walk to the old town center. Mazatlan has made this very easy by placing a blue line in the sidewalk or street. You simply follow that blue line for about 3/4 where there are cafes, shops and nice little community center with benches and sculptures. There also are volunteers (Canadian and U.S.) folks along the way that can provide info and free maps. This is a very safe area and provides a unique experience for free.

We visited the Aquarium, saw a seal performance and rode in the back of a pickup to the beach. These were a type of taxi with benches and a covered top. Ate lunch at a typical Mexican restaurant.

Booked a resort excursion and enjoyed time at the beach and pool. We were not advised that tank tops were not permitted in the restaurant that provided lunch for the excursion. This information would have been helpful.
