No excursion. First time docking at downtown pier. Prefer it to normal docking area. Store layout and dining choices were far superior to either Carnival's or Royal Caribbean's normal port.

Went to a private resort and just relaxed. The port was a mad house and we saw 2 ships collide, it was stressful

This port was just simply fun, vibrant, and inviting!! We took some photos in port before catching a cab to Nachi Cocom. Which I highly recommend!! A day pass is $59 for adults and for our 12yr old it was $45. That got us endless bar/non alcoholic drinks, seats, a palapa, a table, and a 4 course meal!! The cab ride was $17 there and $17 back. There was 4 of us. After we got done relaxing we went back to port for some shopping. All in all in was the best day ever!!

Mexican Cuisine excursion was very good! A friend recommended it, and I recommend it now as well! After cooking, and eating what you made for lunch, you have the remaining 1-2 hours to enjoy the Playa Mia beach club. The beach was closed that day due to high current, unfortunately, but there were plenty of beach chairs to use plus two pools, water play area, and two larger waterslides. Playa Mia includes "open bar" while you're there but the drinks were pretty weak compared to the drinks on the ship. not a big deal, but FYI. For anyone who collects Starbucks mugs or might want to try some of the "different" drinks we don't have at home in the U.S., there's a Starbucks across the street from the pier (near Hooters).

Transportation was a rundown bus with no ac or windows. We got soaked when it rained and steamed up from the plastic roll down windows. The authentic lunch was worst than fast food at home, not a restaurant as stated.

Plenty of shopping near the port. We also wanted to go to the International port to shop and it was only a $10 cab ride over with tip. This is a nice clean port. However, the further you go away from the main port the crowds are smaller and the more pushy shopkeepers became. I think we felt less safe the farther out we went. However, that was only our perception and may not be yours.

Really do not like the high pressure to buy from the vendors in the port area. Once you get into Cozumel, it's not as high pressure, but definitely still there. Enjoyed Mr. Sanchos. Beautiful beach, good food.
