We loved the National Park (Totem Pole Park) and it was excellent. We also visited the Sanctuary of the Bear which was disappointing ... small with a few bears in round industrial tanks ... could do this in 30 minutes ... not worth the money but the idea is good. We prefer animals in a more natural setting.

Small town (14 miles of paved road total), but clean and refreshing. Nice visitor center in downtown; pleasant waterfront park and library. I did an excursion: saw serveral whales at a distance; walked a short trail through a forest, then viewed samon run in a river over a bridge; visited a totum pole museum and a private bear sanctuary. Some confusion to me as to where I should meet my tour guide as the instructions on the e-ticket are not clear. Very pleasant trip overall.

Did a Sitka Culture tour and visited the Sitka National Park with the Totem poles, an Alaskan first nation dance demonstration and the Raptor Center. Great excursion!

One of my favorite places to visit in Alaska. The sail in and out are beautiful. The town is enjoyable to walk around. There are hiking trails and always can find a water excursion to find whales and otters. Keep your eyes open when you are walking around Bald eagles are usually seen. Sitka National Historic park is about a roughly a 30 minute walk from where the bus drops you off.

There was something very comforting and familiar about Sitka that put my wife and I both in a very relaxed state. My favorite port by far. Be sure to visit the Russian Orthodox Church.
