How do you save for a cruise?

So I have a few pins on pinterest (that's and understatement) on various topics, and some of them are saving money for vacation. For my cruise on the Allure this past April I did the 52 week saving plan (I doubled it of course to try and save close to 3K for the cruise), but I'm curious to know how other people tuck money away for their cruises, how long do you start, how much money are you able to save?

Right now my method is work 2 jobs, and i'm trying to sell off some clothes through thredup, and some apps that have money payouts as well... Bills eat up much of what I try and save....They are slow and are not for the impatient, but hopefully the long game pays out ($20 here, $10 there).

Thanks for sharing this! I had seen it long ago and lost it. I will print and start using it again for my next cruise! It is a helpful tool along with a jar.....that you CAN NOT SNEAK INTO LOL Yummy

Happy Cruising!!!

This is one I did for the Allure, except I doubled the amount (Double the pleasure!): https://magicaldetailstravel.wordpress.com/2013/01/24/weekly-vacation-savings-challenge/

I even took a plastic jar, decorated it and put a shrunken version of this on there so I could check it off each week and feel accomplished

I would be interested in seeing your pins on saving money

We can try.

I pay for the cruise over the months. And as it gets closer, every check i get i buy one thing.. Flight..tips.. Excursions. Also I even start buying 25.00 gift cards to Target even McDonald's or Wendy's for traveling. It's important to me that almost every detail is paid for so I can relax and enjoy.

I pay our full deposit and gratuities then a little each month until the cruise, hotels, and airfare are all paid for pre and post cruise vacation time.

I start with my Federal refund and pay 50% for the cruise and will make monthly payments for 4 months until paid off. Working a couple little part time jobs here and there helps too.

We always buy a future cruise certificate when on a cruise. It is a no loose deal. Buy a 250 cert and get 100 back in OBC immediately so 150 out of pocket. And as soon as we get back we start looking at future cruises and that cert is the full down payment. So even though the down payment would be 400 we use a 250 future certificate and have to pay out nothing else untill final payment date.

My husband and I like to book during the reduced deposit sales and just make monthly payments like any other bill, except it's something we look forward to haha

I love the sneaky tricks! I will keep them in my mind to fight off, or use for my own advancement. mwuahahaha
